Clock me if I'm late, but everyone needs to remember that while we're on the topic of Outer Worlds the retards who developed it blamed their miserable aesthetic choices on accessibility. They were doing it for the color blind.

Because we really need to cater to the .05% of the planet that have dog vision. That's why everything looks like an irl I Love Lucy set.

Based on the cut apartments/street cred mechanic and conversations with Jackie about "making it to the top" I suspect the original plot was a rags to riches through crime sort of thing.
I honestly would've preferred this as opposed to keanu being the main plot point. If they just HAD to have him in the game he should've been introduced like halfway through the game...because honestly it felt like it was meant to. It just kind of happens abruptly. The heist mission always felt a little off and could've used some missions to pad it out/build it up.

Ngl I really really dig these concepts for Johnny.
Hopefully the lawsuit at least gives us a better idea of what the fuck happened during development that led to the game being so broken and hollow.
I'd honestly love to see all the scrapped content and fuckery that went on behind the scenes but I really doubt we'd get much out of it.

A year later and I'm still amazed at all the heaps of praise the game got. It wasn't bad just so so soooooo mediocre especially from the original Fallout guys.
If I recall correctly it came shortly after the Fallout 76 disaster and everybody just wanted something similar to Fallout NV. People were happy to have more than the 4 dialog options present in Fallout 4 ('I want to know more', 'No', 'Yes', 'Yes, but I'm a smartass') and that there was a skill system. Most of the people were sick of the retarded writing of Emil Pagliarulo.
Hence the 'Made by the original Fallout creators' middle finger to Bethesda happened.

As for the story of Outer Worlds - I've forgotten most of it, which means for me that it was neither great nor terrible. I've always thought of it as a grotesque caricature of corporations, so the whole 'hurr corporations and capitalism bad durrr' didn't really bother me. If I recall correctly, there was also some plot lines like the one in the first planet where if you fuck over the director there (of a fishing factory or something like that), everything goes to shit eventually. You would also encounter this pajeet on the 'dangerous' planet (CBA to google it's name), who really cared about his employees. And I'm sure there is other stuff, which I forgot. Plus cmon - corporations are not some holy virtuous entities.

The gameplay was nothing special, TBH. I remember that I've crafted and upgraded some ridiculous OP shit and could simply blast through everything, if I wanted.

And one final point - I'm feel for the suckers, who had the misfortune to release Outer Wilds at almost the same time as Outer Worlds with almost the same name. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still, I think afterwards they got some popularity and money.

See this chick?

You have just seen 3/4 of all of the women in The Outer Worlds. They just have different color hair and one wears an eyepatch. Someone definitely had some weird fetish and it showed.

I legit got confused when I saw the first walkthroughs of the game and the ship AI looked just like the girl from the announcement trailer. I thought they were both somehow the same character. Bethesda games may have NPC's that look similar at times but I'm not confusing main characters with each other for the most part.

One of the things I hated most about Outer Worlds was that it offered the choice of being pro- or anti-corporation but it spends the entire game length screaming in your face about how incompetent, corrupt, and worthless those corporations are. Obsidian managed to make the almost cartoonish Caesar's Legion in New Vegas an interesting faction whose content you want to explore and maybe think they're not a completely awful option... but couldn't manage to make a pro-corporation path the least bit enticing because the writers were too obessed with "lol corporations r dum am i rite guiz".
Played through the it twice. 2nd play through has me side with the corporations with the justification of "they pay me money", which for a game that screams at you about how incompetent they are makes some form of sense. "They are killing everyone through their incompetence", Idgaf, they pay me better than anyone else.

Otherwise, it is hamfisted.

I really hope they fix the murder slope issue. I've died countless times from jumping over cars/rocks/other random scenery and landing on the very edge of them. Besides that its been mostly smooth on my medium spec pc (2600x, 16gb RAM, and 1660 ti). Before 1.05 the community SMT patch was mandatory to get above 20 fps in the busier areas, but after 1.05 it started giving me horrible screen tearing so i removed it entirely with no decrease in performance.

this is probably the stance of the developers as well in the end

I'd almost give them a pass simply because "oh they only had so many haircuts to choose from" but yeah like you said they literally went and made the unanimated avatar of the AI on the ship look the exact same.

There's legit a weapons dealer on the colony ship or whatever after the first planet that looks just like the party member they featured in all of the pre release stuff. So much so that I spent 10 minutes figuring out how to get her on the team. Then I realized the actual party member was in the medical bay across from the gun shop.

Wasn't impressed first time I played Outer Worlds, second time half a year later it was better and that's probably because I went "Fuck you give me money" and sided with the Board. Having one party member who is basically this rebel without a cause go "dude, stop cozying up to the corporations or I'll leave" followed by me intimidating him into staying was kinda good.

Combat is bare bones though, lack of "pop" with guns like you do in something like FO4. When you hit someone with a big hammer or fire a shotgun in that game, it felt nice. None of that in TOWs.

Did anyone notice the loading screen where a TV announcer jokes about Japanese whaling and Hiroshima? That's 100% present and accounted for in the Japanese release and there's not been a single bit of outrage over it. Can't help but wonder how it might've gone down if they tried to do something similar with China.

Was that screen even well-known by the Japanese community, or do they not care about it? It reminds me of when Koreans went batshit about "shrine bowing" in the most recent Sims 4 Expansion Pack, which is based on Japan, and EA eventually caved in and removed that feature.

I got it over and over again during Act 2 - they'll definitely have seen it. But probably don't give a shit about it.

Holy fuck that's the same chubby chick, like are they all clones? Looks way worse than Cyberpunk.

It propably helps that the Japanese corporation seems to be the most powerful one in the world, even if Neo hates its guts.

Well, a good fren ended up getting this for me for christmas, so I'm going to play it a lot sooner than I'd planned. I don't have any games that max out my new machine, so I'm excited to see what I can squeeze out of it once I get it installed.

Should I be in the beta channel on Steam somehow, or manually adding any fixes beyond whatever 1.06 does? It's going to be about a week before I can install and play it.

I mean.....the game will only get more stable the longer you wait so really no rush at all.

Lol just tell him you've rather not play a early access game and want the full fixed experience. Considering how big CD has tauted the Jan/Feb patches and the need for user created mods your doing him a favor by waiting instead of starting now, quiting early.

I really was looking forward to this game but after seeing how big of a difference between the 2018 demo and this I'm just gonna wait. More time for RTX 3000 cards to get back in stock.

Stealth is way too easy, if you are willing to do some save scumming, you can clear most of the levels without investing any point on coolness ot whatever is called or any perk.
Its sad how much wasted potential the game has, and at its core I think its a design contradiction: is this a game about a man trying to save his life or about a sprawling city with gangs and corporations. They tried to have both and failed at the latter.

Level with me is cyberpunk the daikatana of this generation sales numbers aside?

  • Constant delays for years
  • Massively overhyped with bombastic marketing basically promising the future of videogames is now
  • Upon release is a janky unpolished piece of shit whose promises were only technically fulfilled at best
  • Likely to ruin the reputation of everyone who worked on it for a long time
