Deadlock - An FPS MOBA by Valve.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
It's a shame that Deadlock is being pitched against TF2 for some reason, considering the games are massively different and only similarities so far is that you shoot gun and artstyle is somewhat similar. I love TF2 and used to play the shit out of it when it was relevant, being probably the only game I dumped a lot of time into (with a pinch of Nazi Zombies and other games in between) like many other people at the time. But seeing the state of the community now and how people act in general makes me grow less and less sympathetic about the state of the game. Recently I watched some dork's video where he bitched about TF2 bots, Valve and Deadlock just at the very end of the video go "teehee quick edit they fixed the bot issue", then you have trannies doing all their scheming shit and many other things on top of it. When I stopped playing TF2 the community was already garbage, but then it started to get even worse each month from what I've seen. At this point I just ask myself "do I support this just to make THAT kind of people happier?". The people who made the community of the game I enjoyed unbearable who still plague the game and I suppose to sympathize with them?

I finally got to play Deadlock PvP with friends instead of messing around in bot matches while waiting for PvP matches to open up. It was fairly fun, but I feel like the fun was coming from the game being unexplored and lot of people still don't know what each character does, so it doesn't get TOO sweaty yet. It is probably the best time to play the game as well, since later I'm assuming it will get gayed up with standardized meta and other crap like that. There are already 'favorites', like you'll be seeing Seven nearly every match. But the same people also don't really know much of any other characters and will get fucked by the fact that they just main one guy and don't know how others function. It is a shame that they have a few complete retard proof characters like the sniper girl and I'd rather that kind of players get filtered right away. It brings me back to playing Monday Night Combat way back, although I wish the game would turn out more like HotS when it comes to map variety and importance of team work. Foundation is neat, but where it stands right now it can just go anywhere and what we see in beta doesn't say anything. Game also looks rough-ish, but I also remember Dota 2 beta and a lot of shit was just replaced there over time. So it's not something I'm too worried about.

Overall right now it seems like a fun game to hop into, but I'm really curious how they'll handle maps and other game modes before I make any real judgement. if it's just the same map for all eternity (like it is for dota 2) then it is certainly a game I'll end up losing interest in eventually.

I think this leak was a purposeful ploy by valve for attention since everyone knows Dane is a useful faggot/idiot.
If it was a ploy then uncle dane would have made the game more appealing in his leaks. Valve just capitalized on the situation and decided to let people play the game. Btw I got through email so I'm an oldCHAD deadlock scholar.

It's fun so far. Unfortunately I feel as though the only reason for that is because all the characters are really powerful. This is unfortunate not because the characters are strong, but because there's a really good chance what makes them powerful (fun) gets nerfed. One character called Seven has a massive AOE ult that constantly ticks anyone in line of sight while he hovers in place, and the higher up you are the wider the AOE gets. Another guy on my team was playing a character that can pick up teammates and fly around with them, so I used my ult and he picked me up and flew me around. I specced into damage, lifesteal and ability duraition so the ability lasted 15-20 seconds or something and also did eough damage to kill everyone on the enemy team. Funny stuff, but I feel like that's not going to be possible on release day.

The seven ult? Easily counterable literally just buy the acmee hammer and stun him with it. Depending on if icefrog will buff slowing ward so it cancels out movement abilities again. Then you could easily do that to Ivy and have her fall. This is Dota balancing btw.

all the old guard of valve designers and writers are gone because they didn't feel like updating csgo and dota forever
if you play ASSFAGGOTS then you deserve what you get
Which is a good point. Do they even have people left to make another TF2?

no, but they could preserve the original by attempting to filter out bot traffic, if they were so inclined
for this reason I will never stoop to the slavish devotion of gabe and valve that so many redditors are afflicted with

They already fixed it. You can go on tf2 rn and you'll find 0 bots.

so there are actually 10k more legit players right now than there were bots in the last three years? surely you jestin
You're moving the goalpost. Literally just install tf2 and play it, you'll find 0 sniper bots spinning around. But of course your average hatkek doesn't even play the hatkek simulator. They just stick to their echo chamber talking about how doomed hecking valverino is. Kekky.

no I'm not moving the goalpost, this isn't a debate. I'm just disbelieving because as a hatkek, I was frustrated by bots for three years so I stopped playing the game. valve isn't doomed, they're just soulless now because their old game designers left. not sure why this causes seethe, as it's the truth.

Ok but like you can boot it up right now and check and if it's not true you can uninstall it.

I'm willing to give it a try when it comes out. Are the movement mechanics fun?
I think it is. At the start it feels a bit sluggish, but once you buy items that increase your stamina (the amount of times you can dash/dash jump) and boots with movements speed it can get pretty crazy. The movement reminds me of GunZ: The Duel.

Overall I'm surprised with how much I've enjoyed the game after giving it a try. I think after Concord's god awful art direction and character design, Deadlock's characters and lore so far is a breath of fresh air.

I absolutely don't like how the matchmaking works right now. The team composition is important but you don't have any influence on that, unless you play with pre made group.

Most games for me feel like a stomp currently.
