That's why it works for me, though. The ambiguity of it all is really unsettling. Plus, the music CreepsMcPasta used near the end made it that much creepier IMO.In hindsight, I didn't like Barbie.avi all that much. Its one of the few file extension Creepypastas that isn't silly to an extent. It was creepy but nothing to spine chilling.

Besides, I don't read creepypastas to get scared shitless. I just want a good, interesting story that incorporates horror.
This is also how I feel about horror films. I find it unfortunate that, whenever a piece of fiction contains remote traces of 'horror', a whole heap of expectations are laid on it. It MUST scare or have a payoff otherwise it gets deemed 'worthless'. This leads to a lot of great films/stories being called 'boring' because people don't take into account that maybe they weren't actually watching/reading horror or they don't realize the 'horror' is only a means to an end rather than the be-all-end-all.Besides, I don't read creepypastas to get scared shitless. Horror shouldn't always be about monsters, vampires and zombies.
This. Horror also doesn't have to be about the paranormal, it can be about real life things, like this one:
Sometimes even looking into the mind of someone who suffers from mental or physical diseases can be horrifying enough, yet sad all at the same time. This pasta really shows what it's like for someone with trichotillomania, considering that the auther herself suffers from this disorder, it really deserves the recognition that it's gotten!
The other creepypasta I feel really works is this one, by the same guy who wrote 'Your Secret Admirer':
This one plays with your expectations - at first you think that it's going to be a supernatural story - but by the end it completely swerves in a different direction. The ambiguity works quite well here, too, because all the loose ends are tied up and it hasn't been used as a more eloquent way of saying: 'I've run out of ideas.'.
What's your opinion on Ritualpastas?
This is why I don't like them. I can't get creeped out by having instructions given to me.I think that there are some which have just too much detail or is basically just: 'If you do this, then a horrible thing will happen to you.' can get very old VERY quickly.
I haven't seen the videos of actual experiences but I wonder why people would risk their lives doing this
That I know. But knowing that it may be legit, why risk your life for it?To see if it's real, of course.

Honestly, the only great ritual pasta is probably "The Cell Phone Game".
It's not a ritual pasta though, at least from how I understand the term. Ritualpastas are pastas that consist entirely or mainly of instructions or descriptions of a ritual - with no or nearly no actual narrative story parts. They're usually written more like manuals or how-to-guides. "The Cell Phone Game" in contrast is regular story about a ritual.
I think the ritual-pasta-genre is bad at creating a scary atmosphere in general (since the pasta will be written very objective and to the point - as manuals tend to be). Their strength would be the ability to clearly present interesting concepts and ideas without any distracting elements. It's very similar if not identical to SCP entries in that regard, where instead of a manual you get some scientific description.
Unlike with SCP I must say that I haven't seen any good ritual pastas yet.
