The Early Death Battle Days weren't amazing, but it had a comfy garage-band feel that let them make edgy jokes like doing making Rebecca Black vs Justin Beiber because they found it funny, running Mai vs Chun-Li on the basis of "Tits vs Ass", having Felecia vs Taokaka just to have a catgirl fight, or making Bucky O’Hare vs Fox McCloud just because they thought it was cool.
Don’t forget Chuck Norris vs Segata Sanshiro. That episode was just a lot of them having fun, and you could feel that watching it.

Early research wasn't the greatest, mostly because it was just Ben and Chad spitballing their geek knowledge. It had charm, and it slowly improved as the show went on a few seasons. It wasn't perfect by any means with some real stinkers like the RWBY shill episode, but at least back in the S1-5/6 days they employed some level of scrutiny and sense rather than the nonsensical wankfests to make everyone leagues beyond what their actual settings are that we get every episode these days.

It just sucks the fun out of predicting and debating upcoming episodes, because now all that matters to them is, "how many gajillion universes is this character's setting worth?" instead of, "how will these characters' abilities and fighting styles interact with each other?"
Is that your fancy way of saying that a lot of battles these days comes down to “this many times faster than light” or “this attack is worth this amount of TNT?” along with who has the bigger number when those questions are answered?

Just finished the episode and this was really cool. The editing for those analyses was sick, and so was the kill.

My only complaint is autistic, but Death Battle’s new intros suck.

Back in season 9 and before, there was some brief explanation to build up hype and tell you why they picked these two to fight each other. Then season 10 came out and cut all of it down to one throwaway line. Now they don’t even bother with that. It’s just “Combatant 1 and his nickname, combatant 2 and his nickname, he’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick, Death Battle!”

When you put it like that, your complaint is warranted. Honestly, that intro hype seems like entry level 101 basics when it comes to making vs content.

It’s the little things that make a difference.

Like in Ghost Rider vs Spawn

Spawn beating Ghost Rider is laughably retarded.
But I wouldn’t expect much from these goobers. They’re extremely biased when it comes to certain match ups and they hardly ever use truly relevant source materials. Add in the fact that they straight up just rage bait with some of the fights and you find out why they’re not worth watching except for the fight animations.

Ghost Rider losing to Spawn might be their worst L to date.

Honestly that's the best way to summarize it, rage bait means more interaction and more interaction means more views, and more views means more revenue.

I'd say Mahito vs Shigaraki was a really good fight and really showcased the best of both fighters with an outcome that made sense (even though it's funny All For One bailed Shigaraki out) plus it gave Shigaraki a better fight than the final fight of MHA which was so ass.

So for me this fight, Joker vs Giorno, and Bowser vs Eggman is the best of the season

While Asura vs Kratos is easily up there as one of the worst death battle fights

Feels weird they're doing the DOOM/Halo fight when a new DOOM game is coming out in May. They couldn't have swapped episodes around and delayed it a bit?

Apparently Death Battle fans (mostly the subreddit) have become obsessed with this one background character in Mahito v Shiggy.

Seriously, go on r/deathbattle and you’re gonna see fanart and memes thirsting over this complete randy. Even making a whole separate subreddit around her.

Apparently there was even vore fanart of her. I’m not going to go looking for that, but I wouldn’t be shocked.
