Assassin's Creed thread

Its just sad.
Sad for the hardcore fans of the franchise that have been begging for ninja asscreed since the dawn of time.
Sad for the Japanese gamers that maybe were excited to have a big & popular franchise explore their history in great detail.

But oh well, the first group will slop up anything and the second group is fully aware of how fucked up western gamedevs are. Which is also sad i suppose.
Sad!

What’s the saddest thing to me is seeing people on this site, in this thread actually going to play this slop.

The last Assassin's Creed I had fun with was Black Flag. Only because of the pirate theme, the "assassin" part of the gameplay was already stale back in 2014. I wish I could ignore this God forsaken franchise, but unfortunately the "Ubisoft Game" formula has become a staple of almost every AAA game. Everything feels the same and it's so boring. I think part of the reason why they keep these DEI freaks around, because they generate controversy and that's the only reason people care about these cookie cutter games.

Am I the only one who feels really repulsed by a black man killing japanese people? It's disrespectful to the actual Yasuke and the japanese people during that time. It's historical character assassination (heh). They made a bisexual mass murderer out of this poor guy.

Fuck woke ideology.
It's even more disrespectful that in the trailers Yasuke is like 8 feet tall and every he effortlessly decapitates is like 5'5 and a third of his weight.

This slop was 100% made as someone's black power fantasy.

This Thomas Lockley character who is apparently a professor at Nihon University was on the latest video from “The Shogunate” on YouTube.

Decided to look him up and it turns out that this fuck wrote some bloody fan fic tier book on Yasuke the great nigger “indentured mercenary” who became a “samurai” of great renown.

Didn’t even bother with the shit because it would be an hour of my life that I can’t get back. Are there absolutely no standards for accurate historical portraits any more ?

I play them, but mainly when they're on discount and I think most of their DLC has come out (fucking Valhalla didn't stop with DLC). I find it something comfortable and familiar, but that's about it, something I can do, not really care about and just to be able to say yes I've played it.

When you realize most "science" has a replication crisis, to include hard sciences, it's not a surprise that loose sciences or history is gonna be ran through the shredder to meet social acceptance. The dullards try to explain it away because no one ever got into a fist-fight with the pope and George Washington didn't have a magical ball telling him to be king or whatever. Nevermind what they don't get is that you often play a completely fictional character who interacts with historical figures; Altair, Ezio, Connor, Edward, Shay, the twins, the French guy, the Egyptian, the Greek, Eivor. Now suddenly we're in the part of a historical figure instead of interacting with them; and somehow, despite all the Japanese figures who've had their names and accolades written down in their history, the one chosen is some fucking foreign slave who showed up on a ship, because blacks existed everywhere, and it needs to be celebrated for some fucking reason.

Na, according to what few historical writings about him exist he was absolutely more gorilla than man in terms of coloration, size, and strength, especially compared to the tiny-ass Japanese. This is probably the one and only place where I'll give Ubisoft any credit for staying true to history.

To be fair, so were a lot of actual samurai. When Takeda Shingen was 22 he decided a 16 year old retainer of his had a lovely boypussy. Tokyo University has the actual love pact they signed where Shingen sword off any other man in its archives.

And even then the Japanese already did that shit better and far more respectfully with Nioh.

In a franchise where Cleopatra was persuaded by an assassin to suicide, the pope is a templar, Mary Read dies from too many prison gangbangs, Washington goes mad, the Lisbon earthquake was caused by the templars, the daughter of two Victorian era assassins saves England during ww2, Florence Nightingale helps the assassins, and Marie Antoinette is demoted to off camera extra in the French Revolution story mode?!

It doesn't help that Japan is literally the land of ninjas. Stealth is your weapon, strike from the shadows, we are the hidden ones, etc etc... nah, be some hulking fucking behemoth who can't hide in plain sight because he is quite literally the only fucking gaikokujin on the entire fucking island. I get it stopped being Assassin's Creed sometime after 4 or Unity, and more or less became historical sandbox simulator, but come the fuck on. The Mediterranean can be and was diverse because of Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East all connected; but New England was mainly white, Europe is white (I'm not accepting Moorish interference for Spaniards or Italians) and even with the Vikings invading England, they're all fucking white. We finally get to the Land of the Rising Sun, and it's a darkie complete with fucking rap jive for his music.

And as an aside, the only problem I had with the AC4 DLC was that it was too short for its cost. Had no issue with a former slave being on my boat or eventually captaining his own ship.

Yeah same here, Black Flag was a great pirate game.
I tried Valhalla (pirated) and what a colossal waste of time that game was, if it wasn't called "Assassins Creed - Valhalla" i never would have known it was a part of that franchise.

This is definitely a part of it.
Also all of these AAA companies have "diversity" officers or whatever at high positions that demand they hire diversity consultants OR ELSE. It's all a fucking scam, these people all know each other and cover for each other.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware of how fucking retarded the concept as a whole is. A much, much more fun and true to actual history game would be one where you play as a warrior monk of the Ikko Ikki determined to take down Oda and his Templar allies of the Jesuits no matter the cost, but instead of actual fun since even the modern Japanese will admit Oda was a fucking jackass, we get this "diverse" shitheap of hip-hop murder.

Or you could just play Ghost of Tsushima instead and commence Total Mongol Death.

God, I hope they give us the continuation to that story they were all but declaring was going to happen.

Is any of this given validity by fake scholars passing off their fan fiction as historical fact in the real world?

I don’t remember campaigns by game’s media or Ubisoft advertising goading you into accepting their historical twists as facts.
The community didn’t run wild to rewrite those culture’s histories in justification of those historical twists either.

That's the best part: GoT just came out on PC and it's exactly what people wanted out of an open world samurai game. "Long awaited" Assassin's Creed: Japan turned out to be Assassin's Creed: Nigger, which is not all that surprising. All it will do is accelerate nigger fatigue for the Japanese, I can't imagine it will be all that popular there. Soyny cucking "AAAA" Ubisoft is just cherry on top.

Reminder: Out of the bajillion AC games they announced a while back there was one that will supposedly take place during the witch burning era of early American colonial history. Who wants to take a guess you will, once again, get to play as a nigger there?

The one you're referring to, Codename Hexe, is suppose to be set in 16th century Central Europe. But nevertheless I agree, they'll somehow find a way to include a "based black man" in there.

Honestly, I respect Oda far more than the other two Unifiers. Oda had a better plan for Japan than the other two. He planned on opening Japan up during a time when they were on the same level of technology and culture as the other great powers of the world (in fact Japan had taken to guns faster than most European countries at the time). I would argue that this ambition was part of the reason he recruited Yasuke as well. He needed someone who was well traveled and familiar with foreign lands but had no allegiance to them. An African slave of missionaries is perfect for that. Tokugawa 's idea of closing the country, left them behind in the world stage and they were forced to face countries that had developed farther than them. Hideyoshi and his caste system had long term problem as it prevented upward mobility for the citizens even in the age of capitalism as old habits die hard and that left Japan fighting WW2 with sub par mindset.

TLDR Oda was a Machiavellian hardass but he knew realpolitik better than his more respected successors.

They used to stick to as much historical accuracy as possible while adding fantasy elements. A sort of hidden history aspect. Now we have crossed into alternative history and it is presented as real history.

They do not let facts get in the way of a good virtue signal.

One of the neater things to do in the old AC games was to climb on and explore the old buildings and city settings Ubisoft re-created. There were even Youtube creators that would talk about the history of the locations you could listen to while you climbed, allowing for a neat kinda virtual tour situation.

Until the advent of all the VR stuff, it was one of the more accessible ways to check out a lot of historic Rome and Florence.
I know Assassin's Creed has always played fast and loose with history but this is pretty offensive. It's like portraying Canada as being complicit in the holocaust.
I would never implicate our Northern Neighbors in that made-up atrocity.

For sure. There are unironic and not even attempted to explain away dark as fuck nigger vikings in Valhalla where there aren't vague stories and recollections about some magical viking negro to lean on.
They are just there with zero shame or apology and i assume this will be the case for all AC games now.
Most likely there will be more africans in Asscreed Japan too, seems extremely likely.

Did King Cum Delivery make them seethe THAT much that they're gonna add niggers to that setting just to spite them?
