Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

The way I saw it game Johnny is different from tabletop Johnny because hes still bitter about how his suicide attack on Arasaka played out plus getting put on ice by them for decades. Dude fought the power, won, and it doesnt even matter. The anti-corp Rockerboy subculture he pioneered is just a paper thin plausibly deniable cover to recruit cyberpunks for corp espionage. His sacrafice meant nothing and he didnt even get to die, they kept his soul trapped in a computer and he wakes up in a world where Arasaka is going as strong as ever. He literally NUKED them and it didnt even slow them down.

I know Tabletop Johnny was a really warm empathetic person but game Johnny has been through some serious shit. His entire life was basically a failure and hes had decades to stew over it.

I just played the game -- It progressively got worse, I feel. The opening was very strong but as soon as Keanu got introduced, the story took a dive downwards. There are things I loved about it, but the whole kerry eurodyne quest was the moment I realized I did not give a shit. I don't care about some dumb rocker band and it harms the flow of the game by a lot.

I liked the nomad story, at least, but it also felt very disconnected from the main flow of the game. It's clear there was real talent in the making of this game but it got splintered and flew all over the place due to some fuckery. Remove le rocker boy in the head plotline, have something else in its place, and connect the Takemura/Afterlife/Nomad quests with something more cohesive and this story would have been excellent. Too bad it already got fucked up.

The DLC will be awful. Mark my words.

I was hoping the DLC would let us
save Jackie
, but I guess that’d fuck the story over.

It’d be nice if celeb characters were more like Patrick Stewart in Oblivion, and less like Modern Simpsons.
I fully expect them to add some kind of fed ending if you complete whatever bullshit main questline the expansion has, that's bare minimum for them. I'm more pissed off that they had a perfect opportunity to bring back Morgan Blackhand and went with some black british twat pretending to be american instead.

I don’t have high hopes for the dlc either, if it has a good story then I’ll play but looking at the recent dlc history with AAA games I doubt it. However the main game kept me interested with the story and combat (except the tranny quest, fuck you faggot), also the combat was really good since I did an Adam Smasher build.

I had to look up the tranny and I realised it was the one side mission I didn't do because driving in Cyberpunk is a shitload of fuck and there was no chance of me racing in it.

Yeah it’s literally a token character. However I did enjoy racing in MY vehicles and not the tranny truck. Other than that it was an alright quest and racing experience.

That truck is slow and can't turn for shit and the fact I can't take my expensive-as-fuck Nomad-modded muscle car into that desert race is just bullshit considering that's exactly what that sort of vehicle was designed for.

Yeah the one I bought from Dakota is a thousand Eddies better. Fuck that troon mechanic.

The character was voiced by a troon, so you would be able to tell even if they'd left off the flag.
The voice sounds feminine enough for my headphones.
Is that or i never met a troon before... nah, i prefer sticking for the idea that filler character is voiced by a female. End of the discussion. Isn't like i want to fuck it.

I like that I can easily skip him. That’s the only “representation” of mental illness I need. Don’t make me even aware it’s there, unless I’m a discord fag and want to find it.
(Feel bad for people who like racing in these kinds of games tho)

I hope they remembered the world needs things to do for the DLC. I think they get so caught up in characters, that they forget to add shit to do when we’re not interacting with them.

The character was voiced by a troon (Matthew "Maddie" Taylor), so you would be able to tell even if they'd left off the flag.
Imagine thinking some poor audio-engineer *wasn't* made to do overtime in the office just so some troons Estrogen voice wouldn't be noticeable in the game. It's called Audio mixing.

So someone told me that Mike Pondsmith has confirmed that Johnny is actually suffering from Cyber Psychosis?
This all might as well just be a complete reboot at this point, right?

Yeah, the AI formerly known as Alt, but she's not reliable either for obvious reasons.
rouge calls out some bits of him if you go for the rouge ending...
the screaming idiot, crotch in flames retard and that blonde bimbo that had to backtrack her praise after the game got trashed post release
young faggot wasn't called? fucking lol as he tries too hard to harden his voice to be some markiplier shit.
I honestly think that Arasaka can only preserve engrams but can't alter it themselves, as mentioned in the Lizzy Wizzy quest the Arasaka rep mentions that the Secure Your Soul program can only keep copies but cannot alter, if Arasaka can't do alterations to a Relic program that is available for the public I doubt they can with the Relic 2.0 prototype.
Best I can recall about stuff that could fuck up Johnny's head was if were to pass through the blackwall where his behavior could end up similar to Alt, another is when he describes his experience in Mikoshi but he felt uncertain of it.
Mike Pondsmith also elaborated even further on what might've happened:
Many of his allies and most think he overexaggerate his story and such characteristics matches the memory shown.
IMO the only way the player can know what happened during the Alt rescue and the Arasaka nuking is with Thompson's recordings.
they don't preserve souls, did they alter the texts past 1.50? even johnny says he lied about his version when you find his arm in the dump and his allies call him a compulsive liar that would make up shit as long as it puts him in the spotlight, the rest can only confirm that he nuked arasaka but no one disclosed his name, the relic is a AI prototype so it can think based on imprints of the host brain before turning it into jelly, jackie is the same shit and he tells you he's not the real jackie but a program based on his personality imprints, i am amazed to see how quickly they worked to bury jackie standing with you at the very end of the game, near the final gate with johnny and instead pushed some faggot shit of him standing in the top of misty's spouting garbled shit of his dying brain, making V realize it's not him, post 1.30...
also arasaka sells it like that because that's the whole point of arasaka, fuck up the west and make some money off them.

tabletop johnny is not the same as cdpr johnny which pondsmith was more than glad to be okay with getting rid of and cdpr johnny died once soulkiller got used on him, click play and see him saying he never felt the same even during mikoshi.

johnny only has one robo arm... one bit of chrome isn't enough to cyberpsycho you by his own established lore...

I asked the guy who told me, and I guess he got it from a youtube video.

The basic jist he gave me was that it's something that comes from a cyberpunk red story (I think) where Johnnys arm twitches out before he does stupid shit, and that Mike Pondsmith claimed that V doesn't suffer from Cyber Psychosis because Johnny acts as a shield for it since "he was already half cyber psycho anyways."

Maybe he's just taking it the wrong way, I haven't seen the youtube video explaining it myself just getting it second hand from him but it all sounds like the kind of dumb vague after the fact shit that would come out these days.

Wonder if Pondsmith is making an underhanded sneaky implication that Johnny didn't have all of his bolts tightened even BEFORE he got cyberware.

Remember, a number of lunatic revolutionaries thought of themselves as visionary idealists, too.
