If Chris has been deemed competent enough to drive a 2,000 plus pound vehicle, then he should also be competent enough to understand that what he did at the GameStop was wrong. The issuance of a drivers license implies that the holder is capable of making sound and reasonable judgements and acting accordingly in a safe and reasonable manner.

If Chris somehow skates on this due to his playing the 'tism card, then he should probably lose his driving privileges as well (otherwise, the whole incompetence argument really doesn't hold water).

On police radio at 27:57 "called his mother. She says he's driving a blue Ford Focus, but didn't know the tag and she didn't have a phone number for him"

At 31:00 "check the Gamestop over at ?Harleys?... Ford Focus"
At 33:33 they call in his plate number?
39:49 "suspect at JCPenny parking lot at the mall"

Sorry I was still under the impression his probation already expired.. damn, I cant imagine how he is going to survive without getting shanked, if he gets out of this one i bet he is going to be a new man after this ...

What really is so annoying is what Chris says when leaving the store. He doesn't say "I'm leaving, so please don't call anyone.". He bellows out an ORDER and commands "DON'T! CALL! ANYBODY!", as if he's Master of the Earth and we're all nothing but his lowly subjects who must obey. That's the sort of severe arrogance coupled with his willingness to spray chemicals at people without provocation which became a dangerous mental cocktail that finally got him in trouble.

Side note for anyone who normally listens to police scanners for work or pleasure... how the hell do you make out ANYTHING these people are saying? Is it an acquire skilled?

Just sounds like prisencoli to me.

Kind of. The trick is to recognize voices, so (for example) the gruff voiced dude is the lieutenant on scene, the lady is the dispatcher, etc. Tune out who you don't need to be listening to.

Rob Bell a member of the Virginia House of Delegates and has been since 2002. He was when he represented the Chandlers the first time. He's not a Congressman and never has been. He still has his private law practice in Charlottesville.

It would have taken you five seconds to look this up.

Now everybody can go ahead and discuss how members of a state legislature are similar to/different from a parliamentarian in Hungary or whatever's going on here.

I don't think the insanity defense can be invoked for every crime in the US, but I'm fairly certain it's allowed for cases of assault, which would cover Chris's macing of the employee. The problem for Chris is, as mentioned up-thread, it's very hard to pull off successfully; at the very least you have to convince the judge that not only are you stark raving mad, but you're literally incapable of telling the difference between what is right and what is wrong. They made the defense far harder to use - and some states just got rid of it altogether - after John Hinckley successfully used it after his attempt to kill Reagan.

The other way of pulling the insanity defense is to convince the judge that the defendant is unable to stand trial, but if anything that'd be even harder to pull off since Chris has stood trial before.

OMFG! Really Chris? Only he could make simple trespassing get out of control. if the employee actually follows through with the charges I don't see how he will avoid jail time given he had priors. yet again he proves to the world he is his own worst enemy. I could see him possibly getting institutionalized as it has been made abundantly clear Snorlax is not fit to be his caretaker as she would just treat it as if he was the victim and blame the employees as usual.
