Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
That may open up cosmetic microtransactions, knowing Activision. I hope customization returns in spades for multiplayer with minimal F2P crap.
They will probably do the battle pass scam like in Modern Warfare 2019 and all the cool stuff will be behind microtransactions.
At the end of the trailer they've showed vehicles for the multiplayer, I hope they continue to develop the big team mode to attract the Battlefield audience since DICE has decided to cater to their CEO's woke 12 year-old girl and the gamejournos.

Battlefield 4, which has a campaign set in China came out in 2013. Set in the year .... 2020. Boom.
I liked the campaign of BF4 even though it was bugged on PC, you couldn't change the FOV and the squadmates had blank ammunition.

That map did look massive. Not like a level but a wide open area. I thought it was campaign for a second.

Battlefield basically took a big risk in hindsight now or at the best time, included China in the multiplayer and shitty single player campaign.
Even as safe as the story took it with the "we gotta protect the good and noble Chinese president from the evil military coup" plot, the whole concept is pretty laughable today.

The president convincing the Chinese military to stop fighting on the spot because the soldiers have such a deep respect for an ultra-liberal is the height of comedy.

I think you can probably forget about this game being "redpilled".

Although to be 100% fair the classified designation actually makes sense in the context of this game. It's just their actual reasoning behind it that is retarded.

I hope the game will let me play as a completely unidentifiable vaguely-human thing, a-la HUNK.

I wonder which mode will be exclusive to Sony's console for a year.

To me it sounds like a bullshit reason to appease the gamejournos and get some clicks. The real reason might be for roleplay purposes, I mean it's a game about classified missions so it makes sense that the names and gender of the participants could be redacted.

Yeah, but if we go by the assumed progression of the story: I don't know how a woman fits into that. Unless you're playing a spook.

But considering we have Nam levels, from an infantrymen perspective. Then probably moving to SOG. Then military special ops during the cold war.

It seems you're playing a military character...

How long before we get articles about how the game glorifies violence against trans people, or reports of them being ganged up on when playing online?

Am I the only one that got reminded of "Spy Game" with Redford and Pitt?
If I remember correctly they were smuggling people who defected over the east German border in that movie. And that one guy's hair ( seems to be the group leader) just screams Redford when he recruited Pitt in Vietnam for the CIA.
Looking forward to this. Not pre-ordering anything anymore, but awaiting the Judgment of people I know who are going to buy it.

Agree,

I played the mission earlier today to get the video and first thing I thought one was of the guys looked liked Redford.

Gonna disagree on this one.

Having the main character be a generic blank slate like The Boss from Saints Row or someone like HUNK from RE2 or Claude Speed from GTA III is something that actually lends itself well to a game like this, especially with the protagonist being customized. It lends itself well to both the RP aspects and the overall Cold War glow spook theme of the game.

Plus, I think this press release was meant as a way to "woke-proof" the game since they knew the usual suspects would be up in arms with the Yuri Bezmenov trailer.

Possibly.

Also, they updated their website with a timeline. Seems to be implying BO2/3/4 are still canon.
