Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
There's some good news regarding active abilities. A leak from a while ago what was confirmed true by the reveal trailer (either that or someone managed to get his hands on the reveal trailer earlier and decided to make shit up about the gameplay) confirms that characters have multiple active abilities this time around, you also see the Siren using what seems to be two different abilities in the trailer.

I didn't notice that in the trailer, but one of the abilities being a pair of fists could still have the Siren having 1 active and 1 melee replacement ability (or her default melee is the "ghost fists" thing). The second ability in particular looks very similar to Maya's active ability from BL2 which isn't exactly inspired.

I hope they've got more to show whenever the next promotional thing happens but it doesn't seem to be too earth shattering so far.

Now for the usual suspects to tell us why we should suck up and buy from an objectively inferior and pro-publisher store considering Epic is clearly worse than Steam and WILL be worse than Steam IF (hopefully they won't) they take over Steam as the dominant monopoly of the PC Digital Storefronts.

Making this pre-emptively for the inevitable announcement tomorrow. Will edit if actually happens or remove if it's not exclusive.

Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell you you should buy Borderlands 3 from the Epic store, in fact I'm going to suggest that you spend your money on a gun instead and shoot yourself in the head before playing any of the games in that garbage series. Other options include stepping in front of a train or trying to swim the atlantic. Be well, gamers!

Honestly after playing the PreSequal and being really disappointed by some of the aspects of this. I honestly really don't care about another Borderlands game. The Division 2 is already out and there is scores of content to play on it. Best of all, you can use Uplay and it works just fine. It sucks that you can't give people games on Uplay, but you can't do it on Epic either.

Really tho, has Gearbox made anything worthwhile since Borderlands 2? That was 7 years ago. I am amazed there is even talk of a Borderlands 3. I can only see this as possibly going horribly.

@BoomerDenton , my only points in this whole thing are:

1.) That Steam isn't as pure as the wind driven snow
2.) Cheering a Steam Monopoly in the name of consumer rights is oxymoronic and will only lead to Gaben going back to doing nothing while the platform burns
3.) Maybe gaming consumers should look and endorse other options that can work besides (Steam - Complacent and getting worse) and (Epic - Bad and hopefully a one trick wonder) as well as start separating their social aspects from their commercial. Because Epic proved that yes, your social data is valuable and disturbingly marketable.

If you are looking for a fight, I am sure at this point there are other people willing to give it to you better than I can.

Well what does it have that Steam and GoG doesn't have?
What does it do better than Steam and GoG?
I know you guys are clearly just shitposting because this is a subject that is pissing a lot of people off (including me) but come on you are making it too darn obvious.

No, in this case serious posting.

Already enjoying the Division 2 and its enormous amounts of content. Already have 2 characters ready to do Tidal Basin on Friday. Want to try to get a third prepared to take it and go to world tier 5. My point is at this point, I really don't care about Borderlands 3. Seems like a bad idea. Just like this bait and thread. There is no reason for me to care about Borderlands 3. I can't think of a reason for anyone else to either, honestly.

well as a first thing it doesn't have garbage social media elements lol

Gabe isn't going to be around forever either, at some point Valve is going to go to hell, far worse than they already have. As bad as Valve's general productivity has gotten, it's going to get worse when the old guard is all gone. I'm old enough to remember when there was no such thing as Steam and online digital distribution of video games was unheard of, which is not to say that I think I'm very old and wise or that I think that it's been a long time since then, only that I suspect some other people talking about this do not remember that time, and treat Steam as an immutable fact of life that they can't adjust to being without.

Exclusive video games lol.

If you'd actually read any of our "pro-epic" posts you'd realise that it's not all shitposting, and all we really want for the most part is competition for Valve, I've stated a couple of times that I haven't even spent a penny on the Epic store, I've just been collecting free giveaway copies and watching the whole thing develop. I don't realistically think Epic can dethrone Valve as the king of digital video game distribution but I do think they can be enough of a threat to rekindle the flame and bring back some of that old Valve magic, the stuff that won them the position they're in right now. Valve's last non-multiplayer microtransaction-funded game was Portal 2 and that's 8 fucking years old at this point.

The world does not revolve around you, my opinions exist independent of your or anyone else's butthurt over them.

I figured that Prickford would find a way to fuck up his cashcow.

The fact that it could still be a cash cow shows how eager people are for a true Borderlands game again despite being frequently disappointed by Gearbox. I gave up on them, but sadly most people still believe in them. The USB incident had me roll my eyes. After seeing a recent picture of Randy Pitchford, I am getting a strong sense he is a living mid life crisis.

Imagine actually caring about Epic Games Store drama.

What is worse is that in 2019, people still care about Gearbox.

To be honest, I like me some Borderlands.

Borderlands 2 was the last good game of theirs. The PreSequal was a disappointment. It had some good features, but it wasn't a full game. You would think after their other failed ventures, that people would see a pattern.

Think Bioware and everything after Mass Effect 2. At some point, we all have to accept that it just is not getting any better.

I'm not going to judge a game before it's released regardless of the past.

then again I liked ME3 as well
