I agree that it is about the gayest truck I've seen, but in a mostly positive way. 95% of trucks I see don't have anything in the bed. Any truck made after 1999 has terminal toughest guy in the Walgreens parking lot syndrome. Regrettably, I own two.

I want to see a maverick rock crawler now. Remember when that guy lifted a Prius and put mud dauber tires on it and creamed a bunch of jeeps while maintaining 30 mpg?

Can we bring back the Nissan hardbody though? Is that too much to ask for? Or at least the last gen ranger?
I like the current Rangers. I test drove two before I found my Land Cruiser and I have to admit I was really impressed with the XLT's handling, comfort and speed. It's not the best truck by any means, but it seemed like if it were 20% cheaper they'd be a lot better regarded and an honest attempt to dethrone the Tacoma as the best NA light pick up. The only truck I tested and didn't really like was a 2018 F-150 diesel. It just felt pointless. Like it was openly admitting defeat in the face of the Chevy 1500, Nissan Titan and Tundra and just saying "I'm only here because my mom said she'd get me some gushers and the nacho lunchables if I came to practice this week.". It made me sad because I want to like Ford's that aren't 350s and Rangers, but the ones inbetween are just shitty sedans with a bed or really shitty muscle cars with more expensive tires.

Man, I feel like I'm in the minority. I was going to buy a ranger when it first came out but I absolutely hated the 10 speed. It always felt like it was hunting for the right gear. I was so spoiled by Chrysler 6 speed autos that I forgot how the other 1/3rd lives. Also, the bolstering in those trucks drive me up the wall. It feels like a sedan, and not in a good way.

When I drive a 2010 ranger, it's small but at least I can spread my legs and hang my arm out the window. When truck prices stop being fucked in a few years and before I move for work again I'm grabbing a Tacoma.

On a side note I flipped a 2003 Dakota with super low miles. That truck has absolutely no power and no brakes but man, it is super cozy and easy to park.

You said you have a land cruiser in the other thread right? Now those are shooting up in value. Are older SUVs climbing in value lately or have they always been on the expensive side?

Edit: whoops I didn't read your post man I suck

LC's have always been expensive in the US since Toyota decided that the 4runner was good enough. They still sell like 3,000 actual Land Cruisers here every year, so they're rare, but the Lexus GX and LX are Land Cruiser platforms, just with leather seats, a comfier interior/ride and a smaller engine thats just as thirsty. It's odd because the only people you ever notice I'm in a no-shit Land Cruiser are other dads at the grocery store or 4x4 guys on the trail who look at it and ask if I bought it for 70k with 100k miles. They're super heavy, too since they're full frame from bumper to bumper and top to bottom, which makes the gas consumption even worse, but does make me not have to worry about going over shitty terrain and developing a leak from the sunroof. My wife went from neutral on it to loving it after we used it to go up some primitive roads to go shooting and my boys and dogs love it because its got a ton of space and I have it set up to charge their games and tablets while having pretty solid in-car WiFi and really good AC to the back seats.

I am shocked with how incredibly inexpensive parts are. I just got new ballasts and HID lights for the entire front of the car for less than $90, and my headlight bulbs alone ran $100 a pop in my last car. I even picked up a new throttle body, water pump and a transmission rebuild kit for it for a combined total of $260. It's really apparent that Toyota only hires 1 engineer per dept, and the one that handles 4x4 is very lazy and just repurposed everything as often as he can.

I learned to drive on an old as fuck Ronooll R4 delivery van from the 70's that had the stick in the middle of the cluster and you had to pull, push and turn it to make the shifts. I hated it.

I drive one of these. It gets the job done, I can park it anywhere and costs peanuts to fix it. I would change it if the family gets bigger.

My dream car is a Knee-son Figaro but I am broke as fuck to pay the import taxes and even the yearly imposed taxes to consider it. So instead I am saving for a Lancer Evo X or just the regular Lancer 2007 when the time comes. I have heard bad stuff about them but I am confident that I can tame the beast.

EDIT: Added the Ronooll model since I just recalled wich one was.

The Veloster N is made by Hyundai and has MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension. Looks ugly but is a properly fun hot hatch. The new Nissan Z though is mighty intriguing.
Yeah, that's my current ride - even in that light blue color. It's a riot and a half to drive and doesn't mind the occasional track day at all. I can drive it a few hours to the track, do the thing and then drive back and the car doesn't seem to give a shit.

One of the things I like about the N is that it skips all of that extra stuff and just has tons of go-faster parts added. The interior is pretty austere for a new car and the feature list is basically Android Auto and automatic climate. Everything else is basic as hell.

Are you the guy from /o/ that keeps catching metric tons of shit for posting Hyundai praise?

I saw a BMW X5 that was rolling coal two years in my city and I almost pulled over to laugh at it.
I hope it was a Cummins 4BT swap.

Have any of you seen the Wikipedia page for the Honda Ridgeline? It's the most detailed page for any car on Wikipedia and it's super long. Has everything you could ever ask about the Ridgeline down to the weight capacity of the tailgate. Give it a quick skim, it's insane!

I have seen it like 4 times in my entire life on different colors, counting one that I got to drive to make a delivery. Was comfy enough to drive it across 4 states but the infotainment system did not work. Sadly got totalled on a crash.

Speaking of trucks, does anyone had the chance to drive the Peugeot Landtrek? The dealership in my city does not have it on the showroom to request a test. I do not have plans to buy it but I am kinda curious to see how much effort Peyote put towards it.

Lol that's just a rebadged Chinese made Changan Kaicheng F70. Looks like a Ranger/Colorado ripoff.

Double post AND a car dox??? How terrible!

The Italians and their carburetors can fuck right off. Took me all afternoon to set the float height right then my battery ran out because of all the starts. Time to get a beer and laugh at jabronis on the internet

don't worry about the choke valve missing on the primary side, it's disabled <3

Oh, so they put no effort whatsoever then. I did not expected the best pick up ever made but that lazyness sure is disappointing.

I hope you enjoy your beer, I have not messed with italian cars but I know about the struggles of adjusting carburators. 🍻

Not around here, although I managed to make a little back on my freshened-up CR-V. There's two on craigslist under $1500 with a 5 speed. Moving out of the rust belt has its perks. Call me if you want me to get you one
Not really interested in a first gen CRV. It's too small for me and can't tow anything useful. Ideally I'd want a LX470 if I were to get a SUV of some sort. I'd be willing to compromise with a QX80 though for a full on tow rig. For a unibody SUV, there are a bunch of others I'd consider first over a CRV. Comfort and luxury are important to me so that leaves only a handful of unibody SUVs.

You got me there. I dont have much experience with other SUVs. I will say that as cool as the Cherokee looks, it doesn't even come close to the space of the CR-V. I did use mine to flag tow my project car to meets, but that ruined the brakes when I did that in Appalachia. It's hard for me to get over how much that old crapper worked for me when it absolutely shouldn't have. Now I have two huge trucks and I barely tow anything. Don't worry, I'm embarrassed

It's a heavily modified bug engine I rebuilt during lockdown. The carb is an Italian designed Weber, and I can confirm the idle circuit and vacuum lines looks like pasta. Changed to mechanical advance so I wouldn't have to deal with that crap

That just means you need to get a boat or an ultralight to start using those trucks more often.
