Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

The only legitimacy is what they give themselves, it seems.
So Anita Sarkessian became a class rather than just one person .

People that can't code, can't draw, animate or design, don't have any actual specialized knowledge that can be applied and don't even play or like videogames but they have an impact on videogames. Brave, stunning, imagine your whole job is going "umm no sweaty, thats problematic" while 300 nerds crunch for peanuts

They're political officers, or certainly want to be.

In general those awards sound extremely incestuous and indicative of a consultant class that only serves to 'advise', occasionally create reports, and pat each others on the backs on Twitter. A lot of what the nominees are being nominated for (even among those with actual careers) is extremely vague (i.e. 'building awareness'), and is perhaps an indication of this.

The only legitimacy is what they give themselves, it seems.

Just to clarify, among those that I listed as "real jobs", there were definitely some that seemed real, like being designers, directors, producers, programmers or whatever. Of course I haven't dug deeper into whether they truly deserved the job etc., which is a whole different can of worms, but they were def. not all "journalists" and shit. It's just that they didn't list any white man that even had the pretense of a real job.

They probably see themselves as that, as some form of indispensable apparatik but they will be the first ones culled if there is a market crash or a prolonged downturn in profit margins, in reality they are just grifters lucky enough to leech from priviledged and inmmature groupthink bubbles much like all the reiki instructors that mooch from rich yuppies.

No hate for people who earn their keep and are legitimately talented. I bet many actually skilled female, black, gay , whatever coders and artists are also frustated by the overpaid and underworked "consultants" with meme degrees

My thoughts so far:

I played on the hard difficulty setting. It honestly feels like the perfect one for me and I'm a little afraid to go to the Insane difficulty. While the enemies are a little bullet-spongy, they do go down quickly if you place your shots right and even the easier ones are capable of fucking your shit up if you aren't paying attention. Almost all of my deaths so far are my own fault.

There weren't any game-breaking bugs or crashes on my end. A few cases of texture pop-in and moments where the game stops me so it can load the area, but those are resolved pretty quickly. Keep in mind that I kept the game's default settings at Medium and had crowd density set to high, so I somewhat expected it.

I can't give my thoughts on the story because I got distracted at the beginning before you go to the ripperdoc for the first time (by the prompt to pay $21000). I thought it was going to be somewhat difficult and time-consuming to get, but I'm level six and have a little over $70000 by the time I've stopped for the day. The equipment and items I find are usually enough for whatever tasks I have, so I have no real need to spend my cash. There was really only one time I've bought anything and it was for the medical stuff that restores your health.

One major gripe I have is that you can't see how much ammo you have unless you press ALT to go into the weapon screen. Not so bad on its own, but it can really bite you in the ass in the heat of the moment when you think you have much more ammo than you actually have.

Edit: Nevermind, I went to the rippertech and it showed the ammo count after I got the implants.

In the Last Login gig, why the fuck do I get the cops on my ass for shooting the guy at the end? I read the mail, learned about his involvement, turned down his offer, and the guy fucking bolts. I tried killing him as soon as I told him to fuck off, before he had a chance to stand up, but nope. Somehow the police in the infamously brutal Night City are instantly aware if you commit any crimes against "civilians".

Speaking of which, the wanted system in this game is weird. The game really wants to punish you for going on a killing rampage, so much so that they can spawn JUST out of eye-sight, making it seem like they just teleported. However, if you hide inside of your apartment or another safe area (either before combat or during it, I don't remember), you'll be instantly in the clear.

The driving mechanics, at least on the car I started out with, are stiff. Although I got used to it, there were more than a few times where I accidentally ran someone over or crashed into something.

While it's definitely not the best game of all time, I've enjoyed myself more than I thought I would.

I don't hate it but holy fuck I am disappointed

also in the beginning when you're in the car and trying to shoot out those guys in the van, I killed one of the dudes and their body went all like this

remind me to never get hyped ever again
Yeah, 'disappointing' probably sums it up best. It's not an unplayable monstrosity... it's just sorta bland. It reminds me of Dragon Age: Inquisition wherein early previews for it showed off various interesting ideas and in-game story choices... then the game came out and it was incredibly stripped down, a lot of what was shown in previews now gone.

Are you one of those retards that never noticed that you can say fuck off to Roman on your phone when he calls?

This is one of the most baffling takes about GTAIV because it is factually complete bullshit, and yet it's the most popular one people shit out for why IV is bad.

Say no to Roman and hurt his feelings? No thanks.

Who ever came up with the idea that games or movies had to be realistic and depressing just like real life? The whole point of a game or movie is to do/show stuff you couldn't do in real life, to escape the oppressive restrains from reality, but nooooo, the scholars and woke video gaming professors of this world think there's profound wisdom in making entertainment suck just like real life and forcing the same restraints onto it that you would have in real life. I know I'm exaggerating but that's the direction it's going. It's the same as with Judy being a lesbian. Yeah it's realistic, it could happen in real life, but who cares. The whole point of entertainment is to enjoy yourself. A real person in real life has his own feelings and personality and preferences, so you respect them. Who cares about respecting an NPC, it's completely fictional. You wouldn't go on a shooting rampage in real life either because you obviously know the hurt it would cause and how it would destroy your life, but it's fun to do in games. The GTA games understand this at least. I wonder when they will come for metal music and force them to replace "I will cut your throat, rip out your arms, bathe in your blood ROOOOOAR" with "I will come to your house, after calling and asking for permission, politely I'll ask before I commence my mission, to talk and debate you, on the points we disagree, until we reach a conclusion, like real mature adults, at each other we don't screaaaaaaaam" in the name of realism.
It's a cyberpunk game. Not every game has to be a depressing mess but the theme of "you're just a cog in the machine, sometimes it's better to live your own life" is literally baked into the identity of the genre. It's not even that there's no good ending, it's just that you have to choose not to do some action hero bullshit (or side with the corpos, which is on par with trusting LaCroix in VTMB) to get it.

I tried playing on hard, but Journalist mode is more fun because I can actually kill an enemy in one shot.

The action hero bullshit is what I play action games for. I don't need a game to tell me "it's smarter to back off you know", real life already shows me that plenty. Why are these Rian Johnsonisms so popular these days.

So this cunt from Gamespot who is getting shit on then predictably white knighted for their disgraceful Cyberpunk review - obsession with gender, refusal to play or explore various aspects of the game - is on some virtue signal list from the Dorito Pope.
This is one of those people who purposely writes and does provocative shit so they get attacked and can pearl clutch faint onto a Victorian couch.
And I thought Cuomo getting an Emmy for his handling of Covid was bad.
The world is a fuck.

As someone who is a woman who's been playing video games all her life, these mimics are only in it to feel popular and get quick cash from coom-addicted chinless men with low self-esteem. These women were the same girls I had to deal with in middle school, the pretty and popular girls who would steal my game magazines I'd let the boys borrow during break and rip them up in front of me while telling me to "Know your place".
Now that gaming is all the rage, well, let's just say spitting on them for fucking up my hobbies isn't enough to hype this game up for me. Where's my fucking award?

Sounds like a waste of my time and money anyway since I'm too poor to afford the newest tech to play it and it seems like the developers who worked on The Witcher didn't work on this (or they scrapped what they had and started over when that group left). Shame, this is why I only play JRPGs today - too much degeneracy, progressive bullshit and disappointment in what's supposed to be a way to temporarily escape the real world.

lol at the writing in this game

Genre is slightly grimderp in that regard is what he's trying to say not that games should tell you that or that it is "smarter to back off". You can probably make something ala judge dredd where the world is still shit but you get to be an badass though, so I think he's wrong in that regard.

Then man, you probably didn't want to play a cyberpunk game. The game has a fair amount of areas where I think they missed the mark when it comes to cyberpunk ideas, but its theme of "acting like a hero who thinks he can change the world gets you fucked over" is done pretty well and pretty endemic to the genre. You can't save everyone, all you can save is yourself and your own soul.

Is this supposed to be in game propaganda? Because I'm pretty sure in the Cyberpunk lore that the USSR is a police state dystopia controlled in secret by a oil company
Yes, that's a shard, which are written in-universe.
