It's very disappointing to know that Dan Olson has as big of a following as he has.

"I feel a certain amount of kinship with James Rolfe..."

It's difficult to describe in words, but his video "I Don't Know James Rolfe" just oozes pretentiousness, as everything else Dan does. How did this guy become so successful in the YouTube-sphere?

I keep seeing his smarmy soy face in my recommendations. This man has to be studied; I’ve never encountered a face so full of contemptuous smugness radiating off a retarded crosseyed slackjawed mongoloid. I’ve genuinely never been more upset at just the sight of someone more than this guy. It’s fucking befuddling why he ever thought showing his face online was a good idea. I’ve never heard his voice, nor watched any of his videos. By his face alone do I loathe him.

It's the result of a slippery slope paved by disgenic specimens in the modern era.

Computers and the internet, as self-evidently wonderful and terrible and beautiful and hideous as the latter has become in the hands of us overdeveloped apes, have opened the floodgates for hyper-focused autistists to experience an avenue for "community" and "socialization" which no previous generation of random autists would have enjoyed. Sure, you had your Teslas and your DaVincis which were probably some flavor of neurodivergent/autistic, but the vast, vast majority of these autists would have been quietly tilling fields and dying as incel virgins, being laid to rest in paupers' graves after the passing of their caretakers, in any other time throughout recorded history and likely even less ceremoniously before that.

However, because of the increasing levels of abstraction from "IRL" and simultaneous removal of physical constraints on socialization - all made possible through the irreversible progress of modern technology - these autists now can find community, support, and voice that reaches farther than their pants-shitting crop farmer ancestors could have ever dreamed of. The increased exposure to disgenic partners and elevated levels of social protection further fuel those fires.

Anyway, Dan Olson wields a megaphone the likes of which the world had never seen prior to the 21st century, magnifying his autistic thesaurus-fueled ramblings to the masses. Those similar to him fold over backwards in admiration and adulation while unironically residing comfortably in obscurity in their mothers' basements or taking a shit in their megacorp employer's data center's B5 bathrooms. They press the endorphin button (👍) on social media, an almost mandatory response given the euphoria of hearing and seeing someone like them say things they believe in. This creates a self-fulfilling prophecy of content creation, engagement, and thus further specialized creation of content FABA (For Autists By Autists). Eventually this will probably lead to a singularity of autism, assuming enough of them make it past their doorstep and we don't nuke ourselves over some rocks in a desert in the near future.

TL;DR: Ego, narcissism, possible face blindness, and debilitating levels of autism. Autism gonna autism, man.

New video, he's doing the creationism vs secular sciences in 2025. Just let that sink in, these people have run out of modern day boogeymen so they have to rehash 20-50 year old slapfights to keep the grift going. (Also these people are so against religion in general that they ignore the times so called evangelical scientists ended up being correct like with joseph priestley who discovered oxygen and believed in phlogistons, an ether like element which supposedly caused combustion)

Without watching the video, I wonder if he even bothers to make any distinctions between creationists (which would technically be anybody who believes in a Creator) vs variants like "young earth creationists" (fake fossils and stuff). I just find it ironic that people like Dan usually get upset if you conflate communists and socialists but then will do their own conflating with anybody else they don't agree with.

It was interesting to hear the history of this small town in New York only notable for its dinosaur footprints (once so common and unappreciated there's one in a rock in the town well) which led to an economy of real and forged foot prints of dinosaurs and giants, the study of which was coopted for religious reasons.

But of course, he has to make it about race. He can't leave young Earth creationism at: people want to believe the Bible completely literally and like to be told what they want to hear. He has to add that the Catholic Church and Biblical literalism somehow created Jim Crow law, and that Kent Hovind wants the Bible to be an easy to read book for the consumption of WHITE!!!!! southerners. Implying Kent Hovind's pro Catholic and Jim Crow because he wants to believe Earth was created 6000 years ago!

He does at least differentiate between young and old Earth creationists and mentions that the original creators of the footprint documentary recanted when disproven, only for their statements to be cited by later young Earth creationists anyway, and he does note that even other young Earth creationists like Ken Ham disavow Carl Baugh.
