Biggest bullshit in a video game

One of their lead devs literally majored in Marxist theory at university, I have his record floating around somewhere. Unfortunately fuckwits like this see their job as advancing the cause of global Marxism through non traditional media rather than making a fun game. It’s why V went so fucking wrong with its focus on minorities and the jarring placement of bionic women in WW1. Rewriting the past to plant lies in the minds of the stupid is a basic weapon of all shitty culture wars.

I think that unless DICE cuts out the political cancer making their games into interactive propaganda, then 2042 is going to bomb as badly as Cyberpunk did. Hire woke diversity instead of competence and you’re asking for trouble.
my suspicion is that EA is aware of that, but they can't nuke dice because the name still has some brand value. so they go the gamepass route, they sell you 2042 with a portal to play all the other and probably better battlefield games, and since you have to go through the portal they can claim 2042 is a stunning success, even if the majority of players sits in bf4/1 (maybe hardline but I doubt it).

Warzone is trying to do a similar approach with streamlining access to MW, Cold War, and Vanguard into one unified experience. The main menu is literally three panels of games. The incentive is to buy the series directly from the publisher.

Game Pass (xCloud) is doing that with Battlefield V, but you cannot seamlessly access 4, 1 or Hardline back and forth. Why is 1 and V available to stream but not 4 and Hardline?

Replaying RDR2 and Arthur leaving his long guns on his horse when he dismounts like the dumb kid that would leave his lunchbox on the school bus. Nothing like expecting to go boar hunting except you left your hunting rifle on your horse, as professional outlaws typically do.
RDR2 has a bunch of bullshit in it for no reason other than railroading, "realism", and cut content. Other issues include, but are not limited to:
  • The fact that despite supposedly being the Legend of the East, Arthur is unable to get the Legend of the East outfit because you can't complete all the game's challenges as him unless you use glitches and oversights.
  • The fact that the entire bottom half of the map is inaccessible to Arthur unless you use glitches and exploits.
  • Just the sheer amount of ungodly railroading this game does to you.
  • Guarma. Just all of it.
  • Mexico is not explorable outside of glitches, and exploits despite having its own music, ambient sounds, and towns, and settlements partially developed.
  • There's only four horse stable slots. Meaning you can only keep four horses at a time. Even when you get your own horse corral you can't keep anymore.
  • The legendary catfish isn't in the game despite appearing on the in-game map, and after you see it literally eat someone.
  • You can't bury the many, many dead people you just find scattered throughout the game, or even tell someone about it. You just have to let them rot in their houses forever.

RDR2 was simply: "Hey autistic people! Do you wanna know what it's like to be a cowboy?"

It's a technical marvel but holy shit what the fuck is the point of half the shit in the game?
It's literally just to flex, and to provide "immersion" and "realism", even if it's at the cost of fun.

"Look! We have realistic horse balls!"

"Where the fuck are my other stable slots?"

"...REALISTIC HORSE BALLS!!!"

I love the game, but holy fuck, we're their priorities fucking skewed when making it.

GTAV was like this. Yes, R*, your hyper-aggressive police AI is extremely impressive but once my wanted level gets to 3 stars I may as well reload the autosave and save myself the bother.

Why is the police AI so intelligent when the civilian AI will pull out immediately in front of my car, every single time?

I think that was more Rockstar wanting to make getting away from the police as tedious as possible.

For god's sake, helicopters will spawn at the highest altitude just to prolong the agony, that ain't realistic at all.

Everything about GTA V police was fucking insufferable, especially seeing the shills saying it wasn't that bad back when it was released.

Ok maybe I can understand spawning close to the player, maybe I can understand police being able to sense a crime with no witnesses, maybe I can understand being able to hone in on the player and maybe I can understand sharpshooter police FROM A FUCKING HELICOPTER. But not all four at once.

GTA IV had a much better wanted system with the cops not spawning on top of you and having Pay n' Spray.

Sure, it might've been "too easy", but give me something easy & fun over something tedious & overly drawn out.

I wouldn't say "too easy," as they did put up a fight. IV's police system was tough but fair. A nuanced player would be able to workaround it using the game's logic.

V's police system is just unfair. The window to be out of sight is too long, espeically during missions to where there's a time limit for Gold if you're going for that. The AI has aimbot and teleportation. They will kill you in seconds.

And why does silenced weapons in the middle of the desert warrant every sheriff and cop to be in my vicinity?

It's been theorized that because the GTA series was viewed as a mass murder simulator by parents and media they wanted to at least try to get away from that, and made dealing with the police as tedious as possible in an attempt to tone down that aspect of the game. Don't know how true that actually is but I can certainly believe it.

I think it's a combo of that and last gen engine limitations that prevented MASSIVE gunfights because the engine straight up couldn't handle it. If you sped down the highway fast enough the roads wouldn't load properly so the super snipers were a way of stopping chases before you exposed the limits.

Of course, why that continued with the next gen and PC versions I'll never know.

Considering V has Rampage missions as side quests? I doubt that had anything to do with it. R* just fucked it up.

The 4 limit horse stables kind of chapped my ass a little. I found out about McDonald's deep lore through Rogue Internet Man and was naming my horses accordingly. I feel like it's appropriate since a portion of McDonald's food is horse meat anyway.

I got a red horse named Ronald, one named Birdie, a black and white striped horse named Hamburglar, and a big dumb draft horse called Grimace. I unlocked the black Arabian. Obviously this black horse would be Mac Tonight. Instead of building up the cholesterol crew and keeping with the McDonald's theme, Birdie got sent to the glue factory. Morgans are really only good for two things, adhesive and eating, So I guess that's more big bullshits in RDR 2.

Blackflame Friede... I can do her first two phases without taking a single hit. Her third phase? Yeah, no. I have seen multiple guides on fighting her, but I can't get my useless stubby fingers to actually do it. I can punish the initial jump but in general I can't get a single hit after that (when I decided to take a break she had literally jumped out of 3 backstab animations). Three hours and I am no closer to beating her than before. No sunbros either, but you can expect invasions within a few seconds of embering up.

Patience. I've learned that trying to deal with a chadified Priscilla is simply to just wait. It's basically the same issue with Wolnir and Twin Princes, there is the urge to go full retard and attack all the time. A lot of her attacks are quite easy to read.

Playing Black Mesa I had forgotten how long HL1 is for a non-open-world campaign FPS and how bullshit the genre is now with its linear level design, cutscenes all over the place that actually break the immersion and specially how handholding-ish the difficulty has become

Also the AI, NPCs and bots in other games just stand there (looking at you PUGB) with a hitbox the size of a barn. The AI in BM despite being HL2's from 2004 is way less retarded and dodge/take cover a lot more
theres one of the Assassins Creed games, i think black flag?
The one with the pirate ships, some of the legendary ships you can attack had some of the most absurd AI's with ships that can turn on a dime and run circles around you.
And thats the best asscreed game mind you

A lot of the AI has been borrowed from F.E.A.R, especially with the marines' tendency to flank and immediately charge the moment you are reloading, which is painful especially at hard difficulty. Black Mesa feels like an adage of old videogame design with modern paint, and that's a good thing. Also, if you want good multiplayer bots, Counter-Strike: Source is right around the corner.
