^^* Their enthusiasm and joy for Chris' special day, is palpable. Chris looks like he just got away with murder, with that expression.
Social grace is one of the last things I associate with Chris. Still, he does try - from time to time - to emulate human behavior he's seen on tv or from his parents. Do you suppose Chris is at all polite or friendly to people who serve him at restaurants and stores?
Obviously not the ones he thinks are trolls... But, at restaurants where Chris hasn't overstayed his welcome, I suppose there could be some employees who offer the minimum warmth and accommodation, necessary for their job. If Chris is all about routine, maybe he has a favorite server at McDonald's who he's casually acquainted with.
That may, or may not, exactly qualify as a friendship... However, it is some kind of positive interaction with a human being, which Chris sorely needs. And, such could perhaps lead to casual friendship outside the context of a store or restaurant, if Chris could refrain from being Chris for a few minutes at a time.
I recall him almost flirting with a waitress at Golden Corral, and engaging in small talk with a Gamestop employee (even agreeing to posing for a picture), which lead me wonder this. However, I recall a lot of his other antisocial antics; I have no difficulty believing Chris could be quite obnoxious with his servers as well.
An amusing (to me) aside; 7 of my last 8 romantic flings were with servers at restaurants or clubs (most of those were sommeliers or baristas) who provided exemplary service. I really REALLY appreciate good customer service, and regularly tip around 50% ~ 100%. That might explain why I've accumulated so many friends in the service industry.
