Chris-Chan Sighting at Gamestop (With Video)

Some people have discussed the issue of Chris having a public defender and how he might not qualify for one. He could still try legal aid (does UVA have a law school? Usually or try and get a lawyer to do it pro bono work for them. My understanding is most state bars suggest that practicing attorneys do a certain number of pro bono work, but I'm not sure if a mentally deficient manchild macing a store clerk for asking him to stop defacing a sign for a video game would be done pro bono. I get that technically Chris owns a house and a car, but he's also receiving government aid and I pretty sure on top of the "tugboat" he gets food stamps and Medicare.

Someone else has probably said this but the US does do things differently than in the UK, though we do have the same common law tradition. Again, this is from my INTERNET LAWYER experience but it's extremely difficult to pull off an insanity plea and there's a high criteria that needs to be met. I don't think Chris spazzing out over a Sonic Boom would meet that criteria. I've heard some jurisdictions have a verdict of "guilty but mentally ill" where you're still found guilty but the fact you're mentally ill is taken into account and you're sent to a psych hospital.

I've mentioned this before but I think he got the whole "sensory overload" idea from that Temple Grandin talk he went to. It's sad that she probably talked about how she faced a lot of adversity due to her autism but she managed to use her autism to become a brilliant academic in her field, when all Chris seemed to get from it was "sensory overload" is a thing and he seems to think it's an excuse for vandalizing private property. I know quite a few people on the autism spectrum and for them, sensory overload just means that they're being overwhelmed and might need to go somewhere quiet for a bit or do something soothing. Chris seems to think that suffering from sensory overload means going into a rage and going apeshit on people.

Someone else mentioned that he's going to try and claim discrimination on the basis of being transgendered. I had a feeling that when he was asking people from HRC for help, he was playing the transgendered thing to get their help. Obviously I don't see this playing out at all in court but I could see Chris expecting that because he's transgendered, that means if someone does something mean to him, it's automatically discrimination.
UVA is one of the better law schools (from what I've heard) and legal aid is a route he could take. Good point.

I get that technically Chris owns a house and a car...

Unless you know something I don't, specifically the house (I would have thought it was Barb's not both of them), Chris doesn't own any property.

Chris doesn't 'own' the car in the way he owns Lego. The bank that has a lien on it is closer to 'owning' it. Chris, for instance, can't transfer ownership of that car without first satisfying the lien. And considering a car a is a depreciating asset, there's a chance that the actual value at auction of the car is less than what he currently owes.

I'm no lawyer, but after the Hinckley case, getting an insanity plea is very difficult, and if so, Chris will spend years at a mental institution.

Doing something illegal for a stupid reason is NOT an excuse.

Why was Chris banging on a MALE's car out in the parking lot? Please tell me the dipshit wasn't actually trying to play Grand Theft Auto carjacking for reals and was trying to make his getaway in a car that the cops won't recognize. Remember how he thought he was so clever getting out of the mall the last time in a car that wasn't SONICHU?
I think he tried to ask him for help to escape, maybe in his mind he belived that the man would help him because he is a cute girl that was protesting aganist a big injustice

1 hour 4 minutes into police radio and I didn't catch anything about the window thing.

Initial listening to the police scanner: It sounds like the entire stream has been compressed using somebody's old bong and recorded on the elastic band from Chris's briefs. I can hear "Fashion Square Mall" and a couple other key words making it clear there was a response to a location at the mall at that time. There are many things on this recording that I cannot hear or understand with sufficient confidence to transcribe, so please understand that what I'm stating here is conservative and not meant to contradict any other claims of what was said on the police scanner.

Some highlights:
  • (38.000 sec.) I'm at the location <garbled> Described as a white male, five-foot-nine with long brown hair, <garbled> wearing two sets of glasses and fake breasts. His name is supposed to be Christopher Chandler.
  • (95.000 sec.)<garbled> You can disregard the call at the mall <garbled/squelched>
  • (212.630 sec.)<garbled> here at the mall, <garbled> one time he had <garbled> banned from the mall.
  • (619.750 sec.)<garbled> thinkin' that, uh, Chris Chandler, white male <garbled> long, brown hair <garbled> right now <garbled>
  • (645.369 sec.)He's a white male wearing a pink miniskirt... No... <break> <garbled> skirt and two pairs of glasses.
  • (1027.185 sec.)<garbled> in the mall <garbled> the suspect <garbled>
  • (1069.750 sec.)<garbled> I checked the immediate area and <garbled> wasn't <garbled> there... damage or anything <garbled> two-ninety-dash-one <garbled> type damage. (This one might not be related to Chris.)
  • (1220.000 sec.)<garbled> the suspect, <garbled> he's still in the mall, uh, he <garbled>
  • (1385.000 sec.)<garbled> hold off for a second <garbled> stay loose in the parking lot, <garbled> somewhere in the mall <garbled> check the bus stop.
  • (1506.610 sec.)<garbled> mall security's gonna spread out, they know who he is, uh they are gonna tell the mobile unit <squelched> try to make a run for it.
  • (1521.000 sec.)We're <garbled> the mall <garbled>
  • (1567.020 sec.)Prolly lost the <garbled> from, uh, Sears, <garbled> J.C. Penney <garbled> check their floor <garbled/squelched> give 'em the description <garbled> the, uh, male, five-nine wearin' a skirt <garbled>
  • (~1642 sec.) There's a discussion between a man and a woman on the channel about mall security's phone numbers (:alog:, they don't give any numbers out) which I can't quite make out (I think dealing with whether the anchor stores have separate security numbers), including a discussion about camera access (that, again, I can't quite make out).
  • (1674.000 sec.)That number <garbled> I called was actually his mother. She said he was driving a blue Ford Focus but she didn't have the tag. And she didn't have a phone number for him.
  • (1692.030 sec.)Yeah, I <garbled> the first time I called that number like he really just <garbled> that prolly wasn't that <garbled> try to call her.
  • (1767.060 sec.)<squelched> Uh we have like, <garbled> phone call from <garbled> the suspect <garbled> <garbled, sounds like "writing" or "riding"> columns. He was calling regarding the card that he left on his door. I'm assuming that means he's at that location <garbled> another unit.
  • (1862.840 sec.)<garbled> blue Ford Focus <garbled>
  • (~1999 sec.) There was a request for a registration check on a plate. The registration check did not come back to Chris, so I'm not bothering transcribing the portion.
  • (2382.000 sec.)I will be out with the, uh, <garbled> subject for the <garbled>, um, at the J.C. Penney parking lot at the mall.
  • (2472.670 sec.)Do you have the, uh, license number on <garbled>? <break> <different person responding> Negative, she... she didn't know it, and I... can't find anything on it.
  • (~2767 sec.) There's a note of one male in custody. Based on subsequent radio traffic, I do not believe this could have been Chris.
  • (2961.540 sec.)What's the, uh, mom's name... for the registration? <different person responding> Barbara.
  • (3681.988 sec.)I'm over here by <unintelligible> in the mall parking lot. Can you <garbled> here please?
  • (3877.369 sec.)I just got word from mall security. <garbled> he went into Sears, caused issues, and he left out the front door about thirty minutes ago. <garbled> left by now.
The remaining transmissions are fairly short and deal almost entirely with generic dispatch traffic. I could not conclusively determine whether anything in the remaining 2200-odd seconds dealt with Chris.

Based on everything I've heard in this, I would ask those with knowledge of the Chandlers' current situation whether we have a prior confirmation that Chris now drives a blue Focus. If not... I think we should take the report that he was driving one with a grain of salt.

There are a number of phone numbers and license numbers mentioned in the recording, but as far as I can tell none are definitively identified as belonging to the Chandlers or otherwise associated with the incident.

EDIT: As others have reported, I heard nothing dealing with Chris and annoying someone in the parking lot. The only parking lot mentions have to do with searching the mall area for Chris and covering all the various places he could be if he were still in the mall area.

Hey please stop reporting every single post that you don't like. This is getting a bit ridiculous.

Writing an autistic post isn't against the rules nor is it something we enforce because it's subjective and ultimately not a big deal unless it breaks other rules in the process. If you don't like someone's post and you think it's autistic, rate them dumb and move on. It is not the staff's job to personally remove everything you don't like. Getting universal ridicule is a far more effective punishment than getting your post deleted.

So I have no idea what is going to go down legally. My pulled it out of my asss guess he will mostly end up with counselling or community service. But I would suggest that those of you who are pouring over Virginia law and saying "oh look, he violated this statute, he must be going to jail" are probably barking up the wrong tree. That is not usually the best way of understanding the justice system unless you are trying to answer questions like "What is the worst case scenario?" or "What could prosecutors threaten him with in order to convince him to plead guilty to lesser charges"

If he pleads out, there's a good chance he'll get a suspended sentence or community service. There's a good chance no one would want to take this to trial, the amount of time and energy would be more than the prosecutor wants to deal with. On the other hand it's going to get harder and harder to get a judge to be lenient, with his priors.

I'd say speculation is pointless but speculation is all we've got until we get some word from somebody on the inside or until he posts something.

Chris is likely to end up in the psych ward (or at least he would in the EU, not sure about the US).
Some months away from Barb and da hoard and the media could fix him up a bit.
Furthermore, doctors could finally monitor his health.

Or I am overestimating the national prison system and he will simply become Bubba's bitch.
I pity Bubba.

Chris wouldn't be locked in with the other inmates - the other inmates would be locked in with Chris. ;)

I feel sorry for that capitalist employee who got sprayed. Pepper spray not only burns like hell but I heard washing the stink from pepper spray out of your clothes is hard to do (I heard anyway from people who had it happen). That poor guy might have had to spend money to replace his uniform.

He still wears fake breasts under his jacket... I always thought cops heard stranger things than some white dude wearing a pink miniskirt and fake breasts and wearing two sets of glasses.

It's more likely he'll become Bubba's bitch's bitch.

He'd be going to jail, not Federal-Pound-Me-In-The-Ass-Prison. He isn't going to be anyone's bitch. He's not THAT hardcore yet.

However, he will be forced to shower with a bunch of those danged males and look at bare chests and....ugh dicks. Which may be worse for him than actual rape.

And sperging out in the shower about pecs and wangs may get him a serious ass-whupping.

Insanity plea is not going to happen. I'm honestly surprised there's any discussion of this beyond someone thinking Chris might frivolously claim he was not in control of himself when he assaulted the employee. From a practical standpoint, even pleading an insanity defense is unbelievably rare. That Chris has some mental illness does not give him the fabled "shooting license" mentioned in All Quiet on the Western Front, and no competent lawyer will plead it. In fact, there's some argument that the defense is sorely underused. In any case, I think people should stop talking about the insanity defense. It's interesting from a Hollywood standpoint, but (respectfully) we're all wasting our time by doing anything more than acknowledging that someone might try it.

More interesting is whether Chris is competent to represent himself. If not, he will have counsel appointed, likely pro bono. I'm not going to get into the nuts and bolts of when someone qualifies for free counsel because, frankly, it can be pretty complex and I don't know all the details. All that said, Chris almost certainly would qualify for some form of legal aid as someone with a mental illness.

Chris & Barb got a Grand Jury indictment just for tapping a Joo with their front bumper. I think 1. Trespassing 2. Assaulting a store employee 3. Causing a disturbance at several locations throughout the mall and 4. possible carjacking isn't going to look like Chris' Autism Card is going to get him out of trouble this time.

I don't know everything about Chris's lawyer. I haven't read every page on the whole CWCki. My point is he has a high up position now and probably doesn't care to give Chris free lawyer service (when not being in the same congregation anymore) and doesn't want to be associated with a multiple offender. Who cares about mincing Bell's position and calling people retards for it?
He never gave Chris and Barb a free lawyer service. He cost them in the region of $50k. If they had another $50k he'd probably be driving to the rental house as we speak. They don't so he isn't.

I mean, this is gonna sound... harsh and off topic and probably really liberal... but if you ever go down the 'capital punishment' rabbit hole, as a society we've executed people with far worse grasps on reality than Chris. There was a prisoner on death row who as part of his last meal had a slice of pecan pie. He didn't eat it, when the guard mentioned it, the prisoner said he was saving it for later. And he wasn't being clever or snarky, he just didn't understand there'd be no later. He'd cease to exist. He did not understand the concept of 'dead'. And, yeah, he was put to death. So while he committed a heinous crime to be sentenced to death, one can feel uneasy about it.

Again, as a society, we determined that he is competent enough to receive the full measure of the law.

So any implication that Chris, with his college degree, lacks the mental faculties to be punished - and not capital punishment, but just imprisonment - really shows a lack of understanding of what our legal system considerings 'competent'.

Given Barbs controlling nature and history of covering for Chris I find it highly unlikely that she doesn't have his phone number.

Chris & Barb got a Grand Jury indictment just for tapping a Joo with their front bumper.
Wasn't that because of them fleeing the scene(Fail stop accident) and Barb assaulting a police officer? Hitting Snyder was a reason yes, but both of the Fail Stop accident and assaulting a police officer were felonies.

Going to be honest, and a bit of a stick in the mud here, but we have no idea what the future holds. Chris has an uncanny knack for getting out of all kinds of trouble; the CWCki Forums were all swearing black and blue he was going to get the electric chair for Synder, but he got off fairly lightly.

Of course, every time he pulls a stunt like this, his chances get worse. It's a roll of the dice and Chris's autism and unholy luck give him an edge, but snake-eyes can happen to anyone... if he gets out of this without a felony jail term, eventually, inevitably, Chris will stumble again and he'll have to roll again.

So on until he finally gets locked up or dies.
