Darkest Dungeon

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Speaking of trannies, did you know that the Miscreant class was based on the guy who created the class to be a tranny?
I called this shit, good riddance.
Snorlaxxo (a modder who has come up in this thread before, and a DD and BR Discord mod) was demodded from DD and kicked from Team Reliquary for joining this conspiracy
This faggot was responsible for the Blue Archive class mods in the workshop. (and as usual, is making another one)

I picked DD1 for PS4 on a sale a couple weeks ago and finally giving it a somewhat serious run. I tried playing it a few times on pc years ago but I never got very far before quitting out. Plus I can't stand these type of games that just seems to throw random negative shit at you constantly until you ragequit the game. But I watched a bunch of videos to get an idea of team building (basically Jestal with 2 random front units, usually Hellion/Shieldbreaker) and what kinds of provisions to bring each trip and it's going better this time. I feel I'm at about the mid-game portion, a lot of my roster are lvl 5-6 and I feel pretty comfortable going through champion missions, but I feel like I should complete everything before trying to go into the actual Darkest Dungeon. I got spoiled a little so I know about there being 4 parts and you can only use heroes once, so I'm trying to build up the 4 teams now and saving Reynauld/Dismas for the last run. I'm using some of the DLC's, not Crimson Court just the extra classes and part of Color of Madness so for now I'm just grinding out heirlooms to finish the town and districts while slowly taking out the last levels of mid-bosses in each area. Then if I ever complete the game I'll go back and try a run with CC to get the full experience.

Finished my blood moon run at 73 weeks. Could've cut down 20 weeks or so if I didn't want to beat all the regional bosses before the darkest dungeon. Long champion mission is such a drag. I would've grind for the rest of the CC trinkets but garden guardian is just a boring boss.
Endless harvest it is, I guess.

Ah fuck I forgot the endless loot bug thing so I guess that's it for this save.
anyone that destroyed the shield (be it willingly or not) defo did, it's such a shitty boss it's unreal

This is conspiracy theory territory but if you ask me this boss (and the Thing) was definitely created to sell more shieldbreaker dlc. High prot, immune to dot and debuff, constant guarding. I've tried various teams and the difference in kill time when you bring even 1 shieldbreaker is unreal. Double shieldbreaker just destroy this thing.

then you can make the argument for the cannon as well, the simpler reason is that SB is a pretty great generalist that has the only practical application of AP.
also the thing from the stars is not immune to debuffs, hound btfos it pretty easily with his busted mark.

You can revert to the last build without the bug using Properties > Betas. For GOG you would look for Betas in Galaxy, or use backups of the old installer.

The cannon doesn't also have a cyclic guard which you can't stun and are punished for killing (two out of three non-DLC options for dealing with guard). Jester's Dirk Stab has Bypass Guard, but using Dirk Stab against 50% PROT is as painful as using anything else against 50% PROT, and Dirk Stab doesn't have Break Guard.

Until Champion level I prefer to use AP (the Grave Robber will do) and/or DoT for the Thing. Houndmaster's PROT debuff scales from -20% to -30%, but the Thing's PROT is always 80%.

which is more of a boss issue than an SB selling point, there's nothing defensible about that shield since it's a peak example of how the developers hate the people that play their own game

of course first thing i'll mention is that choices are still choices, and as long they work they work, so do whatever you want with the following information regarding hound's mark
  1. first and foremost the base chance is a gargantuan 130-170% (baseline for any other debuff is 100-140%), with each iteration of this boss you will always have a base 90-100*% (if you've properly leveled him up that is, if not it goes down up to a 70/50%) chance to remove 20/30% of its prot
  2. the duration of his mark specifically is 4 rounds instead of the usual 3, which means that even a lone hound can stack multiple debuffs on him and take that 80% down to a meager 40-20%
  3. being a mark he wants someone else to reap the benefits of it (be it another hound, a bounty or an arbalest), so if you have to you can simply leave the hound to constantly debuff him and make him the other mark's bitch, whatever works.
*of course i'm implying that you aren't using an exploit to override the retarded hero level mechanics the game has, the 100% doesn't apply for the champion version since it stops at 170%

SB selling point
and
there's nothing defensible about that shield since it's a peak example of how the developers hate the people that play their own game
aren't mutually exclusive. The Shieldbreaker can be a good generalist, the Guardian can be a steaming pile of a boss, and the Guardian can have been specifically designed so that only the Shieldbreaker can make it 50% less awful.

Do I actually believe that was their intent? Surely. It came to me in a dream.

Double shieldbreaker just destroy this thing.
Yeah I obviously have an SB in any dedicated Guardian team. I don't do two because it just seems too cheesy, but the thing is genuinely annoying in how weaksauce it is and how grindy it is to fill out your CC trinkets to be a completionist fag.

About the only "strategy" is just don't destroy the shield and whack on the Tardian whenever you can then heal up in between shield attacks. And even the one time (the first time) I destroyed the shield, I still won. That's the only time I even lost someone on it and I've fought the piece of shit hundreds of times.

Also in other SB tricks for this fight, using Snake Eyes to give everyone PROT-piercing is dandy. It's almost superfluous since this weakass thing can't win anyway but it speeds up a boring fight.

(The spoiler doesn't really matter, it's just something you'll figure out the first time you fight this utterly unremarkable boss anyway.)

You're a life saver.

I don't usually double up on heroes either but seeing double impale activate the funny chemical in my brain. It is the new duelist advance - holy lance for me.

I'm going to disagree with that because the devs at least at the time were very open to criticism and the current game balance, as pathetically easy as it is, was largely in response to player criticism.

They got rid of a lot of utterly game-breaking exploits but even after doing that, and making the game slightly harder, it's still absurdly exploitable and the dominant stun-stall strategy makes it possible for anyone remotely good at the game just to own it every time.

And people still whine that they are too dumb to get past obvious gimmick bosses.

Even outside the courtyard, I'm still managed to die to apex predator.

I've only tried 2 runs of endless so far using Jester/Vestal and double Shieldbreaker. 2nd run I got to I think 148 before the Vestal died on the crocodile boss and I stopped it there. I need to speed tune the Shieldbreakers better so I can keep the impale loop going or I might just try a different team. I also need to figure out provisions on these runs that aren't the 4 main dungeons. My first endless run I don't think I brough anything then the 2nd I only had one stack of everything. The worst was doing the Skrieker fight with full provisions because I thought it was a dungeon, then I brought nothing against the bandits/Vvulf mission because I thought it was the same with just a fight and barely got out with my full team.

The one responsible for the 2B, Wizard and Vermintide Mod, ShallowIris, had constant fights after he (its a tranny) got doxxed by an equally retarded modder, going by the name of Kaze (yes, the Chinese have also infested the workshop, whoop-de-fucking-do), who does Patreon-restricted mods, but has shit art-design and balance. I love the mods, but my fucking goodness I hate the modders in question.
A few days ago sir_manaplay uploaded a backport for the Kvarotz (enemies from Black Reliquary, for those unfamiliar), but because sir_manaplay helped Kaze in this retard fight, Iris bitched to Seal and the Kvarotz backport is no longer on Steam. Skymods still has it as of now and I've grabbed it from there.

Von Krolock
Reactivated his Patreon in January, and last posted 3 days ago. If he still has the taste for modding I hope he stays out of the den of vipers.

In less retarded news, the coming_in_hot beta branch on Steam should now have a 64-bit client with the Farmstead loot bug fixed.

Wait, are you telling me it was Kaze who was the other guy related to the Miscreant shitfest other than Snorlaxxo? I only knew Kaze because of his shit mods. The other drama I remember Kaze and sir_manaplay was involved in them related to Iris in the Iron Crown server where Kaze made a mod showcasing a nude Iris or some shit.

No, AFAIK Kaze was not involved with Miscreant. Iris bitched about sir_manaplay doing a Kvarotz backport because sir_manaplay helped Kaze dox Iris in the Kaze vs Iris beef.

There is now a 64-bit Chinese-patched client based on the Steam beta build with the Farmstead bug fix. Unlike the 32-bit Chinese patch where the modders did the service of increasing the client's memory cap and trinket cap, the 64-bit client doesn't have those problems to begin with, so the only reasons to use this patch are 1) you use mods which rely on the niche functions the patch fixes or 2) you're not on Steam and you want to play Color of Madness/the Farmstead in 64-bit NOW NOW NOW NOW. But it exists, if either reason applies to you.

Finally hit 300 on Endless for the achievement. I switched out one Shieldbreaker for Man-at-Arms and got to 232, but it was frustrating as all fuck and required countless reloads because I kept getting fucked by RNG on the bosses early. I used at least 10 on Sunken Crew because I had the wrong skills and couldn't kill the anchor guy healing unless SB got a crit, finally I said fuck it and hit multiple crits on the main part and just rushed it down. After that run I switched back to double Shieldbreaker with better speed difference to make Impale go brrrr and lucked out hitting Collector twice on the boss stages and dipped out after 303 before my party got too fucked with stress. I don't want to hear the Ancestor talk about the Miller being thrice a victim ever again.
