The one main gripe I has is his editing is just so pretentious. He takes Chris way too seriously. Sure, he's been chronicled, but to me, Chris is not to be taken seriously, as a human being. To me, Chris is not a phenomenon, he's just another example of broken system like Tommy Tooter, and a parody of social justice and the absence of eugenics.

So I've watched the entire thing so far and, along with Null's streams where he mentions Chris off hand, this has been my only real exposure to Chris. On the whole, I've enjoyed the series but I often find myself frustrated while I'm watching the videos.

The frustrating parts are when he's just dispensing the correspondence between Chris and his trolls, and he just reads what they've said to each other word for word without any analysis or reason for me to be interested. 20 minutes later I'll be like, "Got it. Chris thinks he has a girlfriend but it's fake. I got it....I still got it..."

The most interesting parts are seeing Chris' views on things and seeing his legal problems unfold. The trolling of Chris is by far the most uninteresting part of the story, yet it seems to be the part that Geno focuses on the most (much to my chagrin).

You can argue that this is important to the story and mustn't be left out, and you may be right. By the fact remains that he's giving valuable minutes to the parts of Chris' story that are the least interesting.

The trolling of Chris is by far the most uninteresting part of the story, yet it seems to be the part that Geno focuses on the most (much to my chagrin).

I actually found those very interesting. Before i only knew of the aftermath of what trolls did, only the punchline but when analized closer with chatlogs and all the trolls, (even the cringy retards) in their baiting unveiled a lot of the shittier aspects of Chris personality, the interactions with trolls reveal just how much of a manipulative asshole Chris is.

It was all fake but it was real in Chris mind, he really thought a guy at Nintendo was going to lose his job and starve because of his complaints and he didn't care, he thought one of his fake girlfriends died and he didn't care, the same day he was sexting another troll and replaced her instantly even after making videos about how much he loved her before that. He thought he was cheating one fake girlfriend with another and tried covering it up with very manipulative excuses when trolls used it against him, he often faked tears and acted out melodramatic gestures when adresing these topics and when called out he brush it off in minutes and moved on to some other thing, like when he thought a Sonichu fan killed himself because the site was down or when he thought one of the fake girlfriends died in a bush fire or when another way said she was gonna commit sudoku because Chris cheated on her, he has often mistaken his ironical fans with unironical fans and yet he is constantly an asshole to them and a complete ungrateful jerk when he receives fanart for example. No matter how bad trolls present the situation to be Chris is just like "meh, now i am going to play some more animal crossing and sext this other troll"

Chris is a really shitty person, a compulsive liar and an egotist, the interaction with the trolls really brought all of his worst traits to the fore and made it transparent and thats pretty much the reason it was not worth it to feel bad about him getting trolled in the first place, his conversations with fake fans and trolls also reveal a lot about his most perverted fetishes and how deviant his true intentions were all along, still in Chris mind he was being clever and he was the one trolling and controlling other people behaviour and he loved it, he was in Cloud nine when he thought he had an all girl fan club fighting over his attention and that he had impressionable girls at the palm of his hand he could manipulate. When he lies about needed donations for food and uses the pets and his mother as bait but then he spends all the money on vidya and toys, thats classic Chris behaviour, the troll sagas really leave a crumbtrail building up to that that makes Chris look like an even more unsympathetic character than just a pitiful one.

I do not disagree with Chris being inherently selfish and spoiled, nor do I disagree with Chris trying to weasel his way out of consequences by being a fat duplicitous weasel. What I do disagree with is the reductive sentiment "Chris bad, bad chris deserve bad". Chris is, and has always been, a mentally ill man with no Behavior Support Plan, coddled by out of touch parents who had no clue what he really needed.

You combine that with access to the internet and the discovery of him by people who are just there to play kick the autistic, then that is obviously going to always result in Chris choosing negative actions/making bad choices. All the people trying to shield their trolling by saying they are trying to get Chris to change for the better are deluding themselves by thinking you can get someone who is mentally ill to change by treating them in the same manner you would a normal person.

I'm not saying Chris isn't gross or weird, but I don't really know that it's entirely his fault at this point.

I know it's a literal Chris quote, and I am aware of him using it as a means to try to elicit sympathy to get his own way. I'm also not disputing that a lot of his behavior is really shitty. I am also aware of autists who live better lives than Chris who have more problems, and I am aware of autists with less issues who also have the same kind of self created problems. I simply put more emphasis on the experiences that molded and enabled him to remain a spoiled and intolerable belland. I once wrangled a tard who was obese, operational defiant, psychotic, loud, and was generally a piece of shit. However, the second I met his family it all made sense as you could see that the patterns of behavior he saw as acceptable were learned from his shitty family. This doesn't make him/Chris any less of a headache to deal with, but it does make me wonder what could have been had other interventions/better socializations happened. For instance if instead of caving to whatever he wanted, his parents actually taught him how to cope with his problems/learn to be a responsible patient person.

This does not mean we don't realize there are other factors at work in why they made those choices, and at times how they have been influenced to do the things they do. I do not entirely disagree with you. In fact I agree that Chris has had all these opportunities to make connections in real life that he has squandered, and I would hazard to guess that is because he is largely stuck in the general socialization aspect of parallel play. Chris may go out and do things with other people nearby that share his interests, but he rarely interacts with them unless it is somehow about him. The thing I totally agree on is how his ego is the thing that holds him back the most. Not every Christian experience can be the Pickle Man at the Mall, or Bob cutting the internet down.

Geno as a Christorian I can appreciate. I can watch his videos and enjoy them. Geno as the Japanese busker with the guitar and album covers I have no interest in watching. If he's using Chris as a stepping stone, he wouldn't be the first.

Whilst there are definitely slumps in the series, I think the main thing is to show Chris's mindset as the episodes progress. Even if it's an episode long phone call, I put enough trust in geno to presume he knows what he's doing. After all, he has to sift through all this shit

Fair enough but I wish Geno made those narrative threads more clear when it involves trolling. I guess that's my real complaint. I feel like this documentary is very well structured and beautiful, but I find the segments about trolls to be more unstructured and too chaotic.
