Creepypasta Discussion Thread

I'd hate for this thread to die prematurely but what are your opinions on long Creepypastas? Ones that take at least or over an half hour to read?

In my mind they need to be exceptionally well written to be worth reading, while a shorter one can get away with mediocre writing so long as it is paced well and has a good idea behind it

On another topic I just realized what subject is strangely untapped by creepypastas. Silent Movies.

Srsly, woulda thought with the popularity of "lost episodes" and the potential for subtle creepiness with them that there would be a billion such examples, but I could only find one on the whole internet

Which while ok, does raise the question as to why more autists havent done this as well

You know, Silent Movies would make for pretty damn good Creppypastas. Silent Movies are sequential and unexpected. You don't know what will happen next after the caption. I haven't seen Silent Movies in a very long time. I would like to write one myself.

The 'lost episodes' Creepypastas are popular because they are shows that we watch or watched that are near and dear to us. When we see a story about an unaired episode with a lot of anomalies, it creeps us out because we weren't expecting it. Its unnatural for events like that to happen because of the nature of the show.

I laugh like an idiot at some of these.

As for actual creepypasta, one that made me shit bricks is one that was already mentioned, The Rake. I read it several years ago (or a version of it I guess? The one I read didn't have anything sexual in it.), and really what got me was the thought of waking up in the middle of the night to the thing sitting at the foot of the bed.

I liked The Rake too. Funny that the setting, well part it, took place in 2003 during the Northeast Blackout. Considering I lived through that event makes it more creepier because lots of strange and creepy shit happens during blackouts and something like the Rake being possibly real just gives me chills.

Not my thing. Long ones bore me, especially if I'm listening to them. Short and sweet works best IMO.

If I'm going to read a long creepypasta, then it has to be a good one that keeps my interest.

Oh god, Creepypastas. I got into these about three or so years back, actually because I clicked on the wrong link and I got an Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy Creepypasta. Actually fairly entertaining imo, I'll link at the end of this post.

Creepypastas are either really good or really, really, really bad. It's actually funny, because one thing that Creepypastas do that you wouldn't expect them to do is be victims of "cliches" and "bandwagons." Video game creepypastas are quite evident of this issue, since a lot of them like to repeat the same old tired shit that was once edgy in a past creepypasta. Hyper-realistic blood? Check. It knows your name? Check. Lavender Town? Oh fuck they always seem to work Lavender Town in in Pokepastas. It's frustrating.

MrCreepyPasta used to be my favorite narrator, but I've actually shifted to be more of a CreepsMcPasta fan. Might just be the British accent, though. I'm a sucker for them. Creeps also does a lot of Feelspastas, which I absolutely adore.

CreepyPastaJr is another great narrator. I think he was inspired by MCP, and he collaborates with him a lot. I highly recommend him.

LitterBot is another favorite of mine, has this really interesting method of narrating with this robotic voice. Actually works really well with the type of Creepypastas he invests in. He does a lot of SCP stuff too, which I highly, highly recommend.

Small shoutout to the SCP stuff too, some of which is borderline Creepypasta. I'd actually make a separate thread for the SCP Foundation if I knew a lot more about it, but I'm more of a lurker of their stuff.

The Godzilla Creepypasta is an example of a long Creepypasta done right. Here's a link to it.

First Creepypasta I've ever watched. Courtesy of MrCreepyPasta.

The Devil Game. A great ritualpasta imo and one of my favorites from MCP.

The Abstergo Man. Written and performed by CreepsMcPasta. Another one of my favorites.

Unbranded Laptop. Performed by CreepyPastaJr. One of his old performances where he was a bit monotone, but I find this pasta enjoyable nonetheless.

New Recruit Orientation. Performed by LitterBot. Kind of a crash course into SCPs.

The SCP Foundation. Lots of great stuff here, actually. It was mentioned in the past Creepypasta thread too. Small shoutout to it.

Was it the lost episode of Ed' Edd' n Eddy? Or the May Fire Creepypasta?

I like some of CreepypastaJr's original stories. It sucks that he doesn't write as much of them nowadays. Same with MissShadowLovely too. CreepsMcPasta is okay. I don't mind accents but sometimes it just distracts the scare factor.

I never listened to LitterBot's narrations. I'll give him a listen.

EDIT: I just answered my own question when I clicked the link. Never mind

I prefer my creepypastas to be longer, though they can lose momentum if the writer isn't skilled. If you're looking for longer stories that work, I'd recommend The Sick Land. It's a long read but it's worth it, though I don't know if it technically counts as a creepypasta.

While I'm at it, I'd like to proclaim my love of No End House, The Showers, The Strangers, Quiet, and The Russian Sleep Experiment (even with the glaring errors). These are some of the few pastas that successfully unnerved me. (Not easy, by the way - this is coming from someone who has laughed her way through most horror films she's seen and regularly reads Lovecraft before bed.)

Can I also express my delight that the terrible Jeff the Killer story has been moved to the Trollpasta Wiki? Why it took the Creepypasta Wiki admins so long to chuck it, I don't know. "A thing of bleach", my ass...

This might sound a bit silly, but I'm kinda disappointed that Jeff the Killer was moved off of the Creepypasta wiki. Yes, it's not that well-written when you actually look at it, but it's just become such a mainstay of the Creepypasta community that it almost seems wrong to remove it.

But then again, if they finally decided to crack down on quality control and remove Sonic.exe (UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHH), then I suppose it would seem overly selective and biased if they didn't remove Jeff the Killer. I salute you and your legacy, Jeff, but I really hope we stop getting overly kawaii desu moe moe self-insert Mary Sue fics where people want to fuck you. That part of the legacy was creeping me out, but for all the wrong reasons.

The Russian Sleep Experiment was pretty good. The same chill factor like Polybius and MKUltra

Have you heard of Anti-Sonic.dll? It's a derivative sequel to Sonic.exe.

With the recent release of Splatoon! I can't help but wonder when we're going to see a supposedly serious 'Pasta about how the ink was blood all along zomg!

That would just open up so many parodypastas like "The White Inkling" or "The Brown Inkling".
