Breadtube, is without a shadow of a doubt another shallow youtube trend like skeptics. My 14+ years of experience with the platform makes me really want to press x to doubt. Identical interchangeable videos and channels like breadtube hardly ever pop up organically. Contra points got a lot of shout outs from the msm and people noticed got jealous and hoped on the trend train. Just having a dumb name like breadtube is indicative of a trend like storytime animators or ani-tubers etc.
I don't think it will ever be as large as the anti sjw vid scene is what I was saying. Anti sjw vids were short and even the non overtly political could find entertainment in them. A lot more clickbaity as well. H3h3 were making them at one point. Pretty sure pewdiepie did too. It wasnt just skeptics.
Skeptics started out as athiest tubers anyway, that's where the title skeptic came from. These people already had a following by making fedora athiest videos. That somehow turned into anti sjw liberalist content. Gamergate infused people like Carl into them.
Anything can be a trend but it doesn't mean it will catch on. Contrapoints is the only relevant one that ppl have heard of and that is solely because shes trans. She was making videos as a dude countering the skeptics and never really caught on until recently. The channel isn't new. His old videos are actually far superior than his content as a woman. He had an actual personality back then and the videos actually had a point. They were far more leftist messaged as well. Now he seems to basically be a liberal after becomming rich. Dunno if that he even fits into the actual meaning of breadtube at this point. Being trans doesn't make one a leftist.
Skeptics were quite numerous and all the big ones have 100k to 1 milli sub channels. There's what? 3 or 4 larger breadtubers?
