Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

With how many heat sinks I can load up now, I can fire all three PPCs for two to three rounds in a row before I have to worry about heat management on hot/lunar environments. I might try a four PPC run like it is a AWS-9Q because fuck it, why not?

Also want to change up the SLDF Marauder's AC5 with an LBX5 to treat it as a MAD-2T but oddly enough, I haven't come across any LBX5s yet. I can buy the ammo no problem, but the gun itself is rarer than a bloody pulse laser.
Yea a Sleepy Awesome is just one that has no Heatsinks and Lower Armor for all the PPC's it can carry. Then Alpha Strike, cool down a turn, Alpha again, cool down. It worked due to how they implemented heat in that game but not sure if they fixed it.

I might try a low rated mission with that set up. The AI oddly really likes going after the Awesome when I bring it with me, despite the Banshee's set-up being far more deadly in closer ranges.

A long time buddy recommended I install a mod called BTA 3062 for battletech. Is there enough content in it to make the game worth reinstalling?
I run it, and frankly, it shits all over the original. Yes, there is a lot more stuff and that makes it far deeper. Battlesuits, airdropped resources, vehicles, artillery (both tank and mech based), variant weapons. Evasion pips don’t get stripped by volume of fire, meaning Lights are actually useful. Expanded skill trees. Clans (and getting clan mechs and equipment). New and different events. Good fun.

The funny thing is the scene which is so often portryed in the source books (McEvedy letting her soldiers in the conlcave and securing her escape) may not have happened if we take the Wolverine novel as base. Plus the fact that the Wolverine saKhan used the McKenna's Pride to actually raze parts of Strana Mechty into the ground as retribuition. Though I am not sure how much of the novel is actually put into the lore.

Oh and another great scene: when the Great House convene on Tharkad to create Star League Mk2 and Katherine suggests to make Sun Tzu the Frist Lord Victor seconds the motion adn then winks at her making her almost keel over from rage

It's also quite nice how Anastasius "totally not a Steiner" Focht and Victor cockblock her next attempt at getting elected, by making Victor Preceptor Martialum, so he can work together with the Free Rasalhague Republic to make Theodor Kurita the new head honcho.

Though if we take the battle scenes in the "Big robots stomp each other" the battle for Twycross stands out. When one lone Tomahwak stares down an entire cluster of Jade Falcons before blowing up the ravine they are fighting in

As a general rule, novels overrule sourcebooks for "what actually happened". Sourcebooks are considered in-universe documents, and thus are prone to in-universe mistakes, obfuscations or outright lies. McEvedy actually had two shouting matches with Nicky K in the Council chambers, bits and pieces of which were combined with some deepfaking to produce the transcript seen in Warriors of Kerensky. They did in fact orbital bombard Strana Mechty, though only after the Widowmakes had framed them for setting off a nuclear weapon. In total they put one naval PPC shot each into the Council chambers, along with the halls of clans Smoke Jaguar, Jade Falcon, Snow Raven and Ghost Bear, plus two for the Widowmakers because fuck them in particular.

So two things, first up how resource heavy is Battletech Extended 2025 is? I'm wanting to give that a whirl.

Second, I would love to get some MekTek games against you folks. Would sound like a fun time.

To be honest if I would have been the Wolverine SaKhan I would have blown the McKenna's Prideup instead of simply telling the corpse of Alexander Kerenmsky that his son is a bad man. Or pulled a Malvina Hazen and rammed the Pride into Katyusha because fuck you I am done with this shit.

Sorry to double post my replies are being gay on mobile.

I've been playing it and helped since drop. I even have a custom mech in BTA using another handle of mine.

Love it will never go back to vanilla and prefer it to rouge tech. It's come a long way and the modders a great dude and streams if that's your thing. Has a discord also if your thing.

Fuck I hate Trannytech. At least the older stuff still exists.

Robotech was good in its own right, but god damn are most IS mechs like the Centurion and Commando, the lamest thing ever. Which is at least 90% of Trannytech. All the disadvantages and none of the pros of a humanoid mech, like being able to scratch the mech's ass with its hand.

Most of the time when veering away from explicitly humanoid designs the mechs turned out to be from okay to great.
