i see its feminisim centered, ok alright, scrotums may seethe

but does it have trannies?

Just got out of the movie. It's fairly mediocre. If you're getting mad about this movie you must not consume much modern media. It's tame and not nearly as "woke" as it could have been. No troons and the only gay moment in the movie is effeminate cat calling that gets played for laughs.

The feminist message is convoluted. I think the overall theme was that you should be yourself and accept all the bad stuff in life, but the movie repeatedly contradicts that. A major plot point is a character complaining about the life of a woman irl, but most of her complaints are easily applicable to men too. They also never address the 'reverse' sexism of Barbieland. The Kens go back to being second class citizens, after the Barbies get struggle sessioned into believing that they don't like serving the Kens.

It's possibly the least offensive movie/TV show that has modern """progressive""" themes. The average Netflix show targeted at zoomers is more socially corrosive.

Anyways if you're interested in the "literally me" Ryan Gosling element just watch the scenes with him when they get uploaded to YouTube. Ken has the best character arch and the only listenable song. The scene accompanying this song is the best part of the movie:

If you are male and you give a single shit about this you are a confirmed faggot and should join Nick Fuentes in America First.

you’re either really dishonest or really, really stupid considering how the troon was proudly shown off with his own poster and everything

not to mention considering anything Ken touches after learning about “muh patriarchy” as manly

Given the record breaking box-office weekend this film has enjoyed, do you guys worry that this just means that we’re now gonna get even more overly woke films, just as it seemed like that trend was beginning to die down?

Seriously, this film comes along, and I can’t help but dread how many people are gonna be using its success as a way to mock people against wokeness, claiming that it proves that “go woke go broke” is a myth that it has shattered.

It's literally a generic "Girl Power" film with a "Boyz R DUM" message. Who the fuck seriously takes this as a threat against society? Get a grip.

I think people will go see it just because it's Barbie. I think everyone knows Barbie. It's probably one of the most well known IP's in the world.
The marketing was honestly pretty impressive. Marketing it as a bubbly fantasy comedy film and using its relation to Oppenheimer to boost its outreach. I’ll give them that.

Is this the trend we’re going to see now? Films marketed as something and then the bait-and-switch comes to get more work films profitable?

Marketing team definitely carried the movie. If they had shown all the obvious pro-feminist misandrist parts of it in trailers it would of sunk like a stone before it even came out.

I don't understand the praise that the marketing for this film gets. The description I'd use for it is fraudulent. There's shades of grey where the issue is a film having something that wasn't shown in the trailer but when there's a positive statement direct from Mattel that it's not a feminist film that's another matter.

The movie was sold off on le hecking ryan gosling being in it and margot robbies feet. The audiences got lied to and thats why it did so well. Not because woke movies are making a comeback.

I still dont get how people fell for it, Greta Gerwig makes absolute femslop her whole career and her husband made a Marriage Story, it was obvious what it was going to be to anyone remotely aware of the current industry.

The blame is entirely on retards that fell for it.

Anyone know that name of the song that mixes thus spoke zarathustra with a hiphop beat? It sounds lit af.

I always think the excuse "this movie not made for me/you/them/x" is an enormously massive copout.

A good movie can be appreciated by everyone. If course there are people who pathologically despise certain genres, etc, but good art is for the most part universal. You don't need to play with lego to enjoy the lego movie, you don't need to play league of legends to enjoy arcane, you need to be into superhero comics to enjoy watchmen, and so on and so forth. A good movie is just a good movie. It can have a target audience, but that doesn't mean it gets a pass on somehow automatically excluding everyone else.

Maybe I didn't notice it. I dont tend to watch things to get angry. Politics does enough of that for me.

Admittedly I only watched the movie and two of the trailers before hand.

This channel usually makes good videos and this one is no exception.
If you're interested in Doll history (or just want to see how much Mattel lied about having the first fashion doll) I suggest checking it out.

The writers may have screwed up and accidentally made the incel-Ken too relatable and sympathetic.
You mean they literally made a "literally me" character by sheer literal accident on a character that was already memed as a literally me on the most "literally me" actor?

God DOES have a sense of humour.

And this isn't the first time we've seen marketing for two big movies playing at the same time and it won't be the last either. But having that said, it's still the most impressive. I won't say the same with others, considering the upcoming Paw Patrol and Saw sequels are doing this "Saw Patrol" marketing and I don't think it's going to have the same rep as Barbenheimer.

If like me you just don't feel like watching the movie at all the following video pretty much spoils the whole thing and explains the plot and how it goes.

The takeaway seems to be that the movie tries to be woke, but fails. The entire thing has a wonderful marketing campaign and the people who put that together did a great job, but the actual plot doesn't really work for little girls who should have been the main target. Instead what we get only makes sense if you are part of a very specific brand of feminism from California. It doesn't flow well, and the little issues pile up quickly into a experience that leaves even those who don't put any thought on it feeling "off".

Many of the things the movie does and tries to push backfire spetacularly and simply do not come off as they were intended. I think the best way to put it is that it is sort of a feminist equivalent of "if you try and stop illegal immigration then who is going to clean your toilet Trump?" Or as the hosts in the video end up concluding, it comes off in a similar tone deaf "don't do this cool thing" as with the Starship Troopers movie that was meant to be a "anti-war fascism bad" movie by that dutch faggot direct and in fact ended up just as a great action sci-fi who most people never realized was meant to be parody because he thought everyone magically had his same perspective and opinions to get the point.

The end result comes across tacky and off putting. I expect that despite the opening that is being claimed as so strong it will taper off quickly as word of mouth spread.
