Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Some good RPG stuff I noticed:
I called Jackie after he died and his body went missing just to see what would happen. To my surprise I got an answering machine and V got some dialogue telling him how things are going and promising to find him. It was a good bit of dialogue and nice touch given there isn't anything indicating this will do anything.

On a quest there is a moment where a dude is holding a hostage with a gun to his head. During the quicktime dialogue thing you can just shoot the hostage taker instead of trying to talk him down. I wasn't sure it would work when I pulled the trigger, its great to have that option.

Bad RPG stuff I noticed:
Remember when I said there is literally no difference between lethal and non-lethal combat? NPCs don't notice it either. If I non-lethally shoot a guy and it isn't specifically a non-lethal mission everyone acts like I killed them. It makes all the non-lethal stuff feel even more tacked on.
Can attest to the bad RPG stuff, I take down one npc in a quest where you gotta find some snuff film by punching him until he fell down. First punch thrown and his son just goes "PAPA!!!" even though his sick fuck of a dad was standing just fine and once the final punch is thrown, he ends up getting a pool of blood. I can guess CD Projekt expected players to kill him or his son though since both were sick fucks but honestly, I'd wish there were more options to it like V calling the fixer of the quest to send over some cops or goons to help "escort" a couple of creeps making VR child killing videos or even interrogating the man or his son to know who their producer is so you don't just leave with a tape of a man's child getting killed. Another bad RPG I can think of for the game was the quest "Automatic Love." If you wanna progress, you can only get inside the building by paying 500 credits and speaking with the "Doll" the player is matched with. Can't do anything else without asking that "Doll" for info. And then when you go through a boss fight with the owner, knocking him out just has Johnny say "nice going, you just killed your only lead." Same happened with one cyberpsycho boss I fought using pure fist. I beat her up and yet when I speak to a wounded npc from the nearby room, V tells her "sorry, I ended up killing her" despite fighting a cyborg hooker with arm blades using nothing but his fist against her. I can get enjoyment from this game despite all the bugs I hear about but as far as RPG goes, they don't give much choices beyond railroading.

You can kill the BD tape perverts? I shot both of them in the head and five cops instantly spawned and iced me because apparently killing the pedophile serial killers was a crime. That might have been a glitch though, it's honestly hard to tell with this game.

Well, I found out something that pissed me off.

I did sidequests out the ass, ranked up my skills, ranked up my street rep, got to level 20.

Go to meet the Jap corp-solo to plan on getting at the floats, I go to check my inventory to make sure my right gear is loaded up and...

I'm 5th level. None of my weapons or armor is equipable, I'm not sure if my skills are working, and half my chrome is greyed out.

Not happy.

There's never been a single Xbox where I haven't had to replace at least one controller. Both of my duke controllers had something go wrong, and a Controller S and a wired 360 controller just one day stopped working altogether. Like maybe they got power surged or something, I don't know. And even my newest Xbone controller has some stick drift. I have just one working controller for my original Xbox, and one for my 360. That's it, and who knows if they haven't spontaneously combusted while in their drawers.
I've had 3 xbox one controllers were the headphone port completely stopped working, they're pieces of shit.

I've heard this said about so many dev's and it never lasts. Gamers, especially scorned gamers, have the memory of fucking goldfish.

It's not about memory but lack of intelligence. You get burned once you realize you shouldn't stick your hand into heated materials, but these retards keep touching things saying "this is not a stove, it's a radiator, radiators are waaaaaay different to stoves". They'll keep simping for the new saviour of videgems instead of learning and never preordering or trusting a product until it's been released and seen so they don't get cheated again with false promises. There's also a big reticence to recognize they bought garbage, there's some sort of defensiveness to them Idk if it's because they're embarrassed about being tricked or what but whenever a game doesn't deliver and they fell for it they get so zealous about defending it that is almost weird. I never had that issue so I really don't get what they're thinking but it is recurrent so that'll keep going on and ensuring they get white knights over and over.

Probably not. There's this one side mission where you discover a Ripperdoc working with some Scavs and he offers you a discount to keep quiet. I picked the "fuck you" option then chose to shoot him in the head for fun. Silent pistol, inside a back alley clinic with the door locked. As soon as I walk outside there's a cop that just teleports in and starts blasting me.

I like the game but damn that was bullshit.

I've been reading the reviews for this on Steam a bit, and it's somewhat baffling that a) there's already 200,000+ reviews for it, and b) most of them are positive. Of course, Steam has only good/bad -review system, so some of the good reviews might be people who have been on the hedge on the issue, but still, considering all the incredible shit we have seen thus far about the game it's perplexing. Like are most of the gamers really that product- and company- loyal that no matter what they are going to give this good review, or is there something else going on? Like, is it possible that the CDPR is artificially bloating the good score on this with bots or bought reviews to cover up the shitstorm?
Because it's a recommend/not recommend system. Most people aren't going to hit not recommend because it's a 7/10 game instead of a 10/10 game, they'll just hit recommend and say "eh, it's fun."

Maybe part of the problem is that young people exist. Even if you alienate your fanbase, there's hundreds of millions of retards reaching the age of wanting to play games by the time your next piece of shit comes out. And those retards only consoom "gaming journalism" because they've been raised to trust "experts" and as such they're bound to fall for the bullshit at least a few times until they too grow cynical.

Thus the "it isn't specifically a non-lethal mission" part. You're asked to take down the cyber-psychos non-lethally. If they don't specifically make it a mission objective to non-lethally defeat the enemies and you non-lethally take them down it just acts like you killed them. Its like it doesn't bother checking unless it gave you a prompt to do it.

For some examples, there is a father/son team making snuff films in a side quest but not getting directly involved in any part but the video editing. After you gun down the gangsters working with them they're left making excuses and begging for their lives. You can either shoot them for their crimes or let them go. I decided to split the difference, beat them up and leave them for the cops as a healthy alternative. The son immediately acts like I murdered his father. On another quest there are several gangsters who are KOed with some braindance things. Also snuff related. You can shoot them if you want, at which the mission companion comments how ruthless you are (even if you're using the non-lethal rounds). Related to the hostage mission the nomad romance option asks to help get revenge on a dude. I KOed him and she's all happy about how we killed him and Rogue is texting asking if killing him was worth it.

Its especially weird since "canonically" the bounties you get as a reward for taking out enemies are paid by the police force, so most of the time non-lethally KOing enemies should be a valid option to get rid of them since they all have bounties on their heads.
I've had a couple missions react to how you do it. In the mission where you have to off the guy for the Moxes, Regina's dialogue changes based on if you kill him or not. If you don't, Regina says something like "good work, the Moxes are going to make him suffer like he made the girls suffer" or something like that. If you sneak your way through the dollhouse and don't kill anyone, V will actually tell Maiko he minimized casualties and just wanted to find Evelyn, and Maiko is slightly more receptive to you.

There's barely enough births in the first world to keep a business running just off of tricking the new generation, I feel like the biggest offenders are the le 90s kids normies that chug the dew and play foifa 2077 and your average redditor chungus moment that wants to own the "evil corps" and favour the "good corps" (actual corpodrones on their 100% glitchless retard run, the kind of mongoloid that defended dragon age inquisition) those are the ones keeping triple A in business imo, kids are busier playing f2p garbage like fortnut and whatever battle royale/multiplayer is the latest fad and I doubt any of them really cares about defending the interest of any company and would be more willing to say something sucks dick because it didn't have iron man in it.

Well, judging by this:

I think you might be right. Interestingly the difference between the generations is much lower with women. I wonder why. Maybe just shows about something something women were patriarchy'd out of gaming in the past generation and now they 'r' encouraged to be muh gamer gurls?

I never had that issue so I really don't get what they're thinking
I don't either. I literally cannot comprehend it.

If they went to a restaurant and got crappy food, they would write the place off and never go back again. Yet they can't do the same thing with video games.

I can't wrap my head around it.

It certainly is trendy to be a gamur grrl so if they're attention starved they can swing by for free simpage. Although lately I think the trend is dipping into the opposite and now you're more likely to be called a useless whore than to be simped for but since everything every dude does is game for the majority of the pop if they want to find some common ground with "chad" they gotta pump up those rookie numbers in cowadoody to duo in the battlebus. Same reason you find plenty of basic bitches in the gym doing retarded poses.
