Capcom's War Against Modding - Games older than ten years shall not be spared from Capcom's DRM against modding because some coomer couldn't keep his nude mods from spilling out of his pants at a tourney.

You are a literal retard with your own thread. Also a scot thus a man in a skirt. Gay and bri*ish.
We aren't all pathetic retards like this twat. Then again the country is filled to tbe brim with dune coons and troons, so I can't blame people for thinking we're all muppets.
Invisible Crane, do me and the rest of god's green earth a favor here and stop fucking breathing.
It'd certainly make female voice actors breathe a sigh of relief if he shuffled off this mortal coil. :story: Tara Strong in particular

Back to the topic at hand: I wonder how this is going to play out with regards to other game companies. I know some of them already do their best to kill modding so they're probably waiting to see if the heat dies down for Capcom before saying anything about DRM additions or if they'll go as far as the slopes have. Maybe it's because I'm a paranoid fucker but this seems like it's also been done to prepare for digital only games rather than stopping nude mods or whatever bullshit they're using as an excuse. You had that Ubisoft saying we need to get comfortable not owning our games any longer and those french wannabes aren't the only studio who's thinking this I'm sure. You've already got some game "journos" defending it which isn't a surprise.

I'm honestly glad Breath of Fire was killed by Capcom. Not because it was bad, but because the games we got were so good, they would fuck up the next numbered sequel with some gay woke bullshit in addition to having shit gameplay. I would have been most pissed than when they did that retarded stunt of making a now dead mobile game a numbered entry in the series instead of a side game.

Edit: Typo
While I was never a huge BOF fan, I agree with this sentiment entirely.

I said elsewhere, I saw a video on youtube where someone lamented that the Megaman series seems to have basically ended (outside of compilations and re-releases) and I'm just like... why is that a bad thing, exactly?

Mega Man is lucky, as a series, for going on for decades and never really having a "dark age"... at least, in terms of "the games were never abjectly terrible, barring a few stand-outs." But I mean... Mega Man 11 was kinda not that good, and feels like a game made just to stick it to Keiji Inafune. Plus, Capcom's writers have NEVER been good and I don't trust any direction they would've taken the series.

Actually Megaman is one classic franchise where I feel the point of keeping it going is lost entirely for the sheer fact that its basic gameplay formula is one of the most cloned things in existence. Like, we barely need a new Classic or X-style game when there's already like a million of them on any digital storefront you could name, and that's before you get into all the free possibilities like fangames and romhacks. We basically do not need another Mega Man game anymore.

I feel the same about Sonic in all honesty. I guess its not easy being blue.

Excuse me you stupid subhuman worthless cunt?
"stupid subhuman worthless cunt" is what I would call someone with your tiny dick, Grant McLellan. You know, the one you let pathetically flop willy nilly on your stream while drunk? Anyone who doesn't know what I am talking about can easily click on your profile and follow the ED link to find out more! "Invisible Crane" has never been more appropriate because that's the second name I would give to your virgin micro pecker. You know, the one that has never touched a woman, so it might as well be "invisible" to them.

All-digital is definitely the future modern gaming seems to be going in. They want games to be streamed too so you don't even own the files on your console or computer.
Thankfully, most games these days aren't worth the trouble of pirating so who gives a shit. Old games will always be preserved so if someone pulls a stunt like Capcom has, they will simply lose what little trust people had for them. This is not good, since this impacts their profits, no matter what they say.
Every year, I appreciate physical media more and more. Might be a good idea to snag some now, if there is a good price, before scalping gets even worse. Paranoid me also thinks companies might start buying old games in bulk only to hoard or destroy them to further force people to re-buy their shitty, censored re-releases. We need decent collectors and preservers now more than ever

The quality of video games has taken such a nosedive in the ground that frankly it's impressive. Video game companies are putting their heart & soul into jewing the consumer instead of making good games in which to reap the profits that way. You have Rockstar, a previously phenomenal company, now talking about potentially charging the customer by the minute to play their games like it's some sort of fucking premium rate sex hotline. Video game companies should be smarter than being this blatant about their jewery because it is stupidly easy to pirate games on PC and it's not that much harder to mod a console in order to be able to pirate games. If you piss people off enough they are going to stop buying your products. You'll always have those whales who'll gargle corpo cock and balls until the day they die but that's not going to be nearly enough to sustain them. You're bang on about the need for archivers and the like, it's why I don't take pirate groups for granted as without them we'd have lost access to a shit ton of older video games by now. I wouldn't be shocked if you're right and they are buying up old stock to destroy because as we've saw in the past there is very little they wouldn't do in order to turn a profit.

I would really appreciate it if you idiots would stop falling for the blatantly obvious bait from an account with a react score in the negative thousands.
It was fun to poke the retard for a wee while but he's become boring now. I doubt anyone else is going to bother trying to get him to chimp out for that very reason.

UMvC3 and arguably Dead Rising 3 were their last good games, everything after was crap.
Nah, take off the rose-tinted glasses, and UMvC3 was a shitty 3d version of MvC2 meant for the SoCal FGC. The balance was a bigger clusterfuck in Ultimate, and Jean was still bullshit in Ultimate (only she took more effort to be bullshit).
There is no woke shit in the gamed you fucking moron
The game flat out shits on Ken from the get-go, which was leaked during its development (Crapcom planned his character assassination from day one). Kim and Lily are ESG characters made to replace more popular characters (Guy and T. Hawk), and Manon looks like an actual tranny. Marisa was made to look like a manly tranny for the dommy-mommy faggots, and they put drag queen and lbgt sexual predators in the game (the drag queen lighting in one of the stages). The game is a woke turd with shitty balance and slimy monetization. JP was the only decent new character.
Diversity is not a bad thing you fucking moron
Yes it is when they're soulless characters with stereotypes built into them like Kim (Black hoodlum girl with spray paint). Kimberly and Lily are so fucking soulless and insulting replacements to their original characters because their "passing of the torch" looked forced for Larry Fink's ESG bucks. Nothing about the Guy -> Kim transition was natural, and the same can be said for Lily with T. Hawk. Diversity is not strength when the tranny you hired bullies and harasses people over pronouns on a daily basis while Tyrone, Jose, and Rashid get people hurt on the job for being stoned, careless fucks with dangerous equipment. Bait or no bait, it needs to be said.
Your all cunts. Your all cunts. Your all unlikeable subhuman scum cunts
Go spend time with a tranny who is batshit insane and dangerous, and then come to talk me (one of the worst life experiences ever).

Honestly, I only cared because it had Frank West and a few other characters. I don't really care about the meta, I suck at fighting games anyways, and as an outsider this one was pretty fun. MVC2 is still better tho.
Speaking of Ken, I heard they cucked him from the leaks. How bad is it in the final game?

He gets set up by JP, the new big bad, to take the fall for an incident in some base, and everyone either pities or hates him. He's also a mopey, mongloid bitch who struggles to be a "street fighter again" and control his bloodlust. Never mind he settled down with Eliza and Mel, and entered tournaments when he had time. Never mind in the older games Ryu helped him mature and calm down when both of them were training;. Never mind all of the Shadaloo and Gill experiences he had with Ryu and friends. Never mind he willingly trained Sean, and tolerated his screw ups. Of course all the Capcuck shills are defending this saying, "Muh Evul Ken setup." I won't be surprised if it leads to Evil Ken, and I know Crapcom will ruin Evil Ken like they ruined Ken.

My bet is someone western, sjw employee working in Crapcom Japan tried to tell the SF6 team to go all out on making Ken a loser for "character development" until the leaks happened. The intent to destroy Ken for Blackrock ESG bucks and Twitter ratios was absolutely there because they also try to remind you how much of a "hero" (note: insufferable and unlikable Mudslime, Arab faggot) Rashid was for helping Chun Li beat Shadaloo in Duty Fighter V (Ryu and Ken? Fuck that! It was all about Rashid when he went on his awesome social justice adventure with his Arab faggot friend no one cares about!).

That Shadaloo story in SFV was pure ass cancer, specifically the way they handled Nash/Charlie and his reunion with Guile.

I haven't kept up with the SF storyline but to be honest Street Fighter's "canon" has been kinda stupid for awhile now.

I recall seeing that awful Legend of Chun-Li movie and its plot point that Bison intentionally put all his "good" traits inside of Rose so that he could be pure evil and all powerful, and saying "this sounds like the kind of thing an American superhero comic would come up with," only to be sorely disappointed that no, this particular piece of retardation actually comes from the games.

I never really liked the idea that Ryu had this evil power inside him that he was constantly fighting to control, either.

Basically, the SF canon should have ended with the anime movie.

I've been told that SF6 literally treats the heroes like a superhero team, which is just all sorts of weird.

Judging from what is being said I'm really glad I haven't gave a fuck about Street Fighter for a long time. Capcom really are earnestly doing their level best to destroy all faith I've ever had for them and I doubt I'm the only one. It seems like they've given in completely to the woke cancer which is no surprise if I'm honest.

Every fucking company is doing this now and it's time to stop. I hate that we are in this era where if something ends up being a hit suddenly that's all that gets made. It started with superheroes, hero shooters then it was battle royale pish and so on. Now we're getting this inbred mix of everything in the one game. They're flinging things at the wall in the hope that a winning formula sticks out which is why we get a very small number of decent games anymore. I've not even included things like Live Service games which happens to be the worse thing to happen to gaming in a long time.

This was really cemented to me recently when the Ubisoft guy said "gamers need to get used to the idea of not owning their games."

I am out when games become stream only that you pay 100 dollars for the privilege of renting from a company. I will pirate and play old shit until the day I die.

This era has sadly been a thing for awhile.

I recall it leading to the death of one of my favorite companies, Sierra On-Line. They were known for mostly point and click adventures (though they dabbled in other things), but then in the late 1990s someone decided that the only games anyone wanted were online competitive games so they tried to hard pivot towards that.

Among other casualties, apparently the reason Space Quest 7 never got made is the team was trying hard to figure out how to make Space Quest (which was a point and click adventure series) work in an "online multiplayer" framework, and it just could not be done.

If they had stuck with what they were good at, they would have survived. As it is, they became little more than a publishing label and got bought out by Vivendi Universal, who basically just wanted to milk their IPs. At least they're generous enough to allow the games to stay available on sites like GOG though.

........

Also yeah it does bother me when properties that aren't superhero properties wind up taking on that kind of mentality. I could handle it back when that one American-made cartoon had the Street Fighters actually being part of a GI Joe like organization (in part because that cartoon was actually fun, but also because this was so early that Street Fighter didn't really have an "identity" yet)... but when I see things like the characters jumping out of an aircraft without a parachute as if them surviving a fall like that is just a casual expectation, I've mentally checked out.

It's probably better than that awful King of Fighters: Destiny CGI anime though, which for some reason turns 90% of the cast into comic relief. (Not to be confused with KOF: Another Day, which was actually quite good)
