It's a shame that Deadlock is being pitched against TF2 for some reason, considering the games are massively different and only similarities so far is that you shoot gun and artstyle is somewhat similar. I love TF2 and used to play the shit out of it when it was relevant, being probably the only game I dumped a lot of time into (with a pinch of Nazi Zombies and other games in between) like many other people at the time. But seeing the state of the community now and how people act in general makes me grow less and less sympathetic about the state of the game. Recently I watched some dork's video where he bitched about TF2 bots, Valve and Deadlock just at the very end of the video go "teehee quick edit they fixed the bot issue", then you have trannies doing all their scheming shit and many other things on top of it. When I stopped playing TF2 the community was already garbage, but then it started to get even worse each month from what I've seen. At this point I just ask myself "do I support this just to make THAT kind of people happier?". The people who made the community of the game I enjoyed unbearable who still plague the game and I suppose to sympathize with them?
I finally got to play Deadlock PvP with friends instead of messing around in bot matches while waiting for PvP matches to open up. It was fairly fun, but I feel like the fun was coming from the game being unexplored and lot of people still don't know what each character does, so it doesn't get TOO sweaty yet. It is probably the best time to play the game as well, since later I'm assuming it will get gayed up with standardized meta and other crap like that. There are already 'favorites', like you'll be seeing Seven nearly every match. But the same people also don't really know much of any other characters and will get fucked by the fact that they just main one guy and don't know how others function. It is a shame that they have a few complete retard proof characters like the sniper girl and I'd rather that kind of players get filtered right away. It brings me back to playing Monday Night Combat way back, although I wish the game would turn out more like HotS when it comes to map variety and importance of team work. Foundation is neat, but where it stands right now it can just go anywhere and what we see in beta doesn't say anything. Game also looks rough-ish, but I also remember Dota 2 beta and a lot of shit was just replaced there over time. So it's not something I'm too worried about.
Overall right now it seems like a fun game to hop into, but I'm really curious how they'll handle maps and other game modes before I make any real judgement. if it's just the same map for all eternity (like it is for dota 2) then it is certainly a game I'll end up losing interest in eventually.
