Yeah they were doing ok until now but some of these redesigns are fucking terrible.

Fucking EA.
So the necromorphs are now all niggamorphs and the USG Ishimura is basically just Detroit.

Which also means a lot of black and gay people are getting ripped apart in this rendition by proxy.

Bros, is EA actually based?

Don't understand the change to Johnston at all. He's not even fucking white, he's hispanic. Same with Kendra. Jesus are they going to change the arabic guy who creates the regenerating necromorph into a crazy white guy?

I just can't help but feel how bloated they've made the script now, the original intro was already fine as it was, now they've added a bunch of unnecessary shit about Kendra's girlfriend and Hammond looking into Kendra's personnel files.

Also the performances of the old voice actors seemed better, Hammond has lost a lot of authority, and Kendra sounds too sure of herself.

Don't really know why they changed the dynamic. Hammond was the one being antagonistic and suspicious as he clearly knew more than he let on, Kendra being more panicked and confiding with Clarke that she doesn't trust Hammond. Now the intro basically spells out that Kendra is more than just a data engineer while stealing lines from Hammond

the girls looks so old now (ironic that Hammond looks younger and more good looking) but Nicole... Jesus, what did they do too you? oh, and Kendra is now gay.
They got Tanya Clarke back as Nicole and based her off Tanya's likeness again, and since she's ostensibly supposed to be late 30s in Dead Space it's not really that much of an issue, although she does look a little too old now. Hammond and Kendra look like shit though and the lesbian dialogue is completely on the nose. I can't say I'm sold on their voice actors either, considering how much of the game revolves around what those two characters say to Isaac. Hammond's original voice actor was great at getting you to mistrust him at first before slowly establishing himself as more heroic while Kendra's original voice actress was great at seeming like a normal terrified person caught up in a horrifying situation before revealing her true colors.

He's voiced by a Pakistani guy and assuming he's also doing the motion capture it seems not.

The changes are absolutely unnecessary and have the potential to subtracted from the game. Dead Space was relatively tight and had little to no fat, this on the other hand seems like needless bloat.

Damn, some turbo autist took the time to nitpick the propaganda posters. Talk about dedication. Very dumb, but still.

Anyways, the remake looks surprisingly good. I appreciate the decision to give lines to Isaac since it no longer makes sense for him to be a mute.

I wonder ofnthey are gonna add stalkers to dead space 1
They probably are the scariest enemies in the series

The OG Dead Space is still playable and looks nice for its age. Not even curiosity will make me buy this.
Yeah, as I said in up-thread, I only recently finished DS1 in the last year after years of neglecting it due to the asteroid section. It defo hit home with an underlying sense of dread. The slight disconnect with last gen graphics didn't matter after a certain point, I just wanted off the ship.

The way Isaac moves here in the remake is, a bit too fluid, I think. Like I would walk slowly with the weapon held in front of me so your mileage may vary.

Why do they insist on making the characters looks like the voice actors? It serves absolutely no purpose nor makes any sense to do this. Voice actors provide an audio performance, their likeness is irrelevant and yet here we are having to deal with the female love interest of the protagonist looking like a (G/T)ranny. Oh and let's also make Kendra an androgynous lesbian because "muh male gaze".

I'm so sick of current year AAA game development and their attitude towards displaying any femininity or attractiveness in women.

Dead Space is one of my favorite games form that time period, I've replayed it multiple times and it was one of those watershed titles that redefined the genre.

Agree, it is one of those titles that released on an era where IMHO graphical fidelity was starting to have diminishing returns. I recently reinstalled it on PC and with everything set to max still looks great.

I dunno man, I really hated those turret sections.

It is really one of the weakest sections of the game and the only way I managed to make it less annoying was aiming with a mouse.

Dead Space on console was suffering for this exact reason.

If anything I hope the make The Hive Mind a bit more challenging. The bosses on DS1 were some of the weakest parts of the game besides The Hunter. I also hope they add hardcore mode again.

Nicole actually looks worse than the voice actress, which is a running theme with face scanned actors, it always looks a bit off in motion

It's also a EA game and they fuck up the faces of female characters on purpose.

I know it sounds petty but I truly have become so fed up with current year wokeness that simply hearing that the Ishimura ads have all been race-swapped for diversity points is enough for me to decide against even touching this remake. I had rising hopes before but now I think I’ll stick with the original, thanks.
My issue is with that is, assuming this works (and honestly after seeing T.C.P failing, it will no doubt be a big sale boost), will they remake 2 and eventually 3? Or go in a different direction? I wouldnt want them to kill Isaac off, its ultimately HIS story but I wonder if we will return to Titan Station or if they will possibly even change the origin of the markers (the brethren moons felt like they worked better in concept than execution).
I always felt like the Brethren Moons were an okay explanation for the Markers, but they could have been something greater. There is a deleted audio log from Dead Space 2 that I really like. It hinted at an alternate explanation for the Markers that went unused:

The gist of the explanation was that the Markers were used as a tool by some greater being to impart revenge on the creator of mankind by corrupting and destroying humanity through the Markers. It's quite scary and the voice actress did a great job with it, so it's a shame it was scrapped. And although it was probably removed because they weren't certain at the time that it was the explanation they wanted to go with, you can't help but wonder now if it would've been something better.
