Time to dust off this old thread to remind people this game came out this year, and already forgotten.

This was a pretty informative video. Give it a like,
Avowed is so unbelievably boring even a scathing critique can't hold my interest, and I'm no stranger to background noise videos.

The guy tries incredibly hard not to mention how ugly and gay the game is that it comes off as a bit cringe.

Which is his strange because he has a Dragon Age Veilguard review where he's like "yea this is gay and ugly and being non binary is stupid" so idk.

Maybe he got a strike and is laying low or something.

Goddamn, how has there not been a single copycat or spiritual successor from that masterpiece. I'd kill for an open world game with Dark Messiah's movement, combat, and creative rewarding exploration.
Arkane games are the closest thing to it, which makes sense since Dark Messiah is indeed an Arkane game. I guess Dishonored is kind of like Dark Messiah if you mixed it with Thief and Bioshock. Maybe in a few years we will get a 6th/7th gen retro renaissance and someone will make a spiritual successor.

Im actually kinda interested in trying this out for PS5. If only because I played pillars 1 and a bit of 2.

It seems like a decent franchise with terrible art direction.
I didn't play this but my buddy who played Pillars 1&2 did and said it was nothing like those games so you're probably wasting your time.

Still no DLC, meaning it was such a financial catastrophe that the skeleton crew left in charge could do nothing more than maintenance and finishing up features that got cut last minute. The only tragedy is that due to it being dumped on xbox goy pass day one, we'll never know actual numbers and won't be able to rub them in faces of every retard that shilled this dysgenic niggercattle slop.

It's nothing like those games. There's no depth to the plot, you're railroaded into an ending, and the non-intended ones result in everyone shaming you for not being a good redditor. It's also once again the same fucking shtick of your companions' quests being about you being their therapist, because they're a bunch of mentally fucked up redditors' OCs. That aside, even if you like soyfiction like PoE1 and 2, Avowed does a piss poor job of being a side game. NOTHING you do matters in the grand scheme of things, even if you deliberately try to make choices that would logically massively affect the entire Eora.
To top it all, one of the easiest things to get right in a video game is soundtrack, because you usually subcontract it to someone, who only cares for music instead of an agenda, because there's no conceivable way to push leftist talking points into music. That being said, Avowed's soundtrack is completely bland, uninteresting and forgettable. If someone told me that it was made by AI, I'd believe them. It's not offensive to one's sense of hearing, it's just... there. Existing to check a box. Desert-y music sounds approprately arid, jungle beats sound like a jungle, marsh sounds boggy. The most unremarkable soundtrack since Sacred.

I am amazed they're wasting more money on it.

If you like being thought of as a dumbfuck who has never played a first person im RPG before you'll find it a mediocre game.
Now if you've ever played a half decent imsim RPG before, you're going to feel insulted they thought this game was worth almost 80 dollars let alone 20.

I owe you a massive thank you. I was going to give it a go but I don’t think I’ll ware my time now.

Its a very sterile and underwhelming imsim that I think hopes to take advantage that people haven't played them before.
I seriously don't know how they managed to make it this bad when they have made tons of them before and should know what goes into one.
Even if this was their B Team.

Try Tainted Grail instead. It's jank, it's quality varies wildly, and it has some serious issues past the first act that turned a lot of people off, but it scratched an itch for me and gives me hope that there will be more medium scale AA titles taking a crack at the formula.

Based on how TOW2 turned, I'd say there is no A team at Obsidian.

Honestly I advise everyone who want to play or played Avowed to try Tainted Grail for all the reasons you said. They are both flawed but Avowed is the evil twin while TG is the good twin, I don't know how to say it without writting an essay.
Also the fanbase is less obnoxious by acknowledging the flaws which is a good surprise.
