I wonder if the sudden apologies and begging for forgiveness is because Paradox issued some sort of ultimatum that if they didn't get their shit together they'd yank the contracts and leave CO for dead.
Shades of SOTS 2 once more. Paradox does seem to work with exceptional dev studios who overpromise and underdeliver. CO's rep will likely be what Kerberos is after this: in the dump and untouchable.

Funny you say that since this is the first community post signed not only by Mariina, but also a Paradox exec.

How much money do console peasants even bring them to justify them continuing to waste all this effort on the console ports to the detriment of the core game considering the fact a vast majority the hardcore autists and paypigs are on PC

Console is huge if you have name recognition, so I daresay it could double their money or more, especially when you use discounts well.

I can't imagine playing this type of came with a fucking controller, but people are weird.

Can't speak for the PlayStation versions but the Switch version was massively gimped, with only After Dark and Snowfall pre-installed and no other DLC (officially, Paradox blamed "hardware limitations", yeah, no shit). The other console versions got all of the DLC but of course no mods...which is dumb since the game is barely playable without them and even the diehard supporters wouldn't dare playing it vanilla.

I don't get it myself, but people play Minecraft on consoles (to the tune of millions of sales) so obviously people are weird.

The vast majority of people play for awhile and then go do something else with their life, I guess.

Minecraft was at least designed (well, the 2009 alpha anyway, which is peak Minecraft as far as I'm concerned) to run on lower-end systems, and the system is adaptable enough to run on consoles.

In comparison, city sims have never been a big fit for consoles despite numerous porting attempts over the years. I guess SimCity for the SNES is a notable counter-example, but a lot of work was put into that with adding new music, graphics, and "Nintendo"-ifying it...and even then it feels a bit awkward without a mouse.

Since CO staff are still in the break room contemplating a spoon, the modding community has set up their own asset importer, so we're actually starting to get some cobbled together asset packs for the game. There's a lot that's fucky with it but it's 100% better than the 1st party solution since it actually exists for the players. The game is starting to resemble what it should have been on launch day. Yipee(?)

So, how long will it be until CO breaks it for "fuck you, here's our solution" reasons?

Per the April 18 update from CO, their goal is to have it implemented in a patch before summer. Who's summer that is they left up in the air, but for normal people it means they have a little under 2 months. Considering this has allegedly been worked on for at least 6 months already, I'd say they'll have our game breaking importer soon. And of course it'll be a beta so they'll be replacing one temporary solution with another.

Notice how they didn't actually SHOW any of the NPCs in-game and how they actually looked.

Yep, dysgenic like Starfield no name NPCs

Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic has its 1.0 release coming soon. Highly recommended if you want an autistically in-depth city/nation builder. You can manage everything from import/export to road signs and snowplows.

Nice look too if you are into stuff from that era. One day I will learn train signals.

I've always been torn on W&R:SR. There was a lot of stuff that should've been integrated into Cities Skylines 2 or whatever de facto city simulator that exists, and I like that. Plus, it handles the SimCity problem of built-in socialism (healthcare, etc.) quite easily. It is Communist Russia, there is no free enterprise.

On the other hand I prefer my city simulators to be like the places I grew up and visited, or want to visit (Soviet Russia isn't on that list). There's also the whole "resources" issue which despite being one of the most in-depth system in a video game it would go against city development (of course, this being Soviet Russia not a problem) and complicate the whole simulation.

I've had people tell me that the city development takes a backseat to making sure all your goods and services get around efficiently, when the reality is that even if your stuff is way out in the middle of nowhere (like ten miles out from the nearest town), it's pretty trivial as far as "efficiency" goes.

So apparently CO has added a new patch that unfucks the economy and people are praising it now.

This is what I hate in games, the idea that as long as they update it "eventually" all is forgiven. You already paid them an interest-free loan when you bought the game. No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 sucked at release and that shouldn't be forgotten even when they try to "fix" some of the issues post-release. Post-release content should only be to add NEW stuff, not the stuff you PROMISED before.
