What exactly happened with the "seinor" prom? Didn't Chris ask one of his gal-pals to be his date but she declined so he ended up taking Barb as his date?

Also, on the CWCki, are those pics under the prom section on the Manchester High page from the prom, or something else?

You're implying that Chris took the initiative in asking someone out. Even in his more sociable days, "initiative" was a concept he never fully understood (see his reflections on such in "The High School Story", or his stunning critique on Alec Grevin's How to Talk to Girls).

Nobody quite knows for sure if that's the seinor [sic] prom. On one hand, it could be, and the school didn't want to go overboard on it. On the other hand, it's kind of easy to believe it wasn't, considering how well the idea fits the overall motif of failure/tragedy/hopelessness that makes up his life.

Chris had several mysterious gal-pals (Kim and Mic) that may or may not continue to associate with him. I personally believe they were accessories to a RL trolling plan that fell through, not genuine "friends".

Aside from that, the only people Chris could've associated with are local people drawn to his infamy (like the Magical Man). I think the novelty has long worn off though and none of these people kept contact with him.

Also he's pissed off a few of them, so they're no longer friends.
What, like recently? At this point I would think anyone being friends with him is equipped with eternal patience.

Uhh, well, maybe, but when talking about the various friends he's had during his life, "recently" is a relative term.

So, past few years.

Marvin,maybe you know about this.

Was his "prom" actually the prom, or was it some kind of spring formal-type dance?

If it was his prom his class was really, really cheap.

I don't know. He referred to it as his "seinor prom," so I would think that might be accurate, it's a bit more specific than just "prom." Maybe? I don't know. Beats me.

Edit: Or wait, maybe that might just be the header on the cwcki. I don't know.

Just a thought... Chris graduated in 2000. That's recent enough that the school might have announced the prom plans online, and there's a reasonable chance that somewhere that info is archived.

... hey, it's better than stalking some random member of the senior class and asking about their prom and the smelly guy in the fanny pack.

What's up with the Red Skeleton vhs on display on top of the TV? Did Chris force them to watch it? I remember my poor grandpa thought I'd like Red Skeleton and pretty much did the same thing when I was 12.

I think they're picture books. I think they used to have a lot of those, back when Pokemon was new.

I have this vague notion that they watched Goodburger.

Goodburger is what's showing on the TV here.

And Red Skelton is garbage.

^^* Their enthusiasm and joy for Chris' special day, is palpable. Chris looks like he just got away with murder, with that expression.

Social grace is one of the last things I associate with Chris. Still, he does try - from time to time - to emulate human behavior he's seen on tv or from his parents. Do you suppose Chris is at all polite or friendly to people who serve him at restaurants and stores?

Obviously not the ones he thinks are trolls... But, at restaurants where Chris hasn't overstayed his welcome, I suppose there could be some employees who offer the minimum warmth and accommodation, necessary for their job. If Chris is all about routine, maybe he has a favorite server at McDonald's who he's casually acquainted with.

That may, or may not, exactly qualify as a friendship... However, it is some kind of positive interaction with a human being, which Chris sorely needs. And, such could perhaps lead to casual friendship outside the context of a store or restaurant, if Chris could refrain from being Chris for a few minutes at a time.

I recall him almost flirting with a waitress at Golden Corral, and engaging in small talk with a Gamestop employee (even agreeing to posing for a picture), which lead me wonder this. However, I recall a lot of his other antisocial antics; I have no difficulty believing Chris could be quite obnoxious with his servers as well.

An amusing (to me) aside; 7 of my last 8 romantic flings were with servers at restaurants or clubs (most of those were sommeliers or baristas) who provided exemplary service. I really REALLY appreciate good customer service, and regularly tip around 50% ~ 100%. That might explain why I've accumulated so many friends in the service industry.

^God, I'm used to looking at panoramas of beautiful cityscapes. What a hellish vista this one is.

Chris's expression is really starting to frighten me in this picture. He's got either the dead fish stare or the creepy murderer smile in his pictures.

He also has (or had) a Red Skelton poster up on one wall of his room in one of the family pics. Chris has some kind of fixation on Red Skelton for reasons probably best left unexplored.

They just want to leave:

Wow, they were quite the bunch of lookers. I'm not surprised Chris considered them his friends, since they looked, well.. Hot.

Now, if they were fat and/or ugly, on the other hand, I bet Chris would just shove them away from him, even if they wanted to be his friend. After all, as history has proven, Chris seems to love girls based on what he sees on the outside more than what's inside.

Also.. Are those coloring books? If that's what I think it is, MAN, how awkward that must be. I really hope he only put on a smile just for the camera, and not because he really liked it. Even Chris has standards.

I wonder if the VHS tapes on the TV were what Chris picked out as choices to watch, and since presumably nobody else at that rager had parents who were ancient when the earth was young, they decided on Good Burger as the least of the evils from which they were forced to choose.
