Cuphead - starring 30s visuals and 3 hours of jazz

It looks like something from the '30s! People were racist in the '30s! Therefore, it's racist even if it doesn't have anything racist in it!

How are people this fucking stupid even able to keep their heart beating with their pea-sized brains?
what's worse is that white people are racist, and this guy is white... HE MUST BE RACIST!

I'm not gonna lie, the games journalist being shit at the game was funny for the moment it happened and all the jokes afterwards were unfunny and it feels like they're beating a dead horse now.
No doubt. The jokes are more or less internet memes and like memes, they can end up being unfunny dead horses once they get overblown. Then again, seeing people also get salty at them can be funny, especially if one still laughs at Dean playing badly (without the meme shit) and someone thinks that must mean "muh goobergate" autism.

One would ask why one really has to even find it problematic. Yeah, there was racist shit in the 1930's except while Cuphead did take inspiration from old cartoons, it's not throwing in black minstrel caricatures as something one would have to fight.

Thank goodness there, yet it's rather a shame when people act like we shouldn't even be thinking of the 1930's at all like this. Nobody has better things to do than shit on history.

Saying you can't play the game because the aesthetic reminds one of racism from the past is a poor excuse. It's like say members of NeoGaf saying they can't play a game like Hat in Time because Jon Tron has one or two lines voiced in that game. Either way, they're missing out.

Finished this game yesterday with my younger brother. Will finish it tomorrow with my mid brother. Pretty solid game, it's certainly more "cerebral" than older arcade games, everything is telegraphed and predictable but it's the mix of multiple attack patterns that fucks you up. You really feel the escalation, like the first farm boss, the potato shoots horizontal, the onion shoots vertically and the carrot has a tracking beam + homing projectiles. The world later bosses do the same thing but all at once.

There is some bullshit with the parallax in certain fights tho. I don't like how a few places will obstruct your character but it's manageable for the most part but the skeleton horse boss from the Casino is absurd, you need to keep track of the jocks and dodge the caped one but your screen is randomly covered black by trees, it's the only fight that made me legit salty.

I didn't think the game was that hard tho. You're going to die a few times, this is fine, the game is short and boss fights last 2 minutes, just don't get mad and die until you learn. I don't like how the game is getting so many cringy fans that only talk about it's difficulty and how "super hard" it is, it's a disservice to Cuphead.

I wish you could use a better platform than Twitter to spread your whining, because doing this makes you seem even more attention hungry than before.
One could of used Twitlonger for that tism.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is related to PewDiePie making a video related to the Kotaku writer who wrote how Cuphead was frustrating and not fun.

I didn't have to look hard. Or long.

Berkeley California – Judy Harper, a civil rights professor at Arroyo State University took to Twitter to blast gamers who recently picked up a copy of the video game Cuphead for the Xbox One stating that they’ve committed a “hate crime” by purchasing the game:

Cuphead is an abomination to people of color. Cuphead is white, so is Mugman, and they bet their souls to a BLACK DEVIL. Purchasing this game is a hate crime. Playing the game is the equivalent of genocide.

Porcelain is a symbol of white supremacy, don'cha know!
Also, Judy's being a silly bitch. The devil is covered heat-to-toe in black FUR, for all we know his skin is chalk white. By beard is also blackish brown, do I get a POC card?

This is why I feel like cartoons are meaningless to these people when everything can be seen as representational whether intentional or not.

I wonder... If I draw a comic with a black character in it and forget to color it, am I committing whitewashing?
And that's the current problem it seems. The Black and White era had those limitations for a reason, even in print.

Thinking back to earlier, most furred mammals, black or not, relatively have skin that is pink/peach by nature.

My bro and I are playing the game via co op and, despite it completely kicking our asses, we've really been enjoying it. My brother's a pretty big fan of classic animation so he especially loves it.

Right now we're in the second world. Apparently the actual hard bosses are yet to come if what I've read from a couple of threads here is correct.

EDIT: Also, for those who also enjoy Shin Megami Tensei, I found this:

I'm going to need context for that. And why does it have to be Nocturne?

Man, college degrees really don’t mean jack-shit these days, do they?
