So... The "final" chapter has released. Thoughts on it? All I really have to say is that it was pretty good. If this is pretty much the end of Berserk, I'm glad it ended on probably what I'd call the most wholesome chapter in the series.
What I’m curious about is, was this literally the next chapter that was planned to be released even if he hadn’t passed away? Or was it something pieced together by his assistants specifically to serve as an ending for the current arc, because it was close enough to ending that it didn’t affect the story too much to gloss over some aspects that might’ve been covered in more detail?
Because wow, it would be the ultimate cruel irony if the man was literally one chapter away from closing out the current storyline before he died.

It was mostly finished but his assistants drew a few panels to finish it up, I've heard people say they can spot which ones were done by assistants but I couldn't tell.
Also did anyone hear about the Berserk exhibition? Miura was working on some sort of giant robot anime, he does the basic world and designs then someone else makes it. Sadly nobody got photos of the robot itself cause photographing the drawings was banned (wtf). Supposedly the robots ranged from classical Mazinger shit to something more like Pacific Rim but we got a few glimpses of the characters from a magazine scratch that this is from yet ANOTHER pitch apparently.
Here's some stuff that you actually were allowed to photograph
Someone did sneak a few photos of the recreation of Miura's workspace though.
Apparently those sci-fi drawings in the first pic aren't related to the giant robot anime, I'm curious about that but I can't find any information.
Now that the Deluxe volumes aren't getting constantly sold out, I've been purchasing them for myself so I'm finally making headway into the Golden Age arc.
It really speaks to Miura's skill as a storyteller that you can go into the Golden Age knowing what happens and still feel emotionally attached to characters you know aren't gonna have a happy ending. I was worried going into it that I wouldn't feel invested when I already know the outcome, but that certainly isn't the case. If anything, it makes reading about these characters more emotionally devastating. As I've said, my previous exposure to the arc was the movies, and the movies cut out quite a lot of detail, so having these characters and events fleshed out gives me a better understanding of the story and hurts my soul a little more. I'm getting close to the Eclipse, and I have a feeling it's gonna hit a lot worse than it did in the movie.
Do you guys hope that Miura's assistants pick up the mantle and finish the series? Or would you rather it simply ends with him?
I certainly think a continuation by someone else is possible without completely fucking it up, best example would be the Wheel of Time series. But that was really only able to be continued because Robert Jordan left behind a shit tonne of notes before he died and basically had the ending already drafted. Dunno if Miura left enough material behind for someone to piece the rest of the series together, but hey, a man can dream

I personally hope that Miura left behind a detailed outline of what happens all the way to the series conclusion for the express purpose of continuing the manga without him. I want to know how it was supposed to end.
Where did you here this? I've been waiting for months to hear news about the series' future and I still can't seem to find a definitive answer beyond it being "uncertain".
I could see them continuing the series. The lack of information makes so far me think they're at least considering it. The whole point of Miura's Studio Gaga being full time was that it could be drawn without him if need be, but even with Duranki he was still overseeing the process. Being written entirely without him would worry me. Detailed outlines would be nice, but they're just that. He still does a lot of this stuff in the moment like any manga author or writer in general. At the very least none of the dialogue or storyboards would be from him. Can't say I'd turn it down if it did happen though. I'd even settle for the outline on it's own if it exists. Maybe prefer it.
Personally I don't want it to continue. Miura was privileged as a mangaka, wasn't rushing the title, but the chapters were realizing at the snail's pace. He also draw and written a lot of titles while working on Berserk.
Still, it had his signature drawing and writing style. So continuing the series without him on board is like making a shrimp dish with fake shrimp. Its not the same. It hurts me to admit, but leave the title as it is, its better then finishing it without authors trademarks.
And now, you ether cancel Berserk or you continue the series. This way the Young Animal is just stalling it for no reason, other then for the audience to give it up on their own over time.
How ironic that someone who spends all day looking for things to get upset and enraged about online doesn't recognize that great authors often craft stories to evoke the same emotions from readers.
I've said it, that these retards really don't understand art. Its to evoke emotion, but they believe everything is political or just what it is at its face value. So they believe the author himself likes this stuff and affirms it. That's why they call him sick a misogynist, etc. Its because they have no real conception of what fiction and art is supposed to be.
They want soft, dumb bullshit that caters to them with as little conflict as possible and looks like 'their' beliefs. That's what its about really. They cannot see art from any other perspective than one that is at face value. They have no idea how to relate to things and just assume its racism or some dumb bullshit.
This is the result of fucking idiots going to college. Anyone with a pulse and a 2.3 GPA can get into any shitty school. They think they actually learned something by repeating some shitty professor that couldn't hack it anywhere else with their fucking retarded ideas about anything. They think they're smart because they took these classes, but it really is smooth brain fucking idiots who never really left adolescence because all their experiences have been hand-holding since High School.
So they live in this bubble and when they exit into the real world, they don't know how to react to things like this because no one really taught them how to deal with ideas contrary to their beliefs. So they just fall back on attacking the person who made it, without really questioning why it was drawn or the reasoning behind it.
This is also why anything they create is blatant secular moralism that smacks you in the face with a sledgehammer and putrid garbage from every perspective. They have no idea of what the point of art is, they just want to show they're 'on the right side of history'.

Berserk fans getting mad people don't wanna watch graphic depictions of rape and mutilation, sometimes both, is both sad and amusing. People don't wanna watch rape taking place, how...horrific? How is that a bad thing exactly? Doesn't matter if it's "realistic" it's disgusting
Explaun rhe appeal of watching that to me, cause clearly I am missing something
Before saying rape is a repulsive, disgusting act, vs after sating rape is a repulsive, disgusting act. Guys, I know it's a series you like, but getting mad at people being repulsed by graphics depictions of rape isn't a good thing.
This is basically a form of autism. In SJW-land, bad people in fiction can't do bad things or people will emulate them, because in their heads, every work of fiction serves a didactic purpose and is supposed to be treated as a 100% literal manual for real life. Therefore, you cannot depict dysfunctional people, cruel people, criminals, alcoholics, drug abusers, murderers, rapists, et cetera, without one of these absolute dipshit morons complaining about it. Bonus no-no points if it's a racial or gender minority acting in a morally questionable way. It's fine to show wypipo as villains, but a black transwoman killing someone in cold blood? That's doubleplusungood.
This is why the SJW idea of a villain is a cardboard standup character who spouts menacing lines like a pull-string doll but never actually does anything evil. Their brains are utterly incapable reckoning with the concept of cruelty.
A lot of people laughed at the Card Crusher vid over the years, but that's because they don't realize what's happening in it.
Professor Yun Himonya, the guy being interviewed, is a linguistics professor at Tokai University. He was using the business card being crushed as a demonstration of cruelty as a concept.
One of the best ways to introduce a villain is to show them being cruel and inhuman. Something uncanny and monstrous, beyond the understanding of normal people. A villain isn't just a guy who says intimidating lines every now and then. A villain is a force that is willing to destroy people, crush their spirits, violate their bodies, and mock them every step of the way for their weakness.
Compare and contrast. Saren Arterius in ME1 is introduced by shooting his friend in the back of the head and then lying about it before the council:
That's an amazing villain. Jesus Christ. You get chills just seeing this fucker.
Now, this is what happens when SJWs take over the writing team. You get the Kett Archon:
All he does is kidnap your sibling and figuratively twirl his mustache and cackle off-screen like Snidely fucking Whiplash. Not villainous, not impressive at all.
SJWs don't understand how to depict cruelty. They get confused and freaked out when they see other people depicting it, too. It's very strange.
Can you imagine an SJW ever writing a scene like in Whiplash, when Fletcher dresses down Neiman in front of everyone?
Of course not. This incredible, tense, emotionally charged scene would have been replaced with some saccharine-sweet pap that only a mind sheltered by safe spaces in the adult daycares called colleges could ever produce.
Audiences want to see cruelty, and they want to see characters rise above it and excel. Why? Because it's cathartic! Normal people, when they see a baddie get their comeuppance, are elated in equal magnitude to his or her crimes. For an SJW, witnessing fictional cruelty and retribution is not cathartic at all. It's a distressing experience that makes these mental midgets writhe in their baby strollers. Our colleges are producing graduates that are something subtly less than human. If they're incapable of reckoning with evil in fiction, it's no wonder they can't comprehend the idea of evil in the real world. It's no wonder they let our governments and institutions literally get away with murder. It takes a truly perverse mind to worry more about tits and ass in a comic book than sex trafficking in real life. Imagine caring more about how many black people there are in LOTR than how many black people there are in Libyan slave markets. The demoralization is complete.
