Deadlock - An FPS MOBA by Valve.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm hopefully optimistic about Deadlock so far, and pray it doesn't become ultra gay like Fagorant and Niggerwatch. I really miss Monday Night Combat, and this sort of scratches that itch for me. I don't typically like hero shooters, but it's fun for what it is. I've noticed some game features directly lifted from Dota, like being able to deny creeps and "jungle" camps. The UI for the options page and the communication wheel is ripped straight from Dota, which isn't shocking because it's a moba shooter running on Source 2. The default controls are a bit of a mess for active items right now, and the map is really barebones, but that's to be expected in an early beta.

I understand people shitting on it, but I'm all for the mad scientist-level of mashing genres that is trying to be pulled off here. As long as Valve doesn't inject identity politics into my vidya it'll be ok.

I am really hopeful that an actually good game for the PC gets released soon, I hope Valve can do that.
The game right now looks like globohomo slop, but I pray they will decide against it.

Are you talking art style? Some of the characters are rough to look at right now.

The colors are too damn bright and every light source has crazy bloom.
I hope they switch things up completely like they did with half life 2 after there was a negative reaction to the leaks. Maybe there is some good left.

Playing it reminds me of how rough TF2 was during beta. I'm sure they'll overhaul things eventually.

I tried it and while not my thing, a friend of mine said it's what Overwatch should have been in terms gameplay.

I tried it.

It's more MOBA than shooter. Even if you're good at shooters, you will lose because of the MOBA mechanics.

I don't like MOBAs.
Is it like older LOL or DOTA which had "actual mechanics" or more like current one where its braindead rush b lmao.

It comes off like a game that they made in 2016 and then buried in a time capsule.
Atleast the MOBA fans that are still around seem to be enjoying it, this games being released long long after the peak of the MOBA craze and I don't think it's gonna go far. Seems like the spirited hatred for it might be a bit unfair and driven by Valve's neglect of other games.

The skills are pretty simple but you can get by most situations just sticking with other people. You can cheese out some wins by sneaking behind them, though. I'm otherwise not too familiar with MOBAs.

I got an invite yesterday, maybe this is how I get into mobas? I think I would rather try league out again. The game is an eyesore visually. Looks like a random f2p shooter from the early 2010's. Art Direction and the UI is a mess.

Played about 40hrs and I'm honestly loving it. Not understanding even the basics of a moba will put you at a huge disadvantage though.
In typical Dota fashion you can win lane pretty hard by just last hitting and denying enemy creeps. I ended a 1v1 lane the other night 3k souls ahead at 7ish minutes.
