Dead Space Thread

Last time I tried Dead Space I found it too dated looking to hold my interest, a remake is a good idea in theory, if it weren't for Woke poisoning EA.

We'll have to see how it goes.
still holds up imo because the atmosphere is more important than 4k textures.

Isaac is now a black woman with an afro.
ayo fuck yoa and fuck yo marka!!

The game didn't hold my attention enough even when it was new though.

I mean that's just me, personally I felt the environments were too repetitive, 2 I liked and finished because they solved that issue, you went through a greater variety of environments.

If they are going to remake the game they should expand on it with new areas of the ship.

The ironic thing is that I wanted Dead Space 4 for years, not only because of the cliffhanger ending of Awakened couldnt possibly not be setting up something and because I wanted Visceral Games to redeem themselves because I knew 3 was a mess thanks mostly on EA's part....but that never happened for obvious reasons. EA gave the middle finger to this series after giving it unrealistic sale expectations.

NOW that Dead Space is both a somewhat nostalgic property and EA is lacking on their horror departament compared to their rivals, like with Capcom with their revitalized Resident Evil series that is making gang busters, NOW EA is like

"Hey, cons- I mean, gamers! Remember Dead Space?! Of course you do! What would like to get a REMAKE of the fi-"

No, no, fuck off, fuck you, fuck this, fuck that, fuck that noise, fuck this shit, fuck everything you fucking stand for you fucking fucks. You set up this series for failure and when it did "failed", you murdered its dev team like they were nothing without ever giving them a chance for redemption. Now that you need a franchise to act like a nostalgic cash cow/horror genre stand in, you are bringing this series back.

So no, it can be Dead Space 1 remake, Dead Space 4 or remaster, I aint giving a single dime to you backstabbing corporate pricks!

I respecfully disagree, I can SEE where you are coming from but it was never an issue to me. Its clear that the whole ship was to feel like a decaying body so rust was everywhere and the necromorphs were like disgusting viruses. The Ishimura felt like a dirty old place to work in even before all the marker shit happened. For me it gave the ship personality and visual storytelling. Yeah, it can get a tad repetitive but I think that in this case, it played to its advantages. But I agree that Dead Space 2 was wise to change things up in terms of visuals but 1 still does an amazing job with what it had in terms of visuals (as limited as they were).

The people who made the first 2 Dead Space games aren't at Visceral anymore. Glen Schofield started a new studio and he's working on a game similar to Dead Space.

Isn't there another Dead Space style game in the works which involves the original team behind DS1?

They even released some trailer a while ago.

Never before I wanted a game to live up to my expectations...

Great looking
Good world building
Dead Space-ish imagery and tech
Disgustingly good The thing styled body horror...
Some sort of claustrophic facility

PLEASE actually be good. PLEASE!

The engine was only an issue because EA mandated it's use, but refused to adequately train people to use it properly.
It also missed a fuck ton of features and the support team for it were mostly on FIFA and Madden duty. So many devs had to spend a lot of the dev time improving the engine rather than making the games. So not even about training just an engine really made to be good at first-person games and not much else and needed a fuck ton of work to get it to be versatile. I mean maybe the engine is in a working state now but the truth is EA should do what Square Enix did and move most games to Unreal to finally get games out without half the dev time being spend on getting the engine to work.

I can only hope that EA has sorted out their shit and don't fuck this up.

Welp, the rumors were true
Some details from IGN:

-No microtransactions.
-Current gen/PC only.
-Will utilize new Frostbite features, like 3D audio and raytracing.
-No load times, or at least make it as seamless as possible.
-Will look to other DS games for inspiration, such as the zero-g sections of 2 and 3.
-Will feature "enhanced dismemberment mechanics".
-Won't be "60-100 hours long", will use original as template while expanding on certain ideas.

Overall, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about this one (although I was one of the freaks that liked 3, so what do I know), and will be interesting to see how it'll compare with The Calisto Protocol. I'll give Capcom credit for their recent Resident Evil games, they seemed to have led to the survival horror genre getting a shot in the arm.

I guess they're pulling a Hangar 13 and they're rewriting Dead Space for a new audience.

Perhaps, and I could see them incorporating things like 3's Sovereign Colonies into the backstory of Aegis VII.

Rumors are going about that they've taken Resident Evil 2 Remake as inspiration, so take of that as you will.

I wonder if the PC version will be as broken as the original was (and still is).

Unless they completely ace the remake I am not touching it with a ten foot pole, especially since EA shut down Visceral only 5 years ago. If I were some of the people who worked at Visceral I would be pissed.
