There is a twist re: Zurg. It's that alternate-Lightyear is taking his name and there's supposed to be the real deal out there somewhere
So, like what happened with "the Mandarin" after Iron Man 3 where the fake Mandarin wasn't a case of the villain making him up, the REAL Mandarin is out there somewhere?

No surprise with the scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's what a quick look at TV Tropes told me. They set off to Real Zurg's place at the end of the move.
Whoever the real Zurg is in this continuity will never reach the level of greatness that was Star Command Zurg.

I've been laughing for a good couple of minutes at this. Buzz will appear as a human character at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland.

Can't wait to take pictures at Disney with such beloved characters as...the guy who models the Astronaut halloween costumes!

There's nothing iconic about "The REAL Buzz Lightyear", if you removed the Lightyear and Star Command on his suit you'd never be able to guess who it is. They couldn't even keep the green and purple color scheme?

A piss-poor effort of shitty proportions.

I feel a little bad for Allen. He had a pretty good career in the 90s before pretty much becoming an all-Disney actor by the 2000s. He did have some success with Last Man Standing before it got cancelled twice. While Chris Evans is a more well know name today especially among children I think everyone knows the real reason Allen didn't come back.

Reminder for anyone not alive back then, none of the late 90s-00's boy bands were racially integrated.
But mrenter says that you can't have something set in that time without addressing the reality of it, like 9/11.

I kid I kid but yeah all jokes aside why why did Disney think this was a good idea? Few people liked turning red (Pixar! We're not a guaranteed home run anymore!) and I think even less people want to be reminded that there was a time when people liked boybands.

The movie is not performing that well. Leading up to the weekend, tracking was suggesting somewhere between $70-80 million, but it looks like it’s going to end up in the $50-55 million range. I’m sure there’s going to be lots of tiresome rhetoric on why this happened, a lot of it focusing on potential Disney backlash or the gay couple or whatever, but the most likely cause is that audiences just don’t give a shit about the idea of a Buzz Lightyear origin story. Also, it doesn’t help that people are starting to get wise that they can just wait a month and a half and see it on Disney+

Much of the appeal of Toy Story is that its supposedly a peek behind the scenes of EveryTown normal people. Andy being a weirdo himself sort of throws a wrench in that. He already was a bit too old to be playing with toys like that in the original movie but you could look past it. But taking kids toys with you and laying them outlike that in a public theater when you look like you're already in your teens if not knocking at the door to it? Kinda getting the Chrischan vibes.
