Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Rainbow6 : Vegas, FEAR, Wing Commander and Dead Space all need reboots or new parts. I mean if they can make a new System Shock, they can make a new Vegas (I hold hope for Ready Or Not) Same goes for Splinter Cell, it died with Conviction, and Blacklist didnt even make an impression.
Also, I dont care what the haters say, I will never let the Mass Effect Trilogy die in my heart. Yes it had it's shit moments but it was still my most replayable, and most enjoyable game. And no, Andromeda doesn't count. It never happened.

Until recently, I kept an old Pentium PC on life support with it's original un-updated Windows 98, solely to run Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising, Homeworld, Tribes, the entire Wing Commander series (including Privateer), and Heroes of Might & Magic.

One day I might resurrect the thing.....

I'd actually be interested in seeing a build log of this if you ever do it.

Oh god how do I want a new Wizardry game, in the style of 6 through 8 and not like all those 1 through 3 and also 5 reskins that come out of Japan. I'd even take a proper "trilogy remake" with updated graphics for all (and possibly retrofitting 8 to the grid based style and 6&7 class change system), but definitely carrying over keeping the characters endings/beginnings through the three games. I've been playing Grimoire lately. It does a decent job of getting the feel (particularly of 7) down but the interface is an exercise in frustration

Also Starflight. Exploring space, doing diplomacy with various alien species, setting up interstellar trade routes and accidentally discovering the main quest was great fun

Battle Arena Toshinden. Soul Blade killed it eventually, RIP.

But the second game still has one of the best soundtracks ever. The PSX disc could even be played as an audio CD.

Battlefield bad company suffered an undeserved end.
Only played 2 but it ended one a cliffhanger that one would think it could get a sequel. Considering the mainline series last made a WWII themed game a year or two back while Bad Company was last released about a decade ago, Bad Company 3 could be a thing, at least until one remembers EA could try to find a way to gut it for whatever money they can get while letting the product suffer in the eyes of older fans.

Always wanted to try Wizardry. There are a lot of fans on this site I noticed. Is it worth starting with 6? I can't seem to find the first 5 anywhere that isn't a legitimate storefront.

6 starts a trilogy and significantly revamps the system. If you don't care about the beginning of the story, skip to 7 or 8. There's a huge step up in graphics.

Any of 1,2,3 and 5 are mostly interchangeable. 4 is an interesting idea and worth playing anyway, but you'll need the manual

Hi hello

Here to support my dead franchises.

-Wing Commander
-Wild Arms
-Metroid is almost a dead franchise because Other M and everything after it were absolute garbage

And I'm still waiting for a Final Fantasy VI remake.

I've heard about 4 and how exiting the first room is nearly impossible if you don't know what to do. It sounds interesting but I go back and forth whether I want to subject myself to it.

One other question, I've seen screenshots of Wizardry and it looks remarkably similar to the Might and Magic games. What makes Wizardry special from those other dungeon crawlers exactly?

In the later trilogy? You're in the middle of a war between space marine rhinos and astral spiders, with a rat mafia in the background

What is it with these PC fantasy dungeon crawlers that get all science-fictiony out of nowhere? Ultima I, II, and III and the first several Might and Magic games all end up going to space or some shit and it's downright bizarre.

Space rhinos and a rat mafia sound insane though and I have to see that.

I couldn't really get into Ultima but I loved the SF in Wizardry in addition to the very detailed character stats and skills. How science fictiony did might and magic get? I have never played those

Advance wars. got axed beacuse they could not turn it into a waifu game.
Nintendo didn't turn it into a waifu game because they didn't even try. Sami alone has enough waifu potential to keep a trilogy afloat. Nintendo dumped it to rot along with F-Zero, Custom Robo and Metroid.

It's really strange that no indie dev has ripped off- I mean- gotten inspired by Advance Wars and made a spiritual successor. Maybe after they finish "2D Metroidvania Souls Like #23,581" they can get to work on an AW clone.

Games that I refuse to believe are dead:

Virtua Fighter. Won't see anymore of it because SEGA makes awful business decisions. They gave up Bayonetta 2 when it was almost complete for fuck's sake.

Viewtiful Joe. At least a PC port. PCSX2 crashes every few minutes and it's the only game that runs poorly on Dolphin, so emulating it is a pain. We got Killer 7 and Ookami on PC, why not Joe?

Ninja Gaiden. Even if a new one does come out there's a 70% chance of it sucking, but I'll take anything at this point. Yaiba was cancer.

Metal Slug. I'm autistically optimistic about SNK's rebirth. A new Metal Slug is coming.

Quake. Quake Champions was a misstep. Hopefully they pull a DOOM 2016 and make something closer to the original. It worked for DOOM.

Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. They got that Gacha game for PC (which has NO gameplay) but it would be cool to see a new one with updated graphics.

Games that I've given up on hoping for a new entry:
Katamari Damacy, Custom Robo, Advance Wars, F-Zero, Metal Arms, Battlefield: Bad Company, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Rising: Reveangeance, Anarchy Reigns, Saints Row.
