Well, at least they already have the guns. That's what they were going for, right? An armed revolt? Or was it a peaceful commune? I can't tell anymore.View attachment 1368088r/CapHillAutonomousZone - After hours of research and sifting through the bullshit, I think I’m finally able to contribute to the movement.

The entirety of Seattle's governance is economically illiterate. They also passed the $15 minimum wage law (which every economist, even ones of the left, acknowledge is financially ruinous in the long run). Both mayoral candidates claimed that the reason there were so many homeless people is because there "isn't enough housing" (despite luxury apartments in Capitol Hill sitting empty for years) leading them to pass a huge multi-million dollar tax on Amazon, the city's main moneymaker, for "homelessness programs". Knowing many low level Amazon jobs would be cut from that, regular Seattleites had some sense and actually protested that decision and made them overturn it. They have some of the biggest companies in America within their borders yet there is trash on the street and homeless people everywhere. They're just awful.Rent control is about half of what lead to the Bronx's death by a thousand arsons in the 70s. Rent control was passed during WW2 and stayed on the books through the 80s. Landlords lost any incentive to maintain their properties and in some cases they went to the mob to torch their buildings so they could collect insurance.
The other half was renters torching their units so they could jump up the waiting list for public housing.
You see, if these people actually paid attention to history and, heaven forbid, colonialism they would know that the most successful civilizations always spring up around a wealth of natural resources. Natural harbors, fertile land, rivers etc. Not in the middle of a city surrounded by potentially hostile forces. But I’m sure that women’s studies degree will help out tons in building your communist utopia.CHAZ should have been positioned near a coastline. If the leaders thought of getting boats and fishing nets, they could obtain quite a bit of seafood. Their garden is pathetic and won’t even feed more than 10 people at the most. If they learned the planting season, potatoes would be much better in terms of calories than tomatoes. Additionally, building fire pits would also be essential. It’s a good thing they’re only LARPing because they would all die of starvation if they couldn’t leave and were given no outside help.
I feel like this subreddit's been taken over by liberals and trolls
We've reached a point in our timeline where shit has gotten so out of wack that this show has become accurate representation rather than absurd exaggerationFinally, it's real
Better question: how long until the first cop is killed there?Any bets on how long until the first murder?
The American Left is already well on it's way to having a politically-based backward unworkable farming method. The organic and sustainable farming nonsense. They managed to shove that shit into universities too. It's a disgrace.Frankly, someone should introduce them to Lysenko's teachings and tell them it is suppressed knowledge, made unavailable by capitalists and reactionaries to keep a tight lid on food production and thus control over the masses. By making Lysenkoism appear like some revolutionary alternative method of growing crops, we could get Seattle's own fun-sized version of "The Great Leap Forwards" Famines.
The idea that they were going to grow anything on a glacial moraine from the last ice age is laughable. It's all rocks and sand and clay. They would have to spend decades working the land to have even mediocre soil. Somebody else around here mentioned that the community gardens in the area use raised beds with trucked in topsoil. The ground is that shitty. Not worth the effort. Never was.it's funny, assuming you have a piece of land available, it has never been easier to learn farming.
Due to illiteracy, for the past 10k years you had to learn it from your parents, everything went through words, nothing was written down.
Not only is all agricultural knowledge now written down, it's been perfected throughout the last 200 years and readily available on the same device that brings them Twitter.
It's so easy to learn about agriculture and keeping your population fed, yet they can't even be bothered to do that.
Anyone who thought this was going to be more than a 2 week farce is stupid imo, there's a reason why succesful rebellions and revolutions tend to start in rural areas and the countryside.
Any group that finds reading Wikipedia too much work is never going to start a succesful revolution or overthrow any country, let alone the US of A
I lived in the city both before and after the 2016 election. What's funny is in the actual black and brown parts of town, you very rarely see political propaganda. Other than political campaign signs on people's lawns and store windows, I remember one poster for a "Fight for 15" march, and that was it.Anyone surprised by this, BTW, should check out these posters I had to pass by daily when I lived there. Note that these are pre-2016 election day and this is in supposedly one of the highest rent areas of the city.

I haven't finished leafing through the thread yet, but I hope at some point someone pointed out that the first thing that these people did when they started the CHAZ was erect a barricade and build a wall. I really hope that irony didn't go unappreciated.
This whole thing is gonna be the subject of one of the best Internet Historian videos we're going to see in years
Exactly. The Ethiopian neighborhood east of SU and the International District, which are way poorer, were much more enjoyable to be in a lot of the time. Not only was the food phenomenal and cheap, but you were actually dealing with people living the American dream. Cap Hill morons wouldn't know what struggle actually looks like if it slapped them in the face.I lived in the city both before and after the 2016 election. The only thing residents of a gayborhood struggle with is shoving inreasingly bigger things up their assesExactly. Man building walls on their borders, wanting guns for protection from the government, when did these left wing extremists get so fucking based?Even better, first thing they did was build a wall and filter who was allowed in
