I guess talking about your Westeros house has replaced talking about your Hogwarts House.
There are more nerd shit targeted for normiefag consoomers such as Star Wars, Star Trek, capeshit, Stranger Things, Rick & Morty, Fortnite and anime

The Rumbling being carried out to completion would be more satisfying, but almost too simple, even with the interesting dynamics of Yaegerists vs traitors and Eren's personal relationships being strained. I suspect that's why Isayama complicated things, to be different and spice things up with a discount M. Night Shyamalan twist.
I agree that it'd be almost too simple but to solve that you could do multitude of things, maybe spend more time developing the rest of the world and how different nations try (and fail) to stop the advancing wall titans or something like that, idk, the most frustating thing about the ending we got is that the elements to make it good are all there, it's just that they were all misused in order to create a bizarre amalgamation of different themes and ideas that relied on characters and logic just not working as they are supposed to, it kind of reminds me of the ending of Naruto in how rushed it felt and how it collided with all the themes and messages that came earlier in the series.

I think the argument Isayama wanted to go for, which Armin actually uses is that destroying the World's navies would have been more than enough to buy the people of Paradis time, since even loosing one battleship would have been enough to economically devastate a country, let alone the whole fleet.
Will strongly disagree as any country that can either build or buy a (pre-dreadnought) battleship will not a economically devastated by its lost. Secondly with the existential threat of the titans, economical concerns will have been immediately discarded. Since monetary matters don't mean shit if there no one left alive to fuck a spreadsheet with.

As to building replacements that may at best take ten years if the rest of the world dragging ass. At worse three to five years to replaced the fleet and have the crews trained. Especially if every capable shipyard on the planet is building them. And this is assuming "act of plot" is in effect freezing humanity's technological development instead of having it continue during the years it is rebuilding the fleet. Ultimately time is not on the Paradis' side but on the rest of the world's side.

Building battleships is extremely time consuming and expensive, not even getting into training new crews. Even if nations focused specifically on just rebuilding their fleets, it would take years to build up a sizable force. And it be a moot point anyway, since the Rumbling would show that Battleships were ineffective. There is no military force at the tech level of the world of Attack on Titan that could effectively stop a full on Rumbling, that much is clear. Their only choice would be to hold out till the creation of nuclear weapons, assuming anyone could produce the technology.

For those pre-dreadnoughts that were destroyed, those took three years to build and fit out. You're vastly overstating the difficulty of building them to those nations capable of building them in the first place. The biggest issue with them always been the monetary cost of them especially during peacetime. FFS even wikipedo haves reasonably accurate information on the date of them being laid down to fitting out and completion.

Clarification I am looking at and discussing Armin's plan not the Rumbling. At Armin plan needs "act of plot" to work as the amount of time it would have brought at most is a decade. Which given the schizotech of the rest of world atomic weapons may very well be in play at the end of those ten years.

“There's nothing wrong with Eren crying, god forbid a shounen protag express emotion."
Eren crying wasn't the problem, it was him having an incel breakdown over not wanting Mikasa to love any other man and the way it came out of fucking nowhere. His character is a mess.
The crying was a problem though, in the first half of the show. Seemed like every episode someone was crying or screaming and it was all just so fucking obnoxious. It nearly made me drop the show within just a few episodes because it seemed like it was more interested in being shocking gore porn than telling a story. The reveal that the story was a based reimagining of relations between the Jews and the rest of the world during WWII was what got me interested again.

Did they show that Eran is responsible for his mother's death?
Not exactly, it was more brought up then demonstrated, which lends more credence to the "Eren thinks he's responsible but isn't" theory.

While it could be argued it was ridiculous, it seemed to happen after he was defeated and only for a second. It's not enough to ruin the whole story.

I’m not talking about the first half of the show or the whole story, I’m talking about this specific moment and its context. It was fucking stupid and made the ending all the shittier.

Hell, in the case of the first half of the show, the characters who did scream and cry had a justifiable reason for it 99% of the time. Eren BAWWWWing like a bitch over Mikasa loving someone else was not one.

Oh I know. But GOT was the biggest thing in the world for a while.

And AOT was a manga that rode the popularity of The Walking Dead.
And exactly like TWD, AoT used to be good in the beginning until it got worse and is still getting worse by the minute

I'm hesitant of criticizing the end because I don't know how the hell I would write the ending. One thing is for certain, Isayama should have taken a bit more time with the ending. Oh well, what's done is done, I'm curious about Isayamas next story. This time he has no deadlines and is financially set.

Most of the ending makes no sense and barely connects with the plot and tone of the first few arcs. Eren time traveling and causing titans to eat his mother. Some alien worm parasite from outer space. Ancient curses and hive minds and bloodlines. This stuff came out of nowhere and got more ludicrous as the story progressed. You'd have to scrap half the lore to make anything sensible.

It was similar to LOST in that it started out on an island with a smaller group of people. Who want to escape the island. But then you get things like parallel worlds and time travel. And alien lifeforms like the black smoke and it all goes nowhere unless you are a hardcore sycophant and cannot criticize the show.

Naruto was the same. Started out with very basic ninjas throwing knives and using hand to hand combat to kill in gritty brutal combat. By the end of the show the elder gods and reincarnations of eternal beings are throwing planet sized energy jutsus at each other and summoning armies and giant monsters to do battle. And the message of "anyone can rise above their station and save their friends through sheer hard work" became "you were actually born the reincarnation of an elder god and are the most powerful being in the universe".

You can't change the ending of Attack on Titan without going back to the first half or third of the story and rewriting from there. I would argue that things like the Paths and time travel would need to be removed entirely as well.

Imagine being a warrior going against skyscraper sized human eating monsters with only an oversized exacto knife and winning. That alone would start moisturizing underwear in your immediate vincity. Now add to that being young, handsome, fit, chiseled like a marble statue, being able to shapeshift into one of these monsters yourself and having literal God powers. How do you fail to get laid with all this? It's the equivalent of God creating a rock too heavy for Him to lift!

And what about the shitload of retcons?

Typical shonen behavior. Can defeat any opponent without breaking a sweat, but can’t notice when a chick wants you. It’s been a thing for decades.

@Random Internet Person
We're not talking about Goku here. We're talking about someone who set events in motion that murdered 80% of the world population including his mother just to make his childhood waifu notice him by his own admission, the same waifu who did all but drag him to bed by force to give him a hint. How many times do you have to get slapped on the ass to get it?

It makes no fucking sense to me, other than author having no idea how humans work.

So even by Shonen standards, Eren is a dense motherfucker.

even after having people explain to me what attack on titan turned into, it doesn't make any fucking sense
why did you guys stay after eren turned into a titan?
it is the biggest and first red flag
Because I guess we didn’t really know any better. Also, things still seemed to make some kind of sense.

The initial premise of the series was thrown out of the window immediately, which is arguably worse than having a shitty premise to begin with (I bailed right when I saw that huge edgy Eren and recommended people watch the abridges series it spawned instead, having enjoyed them far more)
And then what it was replaced by was thrown out again with the island shit.
Then titans are something related to god or whatever the fuck that was.

like, come on
