Bad Game Reviews - Did you actually play the damn game?

I do remember people calling Death Stranding boring and overrated, to the point where even Dunkey solidified it with these classic reviews:

Fast forward almost three years, everyone (except Dunk) now say they love the game.
Between evading the BTs and MULES and the generally batshit story the game can be pretty comfy when you're just trekking from one delivery to the next. It's obviously not a game for everybody but it's well made for what it is... whatever that is.

My memory is a bit hazy as this is from the long ago time of the dinosaurs so sorry if I get the exact details wrong but there was a massive shitstorm when Too Human came out (made by the people that did Eternal Darkness, turned out to be a massive stinker of a game). The dev had a massive chimpout but hilariously there was some reviewer controversy too.

GameSpot gave it one of the lowest scores and some other reviewers started publicly calling out Kevin Van Ord saying shit like "well I feel like I should give it a higher score just to balance things out". Like wtf? Your job isn't to prop up a shitty game's metacritic score. I think this particular comment came from the guy at IGN but I'm not sure. Anyway, it led to one of the greatest vidya shitposts from giantbomb telling everyone to lolcalmdown

Not to mention he singles out shit like vehicle physics when jumping gaps, something that you're not even meant to do, you're supposed to find another path or build. He had enough hours in the game to get to having the car, so surely he'd had enough hours of play with the bike to know how the game expects you to use it. Makes me wonder what else dunkey takes out of context "for comedic effect".

This is also the same guy that praises TLOU 2, so I guess I can't expect much.

Dunkey is a funny guy. That's it. I don't get why people take him seriously on game opinions.

He thinks that the pinnacle of storytelling is uncharted 4.

Imagine how little is his outlook on story if that's the highest standard he has.

Because the review essentially highlighted that he isn't playing a character. He's a genuine dunce who got real offended at the reaction at TLOU2, and this winds up bleeding into his other videos as a result.

It's like watching MovieBob thinking he's playing a dumbass white trash guy from Boston with a thesaurus, and expecting him to be more sensible IRL.

There's so many non-reviews in this thread that I feel like I can post a funny and accurate preview from Edge.
