The situation in Germany gets ever sillier. In a historical first for the Federal Republic, CDU leader and chancellor candidate Friedrich "Fotzenfritz" Merz FAILED to achieve a majority in the first round of chancellor voting, achieving just 310 of a required 316 votes.
Article 63(3) of the Grundgesetz [constitution] says that the next chancellor vote must happen within 14 days. After a few hours of deliberation, the parlamentarians agreed to hold a second vote today at 3:15 PM local time, that's around 15 minutes after this post.
... I'll update this post as a liveticker while this is still brand new in Community Happenings. German local time.
15:19: All political parties in the parliament wish to hold speeches. Now a representative each gets to speak for 3 minutes, in order of faction size. Presumably, the second round of chancellor voting will happen after that.
15:31: Green Party representative asserted they will vote against Merz.
15:33: The Left representative asserted they will vote against Merz, but agree with holding the vote today. Then proceeds to agitate against AfD, because of course.
15:34: Open vote (raised hands) for whether to hold the next chancellor vote now.
All factions and members voted in favor.

Voting now as you can see. Gonna be a while until the next update.
15:59: Looks like everyone has cast their vote. Session is interrupted for 20 minutes so that ballots are counted.
16:15: 325 votes in favor of chancellor Merz.
16:16: Merz accepts the vote.
