Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Players didn't want more futurism or jet packs. It didn't matter how well it was done; it strayed too far from the COD brand identity. It would be like if McDonald's released the best fast food chicken sandwich of all time, but it replaced the Big Mac on the menu and they called it New Big Mac. Anybody ordering a Big Mac and expecting beef patties would be ticked.

If somebody wants to argue that Infinite Warfare was mismanaged from the beginning, I'm willing to believe that. From my experience from the mulitiplayer, it was miserable for me. Asking for a season pass, currency for loot boxes to get cool weapons AND having players zip and zoom every which way does not translate well for Call of Duty, least for me.

As someone who played IW extensively when it came out, and had fun with it all the way through... yeah, the game got mismanaged. The MP was actually pretty good if you were okay with playing a faster-paced run & gun style akin to the older DOOM games, though it really wasn't for everyone. There were a LOT of questionable balance issues; the "Slavo" variant of the M2187 was the most egregious for the longest time, as for whatever reason it (almost literally) had the range of a sniper and the general spread of a shotgun, on top of the three-round burst AND being a Supply Drop-only weapon. Nowadays, the game has the meta of playing the Synaptic Rig and using the Titan with specific attachments and only a perk or two, as well as dodging bullets worse than Advanced Warfare; any attempts at experimentation get shot down hard.

Still remember the good days of half the lobby running around with swords and axes and fighting like a bunch of coked up retards; it was a complete shitshow, but it was still bizarrely fun, and it's not like the game made all other weapons shit. Now it's just sweats and kiddies with the "meta" shit.

EDIT: Spelling.

CoD: WWII is on Game Pass now. Unsurprisingly, some playlists are showing some activity with a couple stragglers in other less desired modes. I'll have to play more consistently during afternoon hours, but I managed to find lobbies of Gun Game, Domination/Hardpoint/Kill Confirmed, Search & Destroy, even inside the Ranked Play moshpit. So, that's a perfect excuse to play more WWII for more variety. How long it stays like this reminds to be seen, but I want to enjoy it as long as possible.

Various CoDs were down for a four hour maintenance period today.

I'm guessing for PC, because I was able to connect into WWII on Xbox, albeit slower than usual.

What's sad is that I forgot Black Ops 6 takes place in the 90s. This isn't even an entertainment entity anymore, it's a cynical, consumer product with no identity of its own.

On that, there's an updated video on how and why CoD isn't safe to play on PC.

With that, the Microsoft Store version of CoD: WWII for PC Game Pass has exploits where malicious actors could control your machine. I guess that four hour downtime did not do anything for security.

Oh, and CoD: WWII disabled the ability to share and upload custom emblems. (The ability to create them is still there, but again, you cannot have them on your playercard.) Anybody that had a custom emblem shows up as blank.

This has been a problem for years on PC, they briefly fixed Black Ops 3 on steam before hackers found a way around the patch.

It's best to avoid multiplayer games on PC in general, play multiplayer games on console only.

I thought about downloading WWII on PC to get the PC achievement stack but it'd be impossible to do so now. I don't want my information stolen lol.

You're partially right. So far, the consistent way to play Call of Duty online is on Xbox platforms. Even so, older CoDs are still prone to hackers/modders on 360. I say Xbox over PlayStation because after PSN introduced a name chance feature, some CoDs would either not keep your data or make the game inaccessible on PS3.

I thought there was a fan made client for CoD: WWII but I haven't heard of anything yet. So, I'd say steer clear at the least.

At this point it's better to just play the games with bots. Every COD after MW3 has them.
Sure, it's not like the real thing, but they won't give your computer a RAT. Besides, you will never be able to re-live the old times anyways, at best you will play a game or two with some stragglers or find a hacker that will make you quit anyways. This is why I love the zombies and survival modes in those games, you can play them infinitely and no second player is required.

The audacity of Activision taking down H2M Remastered, but selling and, allowing their official PC ports to be compromised at full price doesn't fail to surprise me.

Unpopular opinion, but I'm glad they disabled the emblem creator from WWII.

The next crossover for Black Ops 6 looks to be ... American Dad, another cartoon.

That hitbox has to be massive.

That explains the four hour maintenance downtime. All that money spent on crossovers couldn't save those studios.
I seriously thought this was a joke after the Beavis & Butthead pack. Like someome just made a funny prediction with models from gmod. Then I found out this is actually real.

Imagine actually paying money for this shit.

I'm even hearing that the Beavis and Butthead operators are "pay-to-lose" for Warzone. I mean, you're a cel-shaded, bright character in a realistic world.

If you play Warzone, you already lost from the start since it's overrun with hackers. Even big time streamers and actual MLG guys are getting shot by assholes hiding under the map and Activision isn't doing anything about it. We're one step away from seeing actual cheating in official tournaments, altho last I checked there is so little seats sold this year that you would think you were looking at the turnout of Creator Clash 3.

I've seen enough Warzone content to know that it's not for me. What fun is it to get beamed with "meta" weapon builds by some random character bunny hopping/sliding all over the place?

"BO7 will be just like BO2, we're returning to our roots!"
*Trusted leaker immediately retorts that the game will be the same piece of shit as BO6, complete with tiny ass maps and doors*
Get ready for BO7 to be the new MW6 aka MW2023, aka MW5(2022).5 standalone DLC bought for full price. Oh wait, at least you could carry over cosmetics between these two games, with BO6 your shitty cartoon skins are forever stuck in that one soon to be dead game, just like Activision will forever have your money.

Clip is right at the start, altho this seems to be a best-hits compilation of sorts, so if you want to catch Activision lies from at least Vanguard era, this is the video for you.
