Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

The reason all this 'controversy' over Cyberpunk popped up is because its extraordinarily popular. These people have been hurting for revenue for years. They need this to try and stay alive. Though honestly I think RPS is going to get really fucked from this. They were on the edge to begin with, but now they're completely fucked. I've seen articles going after fucking Yong Yea saying he is a white supremacist, progressives all but calling Mike Pondsmith a nigger.

My hope is that CD Projekt realizes this is for the fans, not for these people. Nobody cares about these people. RPS is growing more and more irrelevant by the day. Also YouTube is moving towards the absolute censorship stage. Its getting really fucking crazy now.
What's RPS?

Oh it's some shitty games blog.

Rock Paper Shotgun once again they are literally braindead.

White SJWs are fucking going after a black man for racism. The absolute state of RPS. Isn't this what the KKK did?
Hm, who is more racist, the black man saying this thing about his culture isn't actually racist or the white man saying "nah you're racist"

Not that shocking, with how weird the combat was in Witcher 1 with you needing to change stances or how janky it looked in Witcher 2. It kinda gives an impression they didn't have any teams for this sort of thing.
I've heard stories about that Witcher 1 jank. Fans of the series have actually warned me away from the first one. I keep trying to get into Witcher 2, but always drift away from it early on to play something else, which is annoying because I like the game a lot, even if using all the spells effectively in a fight is a pain in the ass.

Well ya know, white progressive people know better, so all the minorities better listen to them and never ask questions. Dont worry people of color, your white saviors will decide for you!

Yeah the jank in Witcher 1 was a bitch, when it came to Witcher 2 I mostly made it to the 2nd chapter before not being able to play anymore, mostly because navigaiting with that map was a pain in the ass but also because conatantly needibg to run around farming ingriedients for potions/oils really put my balls in a salad twister.

I've been thinking more about the trans ad and how the devs are going to allow you to mix and match everything in the character creator including the voice, so you can basically make a trans character and I just realized I'm completely ok with this. I usually get annoyed because when some lgtbq character gets announced, it's some asshole fishing for woke points. With CDProjektRed it seems more genuine to me. I dunno maybe I'm being blinded by my Cyberpunk hype but I don't get the sense that these guys are just trying to huff their own farts when they do this.

Dammit, you just reminded me of how hard of a time I had finding this one ghost even though I was sitting right on the marker, pissed me off. ..I think that was around the point I stopped playing too, hm. The ingredients farming part didn't really bother me because I horde everything anyway. Fuck it, gonna sit down and force myself to run through it exclusively. It's the only way I'm gonna get through that big ass game without getting distracted by some other game.

it doesn't, but i felt that was an issue of the narrative just being very front loaded, i felt kind of spoiled by the time i found Ciri and after you find her there's really nothing that equals the first half in terms of quests at least, after you find Ciri and do the battle at Kaer Morhen the objective is to just do some fan service quests until the next plot development turns up until eventually the Wild Hunt shows up to attack.
Maybe I'm a fanboy but I disagree with you both. I found the game to be pretty damn steady through out.

I wont lie, if theres gonna be a mod or DLC/update where you can make your character into a furry, I'll have even a better time with this game than originally expected.
Yeah, some biohacking DLC that enables all sorts of wild shit, even if it's just cosmetic and doesn't affect gameplay, would be insane. Make it so.

Agreed - adding the ability to make your character non-binary/trans/whatever feels just like one more aspect to making the chargen as robust as they can rather than catering to the tastes of people who aren't going to buy the game anyway. It feels like what you'd expect of a TTG, just modified to work for a video game. I'm still bummed that they backed off the wider choice of backgrounds your character could have (because fuck I was ready to play as a paranoid conspiracy theorist/blogger/journalist who gets drawn into something so far above their head) but I'll roll as a ne'er-do-well if I've got no other option.

I think the issue is that a huge background choice sounds good on paper, but would be somewhat hard to impliment in practice, since all backgrounds would need to be implimented in one way or another. So, kinda glad they didnt bloat it, but took ones that were from the book ans rolled with those.

Honestly, I'd somewhat blame the books, because while it doesn't follow 'em to the letter it does borrow concept from it. But, by this point even the books were falling apart, hell I'm amazed the game didn't approach that weird meta territory.
Blood and Wine got kinda weird and meta.

Witcher 1 is fun and cool. modern gamers are spoiled. You're getting warned away by "fans" that have only played the last entry in the series.

Okay, you wanna tone down the fanboyism maybe? I tried to play Witcher 1 when it came out and the game was a frickin' mess in terms of gameplay and design.
I think this is a matter of subjective taste rather than objective badness given old ass shit like Baldur's Gate has financially successful re-releases. Maybe you just don't like older style RPGs? Granted this is partially the devs fault for hopping sub-genres mid series. Someone that likes a relatively simple and easy open world ARPG is possibly not going to like the weird ass Infinity Engine but faster and with only one dude regular RPG that it started with. Or maybe not even the weird souls but without invincibility frames combat of Witcher 2.

I mean seriously, of all the complaints I ever heard about Witcher 2, having to farm ingredients? That's the first time Ive ever heard anyone mention that. You don't have to farm ingredients in Witcher 2. What are you even talking about? The Witcher series is the diet coke of jank RPGs. If you guys tried to play a real janky-but-still-good game like Morrowind or Gothic I can't even imagine the reaction.

I think it's kind of silly to look at a game that was both successful in its time and launched a very popular franchise and call someone describing it positively as "fanboying". I understand your complaints and probably agree, but @Your Weird Fetish only said it was "fun and cool" which tens of thousands of other people clearly agree with.

Dragon Age: Origins had a pretty wide selection of background choices that were all significantly different and all tied back into the main story at least once in a significant and unique way. It's true that most games don't really manage that, but on the other hand Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for, what, 6 years now? It's not like they didn't have the time if they'd wanted to do something like that.

More recently, Tyranny had an interesting character creation process that involved establishing your character's background prior to the events of the game through a choose-your-own-adventure text format, which I thought was neat.

Saint's Row has allowed you to use the male voice sets for female characters and vis-versa as far back as Saint's Row 2 (I didn't play the original so possibly even longer) and I don't recall them ever getting woke points for it. It certainly didn't detract from the rest of the game and seems like a fairly unobtrusive bone to throw out. From my anecdotal experience it mostly seems to have been used to give female characters the most gravely man voice for laughs, like Doctor Girlfriend in Venture Brothers.

You kinda need to run around to gather ingredients in Witcher 2 by either gathering 'em or buying 'em, if you were to make sure you were fully supplied on potions or oils. I know it's not insane as Morrowind (which thanks for reminding me, I need to replay that) , but holy hell it was a pain in the ass to keep in mind what stuff I had and what I don't.

Hm, you actually have a point. But I do wonder if they looked at various concepts and thought "Nobody is gonna use half of these backgrounds" or worried about players getting bitchy about so many backgrounds and not giving you proper feeling of a difference. An yeah, Tyranny def that nice concept which really changed the world as certain areas would vanish or certain factions would treat you differently.

I actually got warned away by people who played from the beginning. They just don't think it'll drag in new people. It's on sale all the time for like 2 bucks so maybe I'll play it someday, but for now I got too many games on my plate.

Who doesn't want to play a videogame where you can alienate all your friends and abandon your family in favor of chemsex ma'amlove with butt-ugly NPC's as you pursue the masturbatory fetish lifestyle sidequest shortly before committing suicide tho.

Dilation DLC when?

Nigger, this isn't trans simulator 2020. This is Cyberpunk 2077 where people intentionally rip off their limbs and if you're rich you can become super beautiful. Also American society collapsed. Nobody wants to play an ugly as fuck man pretending to be a woman, ever. Its never going to happen unless you make it, because nobody ever likes looking at fucking ugly ass people. Nobody. Even the fat black guy isn't ugly in the trailer.

And what if CD Projekt goes, "Yeah, trans in 2077 is no big deal and nobody cares." What then? I hate fucking troons so much. They're the most entitled faggots on the planet. Ugly looking men who are complete failures wanting to be super duper special and have unique privileges. Drag Queens and Traps pass 1000% more than any troon on Twitter that I've ever seen. Actual men with no hormones and no surgery pass fucking better than you do. No wonder you hate the term 'trap', because they pass and you don't. Because you're still a lazy faggot who puts no effort in.

I'd speed run the he'll out of a trans simulator.
