its more like a title update. in the past all the "source" games got updated to the orange box version of source, this is the same thing. wouldnt be surprised if tf2 gets a patch porting it to source 2 in the years after. The only time a game was split because of it was hl1 which has a hl:source port, this was to keep a game there for gold source mods.

There are some major changes to systems and mechanics, but this is pretty spot on. I doubt Valve is going to throw any effort into a Source 2 port of TF2 anytime soon.

I'd argue the CS community was split between 1.6 and CSS prior to CS:GO.

well its more like if you preferred a different patch to another. i wish the negev wasnt its curret useless version where its useless until you shoot 30 bullets at which point youve already given up your position. im sure some people miss buying ammo in css. Its better to view this as a patch rather than a new game, becuase functionally thats what it is, the current version of gmod is gmod 14 or something i started at gmod7, games get updates this one just comes with new smokes, netcode and the maps got a fresh coat of paint so pretend like its a new game. As far as im concerned the dust2 rework is a more significant patch than this.
 
I like the music in the trailers, I hope they release it, even if it's just 30 seconds.

EDIT nvm, they're in the released game as a music kit.

Probably because they said the release was Summer, and we are already in Fall now. I bet you all of those things are coming after.

This is just a cached icon and background before the change. The name is different, and now you're downloading CS2, and Valve didn't even have the courtesy to leave CS:GO as a beta channel option, which is gay. They should have that option so people can play on dedicated servers and shit.

If you look at Ludwig Fat Retard Lagerstedt's video you can see that the icon and background are in fact updated, but if you haven't installed CS2 recently you'll probably still have the old branding on the game in your library.

Man, if only there was a company that worked really hard to make Windows games run flawlessly under Linux without the need of making a full port by introducing a compatibility layer that's named something like Neutron. That would've helped not only with a bad Linux port, but also with playing the entire PC library under Linux.

Why is it that whenever people jump to hating on Valve, they bring up the biggest non-arguments imaginable? Not the fact that you don't own your games on Steam, or that you cannot keep older versions of them because they force auto-update, no, let's attack them for the things they actually do right while at the same time completely ignoring reality.

I've installed and played CS:2 and the logo as well as most of the visual material in my library is still CS:GO, only the name is different (I've rebooted my PC since it came out ofc). It makes me think he has access to a different branch or something.

Mine swapped to CS2, Steam usually takes an indeterminate amount of time to change library art. The trading cards are still CSGO though.

The playerbases are filled with younger generations, in which tryharding all of the time is a real trend. The skill ceiling has definitely risen over the last ten years.

Your best bet is to try and find like-minded players you enjoy playing with and queuing with them. I haven't played solo queue matchmaking in years. I kideally play with a party of at least 3, but even just me and one friend makes matchmaking more bearable.

If toxicity is your issue, I really don't see a lot of that. Maybe I'm just thick-skinned, but then again I also have a high trust-factor.

Exactly, how many servers just got screwed over by this? Is everything directly transferrable? I doubt it.
 
Cool update, but I can't play the game thanks to shitty ghanno slash linux port they haven't tested during Beta.

New VAC doesn't let you play with Proton. Those who try to get around it get banned.

I sort of feel the same way. I can handle deathmatch fine, but I can't kill a single enemy when I try to play comp. Even a couple years ago I could reliably get kills in comp and I wasn't even that good back then either. It is what it is I guess.
