Doom Patrol

Nor had I and I loved it. A rudimentary awareness of the DC universe may help as Cyborg talks about joining the Justice League and there's the occasional reference to "heroes". But basically you can go in cold and lose nothing. As Polyboros2 said, it's very self-contained.

Swamp Thing, by any chance? You could always get DC universe for a one month subscription and just binge the whole of Season 1 in high quality. It's honestly worth it. Based on how in accord you and I are over in the Harley Quinn thread, I'll venture to say you'll love it as much as I do. Also, in regards to being burned Season 1 is very rewarding as an arc in and of itself. Even if there had been no Season 2 it would still have been enormously satisfying.

I'm 100% serious about the spoilers, though. You totally don't want to know what's around this show's many corners.
I cant do it.

It's about $8 for a month. You could watch the whole of S1 in that time. But if that doesn't work for you, I'm sure you can find it somewhere. Worth it, imho, though.
It isn't the money, it's the principle of the thing.

Don't know dude, but I'm hyped about watching the Snyder Justice League.

Sex Patrol is such an excellent ep, kinda curious as to why this show has been allowed to just grow organically. There's minimal meddling by exec. producers, so either the creator has heft, or is jewish and gay.

Yep. A bonus for me as I never saw the cinema release so I'm as close to getting to see it as Snyder intended as anyone can get at this point.

It wasn't my favourite episode but it had a slow-burn goodness to it. Flex is great - just so nice. And I can 100% believe that Niles Caulder is willing to mix up some ecstasy in his lab. The weird theme of adulthood vs. childhood that ran through it was interesting. I've not read the comics so this is my speculation rather than spoilers - but am I reading this right that Dorothy has some kind of malevolent genie in her head? Don't answer that if you know, btw. I like to watch this unspoiled. ;)

How Doom Patrol is getting away with so little studio meddling I can speculate. It's produced by Greg Berlanti who oversaw most of the CW verse and whilst that wasn't as good as Doom Patrol it did start off very strong and he must have established a lot of credibility by this point. It's also produced by Geoff Johns who is a talented writer himself so he probably knows well enough not to mess with a good thing. Johns is currently writing Star Girl which, whilst aimed more at kids, is a very tightly written and well-produced show so far. I was half-tempted to do a thread for Star Girl but it's probably too wholesome for Kiwi Farms. Then again, I've met some of the nicest people on here so maybe I should.

So far still good. I get nervous when a TV show has been this good for this long.

The worst criticism I can level at it so far is an overly optimistic view of the trans movement but that's not been a big thing.

Also, back to the show itself, is it just me or is Karen one of Crazy Jane's nicer personalities? All she wants is a normal happy life with her dreamboy.

Oof, have you never encountered a schzoid pixie dream girl? That actress did a great job portraying one of the most harmful harlots you could let into your life. The epitome of the "crazy" you have to learn to "don't stuck your dick into"

If there's an easy free way to check it out I probably will. But I've already been burned once by caring about a streaming only DC show...
Batwoman the TV Show was just too much for a country recovering from consistent attacks. I actually didn't watch all the season, but the dyke knight didn't make my sleeper lesbian chromosomes Roanoke.

Since I haven't seen this mentioned yet, Doom Patrol is also on HBO Max. That's where the Snyder cut of Justice League will air, not DC Universe. If you had HBO Now or use an AT&T provider, you'll already have access. Just be advised that HBO Max is not available on Fire TV or Roku, so you won't be able to watch it on a television if you use either of those.

I probably don't want to know this but what's the problem with DC Universe? Are they owned by Netflix or something?

I don't know what the problem is either, but I know Netflix does not own DC Universe. There is a deal in place between them, however, because DC Universe is only accessible in the US, so Netflix broadcasts Titans internationally. But Doom Patrol is broadcast internationally by Starz.

After getting HBO Max I decided to finally finish season 1 after I stopped around the time of episode 3 airing. I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Even if there were no season 2 I'd still be happy with the end (Well maybe not with Niles daughter being dropped in at the end).

All the characters are fun and have great arcs, but some just dragged on forever. Larry fighting with negative spirit constantly got tiring, and Ritas story wasn't much for me. Jane and Cliffe's chemistry is great but I fear they'll damage that in season 2. Cliffe's constant swearing has been turned up to 11 this current season to the point where it annoys me. Feels like Season 1 I enjoyed Jane, Cliffe, and Niles. Season 2 it's Larry, Rita, and Dorothy. I'm indifferent about Cyborg.

Also never thought I would enjoy a character who is a literal street and a guy who flexes his muscles to use powers. A very quaint show.

The Finger Patrol episode was pretty good, the cinematography was odd though. Lots of great looking shots accompanied by terrible shaky hand cam, snapzoom, or drone cam bobbing. It's starting to feel like Larry's story is moving on, finally. Dreading Ritas since it boils down to stage play shit and "My mom screwed around to get me parts". I had the same feeling for Vics lovequest but it seems like that arc is over. I'm glad they went all the way with the buddy cop duo joke with Cliffe and Vic. I'm not sure how I feel about this season focusing on the candlemaker guy being the catalyst for bad stuff when he hardly did much, cool design though. Cautiously optimistic for this season but I already know deep down there won't be a season 3, I just don't see it happening.

I mean I don't even know what they could do for a third season? They have already done the old version of the Doom Patrol so a multi generational thing seems unlikely and this series really does seem to be about each character trying to fix their history.

So "Finger Patrol" was a tidy piece of madness. This whole scene with Robotman and Cyborg had me in stiches.

Can I get a "Booyah!"

Eh, I mean if its just two seasons thats ok with me. Its been a more or less subjectively consistently enjoyable experience with some really great visuals, and the dude who made mad bucks in the 90's then disappeared after taint-gate playing a robot. And James Bond, who's lost weight since season 1.
Realchair folk actually get fatter and more sad after each season. Dalton, has bucked that particular curve. By being able to use his legs, and having an excellent manager (maybe his wife).
