Yeah, making a movie of Watchmen was fucktarded from the getgo (it's like making a ballet out of Citizen Kane or turning Ulysses into a cartoon, like, why??). But, credit where credit is due, Snyder was at least trying something kinda interesting with his superverse, ie, taking the notion of "Superheroes as modern mythology" and taking it seriously and doing something grand and epic with it. Even if he is too dullheaded and literalminded to do anything with it other than LOOK BIG SUPERGODS PUNCH THINGS IT'S JUST LIKE THE GREEKS AND THE ROMANS, but it's something, unlike Marvel, whose every movie is just Current Year with shit CGI and cape quips. Also, I may be in the minority, but his casting was fucking aces (Cavill, Affleck, and Gadot, and even folks like J.K. Simmons, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, like, his casting was fucking great), I just wish he'd given them something to do other than stand around open mouthed muttering edgelord monosyllables in front of green screens.
