they are part of the reason why all those live service slop games exist, and bungie burning constantly is a better fate then them clossing forever.

Considering that they can't even muster up a working copy of the game as it was during release for a fucking lawsuit (they used a jewtuber's video of the Red War campaign instead), no, I don't think they even know how to give it back at this point.

They replaced the pyramids as being the main villain with this weird looking "Witness" fucker that was a massive downgrade, and the Pyramids were basically irrelevant for the rest of the story, which sucked because I really likes them from Shadowleep to Beyond Light
 
Destiny 1 will forever be peak destiny. King's Fall and Wrath of the Machine sucked eggs, but y'know what? I will always adore the shit out of VOG and I will forever be pissed that progress in D1 never meaningfully transferred over to D2. D2 never sparked any joy. No gunsmith bounties, no faction reputation, worse overall customisation, the botched launch, the promising expansions that got ruined by Bungie's own greed even in the absence of Activision and Sony prodding them, blah blah blah. Worst part is that Warframe is the more satisfying game to play, but like... TANIKS HAS NO HOUSE, HE KNEELS BEFORE NO BANNER, AND OWES ALLEGIANCE TO NO KELL! Warframe lacks its own Taniks, its own VOG, even the races are fucking awful too!

That was the worst time to have come back, the expansions before and after were actually good while Lightfall was widely considered a nadir.

Strand was a lot of fun... once you were no longer using the gimped version from the campaign and could actually utilize the upgrades that make the subclass 2.0 system good.
 
I remember when they deleted half the game with the excuse it would be better for it overall, and now we know from this press post that their meeting with Sony shareholders was absolutely brutal.

The silver lining is that I don't have to see fucking YouTube thumbnails with "is Destiny 2 dead?" or "Destiny is dead and I can't continue" etc etc.

I'd argue Destiny 2 was dead after Lightfall and the Final Shape was just a last hurrah. Everything after was incredibly lukewarm. The constraints of the engine have been a known issue for development for years so I don't mind them ripping off the bandaid and just calling it quits, just let it be dead.
 
I had good times playing the first. The PvP was fun, and of course, the raids were great. The story was always impossibly complex and ridiculous. I only played the second a little bit once they started to remove weapons and gear with no acknowledgment of the time you spent grinding for it was when I quit.
 
Happy to see that they aren't pulling the plug. I've got a good handful of cherished memories playing this dumb game; A few day 1 raid wins too. I dropped out right before Lightfall and I really do miss what Destiny was before that. Might come back if there's a sale maybe. At least shit like Prophecy and Duality are still in.
