Damn really? I always just assumed that Bob and Barb owned the house outright so Chris would only need to pay tax and utilities. His tugboat grew when Bob died so will it grow again when Barb dies? I thought he'd manage to eek out an unglamorous life in that house on his own, didn't realise he's going to have to move out. As if his world wasn't already going to be turned upside down when Barb kicks the bucket.

It's a common assumption. The public info on the state of their mortgage is pretty much non-existent so there's not really much I can show you. The most I can say is that I wouldn't assume they don't have a mortgage (which is in contrast to what most people would expect, of course).
I don't know all the details, but I think his tugboat might go up when Barb dies. Oh, and yeah, Chris is definitely fucked when Barb dies.
If Chris is alive in 20 years I will be shocked. If he cannot get his life back together after Barb dies then I think he will end up either homeless, in a mental hospital, group home, or jail. I am doubting Chris could take care of a house himself and if he is smart he will sell the house and move into a studio apartment and get a part time job. Since Chris has made bad decisions in the past I doubt he will have a bright future.
I wonder if Chris would be capable of selling the house once Barb dies? He really is going to have to downsize a lot if he wants to be able to live a decent life post Barb. Still though knowing Chris's maturity level he will most likely screw it all up. Does Chris even pay bills currently or does Barb do that too?

Well, I think that since Bob set up the precedent for Chris paying rent, plus Barb not being shy about that sort of thing, I think Barb collects what she needs from Chris and leaves him with the rest of the tugboat to do as he pleases. Although, she (or her plus his own bills, like his credit card bills) probably doesn't leave him with more than $10 a few days into each month. Like really, Chris is almost certainly very broke every month soon after getting each tugboat.
Hell, that's probably the source of his "I'm so poor " bitching posts. He's probably bitching that he can't splurge like he used to back in the day, like he feels entitled to.
Obviously in 20 years he'll be living in a group home adjusting to society. Full of energy and positivity, he'll continue to lose weight and exercise while he is dating his sweetheart. As he completes his therapy, he looks forward to the big promotion at his office job.
In 20 years Chris will be in his 50s. Unless his lifestyle drastically changes he'll either be in very poor health, or deceased. Yeah, Bob was old and Barb is old, but they haven't always had this horrible lifestyle. Chris started it early so I don't see him going beyond his 50s. If he's still alive and kicking he'll be in a group home as he retreats into his CWCville in his mind. Constantly dwelling on problems from his past. By the way.. has there ever been any documentation or mention of Chris having a physical since high school?
