Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

I don't know what it is but holy shit Assault mech players are braindead. "Oh I'm getting melted from behind, let me just continue to stare at this corner. Why am I dead? Oh we're getting flanked? But the enemy might also come this way even though the vast majority of them are confirmed to be the other way, so I'm staying. Hey why are we getting flanked?" Makes me never want to touch an Assault mech again because I'd be associated with these retards.
My friend used to joke about delayed pain response. We used to run lights together and one of us was the ECM bitch. The game was to get behind a LRM boat and count how much damage/time it took for them to start turning around to face us. Winner were multiple Direwolves that didn't do anything as we cored out their anus.

Also a fun build for psychological warfare is the Jihadvelin. Take a Javelin 10P. Fill it with rocket launchers and only rocket launchers. Bigest engine you can find, no back up weapons. Perk it for mobility. Turn on heat override.
You now have a mech that can easily alpha strike the rear CT of any assault in game. You will also die upon firing your rockets. You will die so quickly that if you do kill an enemy, your warhorn will not have the time to fully play the soundbite.
Bonus points for running a light lance with at least 1 ECM bitch for maximum surprise butsecs.

In MWO how transferable are designs from MW5? I have a bunch of Maurader designs i run around with in MW5 and was wondering how good they would be in MWO.
MW5 has worse heat management compared to MWO but generally what is strong in MWO (high burst brawling builds, laser vomit and PPFLD builds) are good in MW5 and vice versa.

Fuck I just got a Direwolf too, but yeah I did notice a Direwolf really doesn't care if they're getting 6 SRM-6's to the back. I don't care who's in front of me I'm backing off and turning my ass right around to nuke whatever little shit hit my tight supple behind.

Every combat arena game like that has these people. You know the type: the ones who flash some cash and buy the most heavily armored thing they can get off the ingame store and plunge right into the game thinking game sense and situational awareness are for scrubs. In World of Tanks it's Tier 8 heavy tank drivers. In MWO it's clearly Assaultroons.

Phoenix Hawk Build: Am I doing this right? Fast flanking build type thing.

As for the MWO assault mech hate in this thread, I agree. Any mech that goes 64 kph or under generally feels slow, like I'm trying to run through water, so that's perfect for a retard with an over four second reaction time who wants surprise backside coring.

I personally found the Phoenix Hawk weak. But I think your weapons don't synergize with it, you have a mech that can jump and do pop shots but the armament requires time on target. 1.15 HMGT is pretty bad.
I would drop the RAC and grab a LAC and swap the lasers for 3 light PPCs and grab light ferrous fibrous and an ECM. Don't like ECM put in AMS or some flamers.

If you're ever lost, check this build database.

I'll be honest and admit I'm extremely cautious when I play my Dire Wolf but I'm still smart enough to at least head towards the gunfire instead of away from it.

Feels bad man since I managed to earn myself a second mark of distinction on my T32.

Thank you. I was drunk when I threw that together, I just wanted to put the RAC on something because it sounded cool but I see what you mean. I will try something like that with weapons that shoot instantly rather than wind up guns and lasers.
Edit to add: I've had no issues with heat with this mech so far, I know that heat management is abysmal and there's no sinks in the thing, but for some reason I've not had to worry about overheating too much.

Man, I play a light and suddenly every single enemy mech spots me immediately and seemingly every single mech guns for my ass, but when the enemy plays a light mech everyone on my team is autistic and avoids them like the plague even when they're getting their structure destroyed. It's incredibly annoying. Then again the enemy probably remembers me from backshotting their assaults and killing 3 in under 1 minute so...am I infamous already? Also what weird is how I can either tank an alpha strike or get one shot as a Jenner IIC. In the case of last round, I point blanked a light mech in the back and next thing I know the Annihilator that was also facing away from me barely spins around and one hits BOTH of us with like...a few lighter hitting weapons, both of us were behind him so we still had full (well I did at least) front armor. I'm very confused.

Here's just some general pointers.
  • When you're picking weapons you want them to be roughly the same velocities so you're not having the issue where you're tracking a target and half your weapons miss
  • CASE outside of builds where you need shit tons of ammo is pointless, you're almost certain to die before a cook off
  • Ideal ammo placement is head>legs>CT>ST>arms
  • Outside of a few mechs more prone to headshots people will strip their head armour to 1 to put it elsewhere
  • Back armour is a personal preference thing but if you're ending matches with back armour you can drop it down to put it onto the front

If you're not building up heat you're losing out on damage. Try swapping out the LL for 4 more MLs, you'll be a lot hotter and a bit shorter range but you'll be massively increasing your alpha.

The future is now Old Man. Innersphere CASE is weightless. Unless you are really shaving down slots to mix match Endo and Fero there is 0 reason not to take it.
Since when and even if it is weightless that is still a crit slot that can be used for something better and not for cowards. CASE are for those who don't know how to dump ammo and don't know about facing.

Cranston just dropped a new trove with all the audiobooks in em, including the abridged versions that came out in the 90s.

Jenner iic fury is hilariously fun

Sadly due to travel and stuff haven't had any real TT nights past week and away this week.

I have a blood asp to paint. In thinking fuck canon, landschekt it. Bright bold and badass. Like red and yellow almost Micky D's theme.

RFL-8D RAC/5 is fucking fun. No skills on and it handles like a dream and hits like a 50 bees to the dick.
