Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Cyberpsychosis, realistically speaking, wouldn't be a thing 50 years after the initial culture shock period of 2020 where everyone starts cybering up for the first time. AFAIK this isn't the 2020 setting with just a year change, its the cyberpunk world moved forwards to 2077. Everyone's packing far more cybernetics than they realistically would for 2020, after all. Its a lot easier to relate to humans when you're 90% metal when your average human is 20% or 30%, after all.

Cyberpsychosis was always a gamey excuse as to why you can't just get 100% cybered up with the best gear you can get and break the game over your pinky finger. You're wrong on multiple accounts otherwise, the game is stated to be the Cyberpunk 2020 setting (with retcons for the supplements that happened after), inside the Cyberpunk 2020 setting they had cyberwear since the 90s (and the first edition takes place in 2013), and if other people having metaly bits meant it didn't get hit with cyberscyhosis so hard then you would have solved the problem by just having people only hang out with other cyborgs. Its not like it is a problem you can just wait out.

The 5-hour gameplay also had people running into cyberpsychos meaning it is totally still a thing in the game.

Ah, my bad on all of that then. I haven't been paying close attention to avoid spoilers, so all I've got are from various small vids where people have a lot more metal than you'd expect. V and their main buddy, most notably.

This game just doesn't look nearly good enough to be in first person all the time. Especially the fist fighting. I'm pretty sure I saw witcher 3 boxing animations there too.

I wonder if fear of being made fun of like Mass Effect and Fallout 4 could be another possibility for cutting content and switching to first person.

Don't know if this has been posted, but here we go.

Car and pet customization.
Cyberpunk 0, Chinese knock off 1

Not going to lie, I kind of want to play it to see how bad it would be. Maybe it would be decent. I doubt it, but it's possible.

No pet customization? Aw.

Sounds like the devs got way too ambitious. Or this stuff is going to become DLC. Hoping for the former.

Is Cyberpsychosis just another term for hitting zero essence, or is it more like the Black Shakes?

The first one. Hit zero essence equivalent and become a crazy pscyho killer. Lorewise you get less empathetic as you put more machineny parts, presumably so the game would have a high volume of chromed-up badguys while keeping the protagonist from abusing the system.

Empathy is a stat that determines how much cyberwear you can (cyber) wear, and the "humanity" costs are random. If you don't get any metal bits stuck in you you don't get cyberschorosis. There are rules for therapy that can raise your EMP back up, but its very much a "you can't do anything else while undergoing this" thing.

I dunno, I don't think the game will suck, but the most recent gameplay footage on YouTube did look pretty...meh. Barely any people walking around the city, and janky as fuck hand to hand combat. It looks really good graphically, and I have no doubt the quest variety and story will be great, but I was hoping they'd fix the issues people had with Witcher 3's gameplay. A Cyberpunk game deserves to be really fun to play. The removed features aren't a deal breaker by any means, but I hope the actual meat of the game is good.

I really hope they optimize the hell out of the game for PC. Getting fps drops in a 2080ti is worrying.

calling it now everyone's gonna be dissapointed by this glorified nu-gta

I'll raise your call and say that this game has a 50/50 shot in one of two directions....

1. Either it surprises everyone and truly is a groundbreaking revolutionary title that not only lives up to the hype but exceeds it

2. It's a repeat of the Resident Evil 3 remake where the game itself is sorta good or at least decent in and of itself but it's also a victim of its own hype and is seen as a massive disappointment

Didn't they have RTX on? That's a pretty demanding setting.
I feel like I read somewhere in one of the journalist reviews that the build they got to play had RTX disabled specifically?
Anyway, they should release some PS4 gameplay. I feel like that'd be a good benchmark for those of us with mid-range setups.

I think it's already going to be a victim of it's own hype, which seems to be par for the course for a beloved dev announcing a game years before it's ready for release.

Looking at YouTube videos and comments, I'm surprised how many people are saying Cyperpunk 2077 invented or popularized the cyberpunk genre, and that anything vaguely cyberpunk now is just a rip off.

The two Chinese games are absolutely Asylum level cash grabs, but pretending that Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, and Deus Ex were some niche media that only a dozen of the nerdiest nerds ever heard of is baffling. I don't know if they're just too young to remember when cyberpunk ruled the world, or are fanboying for CDPR so hard they made themselves look stupid and are damaging their credibility.

People got disappointed because they did not listened to the devs, every grievance was explicitly explained on streams including the fact that the game was going to be shorter than RE2 because it was the same thing that happened with the PSX version

Shadowrun returns happened too, and people quickly forgot about it, in my opinion this game is just going to be a more fleshed Deus Ex Mankind Divided just because is going to have a hub, i will just follow the olde rules of Cyberpunk roleplay, stick with the jobs that give more dosh, get big guns, then get more dosh to get bigger guns

That's cute. I have the original GURPS Cyberpunk book and Cyberpunk 2020 somewhere.

I still don't get why they did what they did to the RE3 Remake. Like I immediately realised what was happening when they released it only a year after the last game, but I don't get why they didn't take the time to fix the flaw of the original. Like imagine how good a RE3 where the city actually seemed like a city would be. And if they had Nemesis actually being a improved version of Mr. X rather than a downgrade

Probably because 3 was cash grab to finance Village, is Capcom for every 1 good thing they do a bad thing
