DOOM

Pu all the graphics settings up the highest they will go. I even upscaled the game to 2560x1440 and it still ran really well. Steady 60 fps the entire time. No DLSS just TAA. The developers of all the shitty games released lately should take note. This is how you release a game. It runs well looks amazing and it's fun to play.

I am glad to see it doesn't use RTX. If it does use RTX then id must be some kind of wizards with the implementation
The game only uses RT, ID are just wizards of optimisation because the game runs buttery smooth without a stutter in sight

One of the strangest things about this game so far (just finished level 8 so not even halfway through) is how many Cyberdemons are in this, one just shows up in the 5th mission, and after that they show up at least once every several big fights.

The worst part is how awful they are to fight, them and the Spiderminds.

"Oh we are gonna make a game about blocking and have enemies that will do literally nothing but drain your shield instantly"

I will say the weapons in this game aside from the Shotgun are all really bad compared to their 16/Eternal counterparts

This. I hate these stupid Cybies and Arachnotrons so much. Spiders you can usually hit with the Impaler and they go down within a few shots but the cybers take literally everything and you have to constantly parry their every attack. got old after the very first one. I also love that they have to put a ton of enemies WITH them so I can't focus on them. Really fun stuff guys. And of course they also decided that now was a good time to bring the chaingunners back fully.

I blame Civvie. There sure is no way these guys are humiliating the family name.

The Super Shotgun feels weak and like absolute shit which is probably the number 1 thing you don't do in a Doom game.

Cmon ID you had one fucking job.
Is this bait? it's easily the best and most powerful super shotty in the series so far. Maybe you just haven't upgraded it at all yet?

It feels really slow and has insane drop off but it's entirely possible I just don't have any of the must have upgrades.

I think the Combat Shotgun is generally better..setting shit on fire for armor is super nice.

I just did a Google search and it uses RT natively like that Indiana Jones game that came out a few months back. A Reddit post I saw said that id will release a non RT patch for the game soon. So people without RT cards or people who don't want shitty performance can still play the game. It's kind of dumb to put DLSS and frame gen in a game like this because it's a twitch based FPS that relies on fast movement and DLSS and frame gen cause issues with input lag.

ID has been infected with the Jeet virus and their over reliance on RT.
Billions must shitte.

DLSS doesn’t really perceptibly increase input lag, but framegen does
DLAA is the best anti-aliasing technique outside of MSAA which few games come with nowadays, so I use it whenever I can, can’t notice any input lag from it

Its the result of the weapon upgrade system, people wont use if the gun dont start weak. If you check the Zero Master (or any other playthrough to the end) it becomes a hand nuke fully upgraded.
Granted, Im not a big fan of this system in the game, it works for stuff like Stalker, but not here

Why tf this skin isnt avaliable in the game yet?

One cool thing I noticed about the game is that the Doom guys face in the health and armor meter is animated and it does the same kind of facial gestures as the Doom guy in the original from the 90's. He cocks his eyebrows and shit like that. It's pretty nice little nod back to the original Doom games.

They must have gotten good ones then because the game runs great. It runs as good as Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal does. I have the lighting as high as it will go and the game uses nothing but RT and no shit tier performance (so far) like all the other slop that's been released in the last 4-5 years. I still have to turn RT off in Cyberpunk or it kills performance in that game. The only other game that I know of that handled RT well is GTA5 and it's not 100% perfect. You can turn it off and just run it with the baked lighting and it's fine. Like I said considering what the recommended system requirements are for Dark Ages I'm a bit surprised. I tried to run that Indian Jones game that used a fork of id tech 7 called Motor and I had to turn the RT down in the opening jungle scene. That was with the 4070 Ti Super. I got that game free with the GPU. I wouldn't buy that shit.

Yeah, I forgot. DLSS causes its own shitty set of issues.

it depends on the implementation, some games get ghosting and other visual artefacts
haven’t had any of that using DLAA in doom TDA, which uses the newest transformer model by default which has far fewer visual anomalies

I played about 16 hours worth of STALKER 2 and you basically had to use DLSS and FSR frame gen to get decent performance. That game was blurry and had ghosting/smearing all over the place.

it doesn't apply universally but I find DLSS quality with transformer model forced on at the very least looks better than TAA native, but a lot of that is on TAA being awful

I played the first level on series x. My only complaint so far and maybe it's just this first level but enemies really can blend into the environment. I may turn the HDR saturation up a bit. Playing on a TV in my living room so further away than a monitor. I know why they're going for less colorful enemies but eternal had excellent visibility on enemies. Also the sound isn't as bassy on a 5.1 system as I'd like. Everything is kinda flat. Game runs well obviously and it feels really good on a controller. Better than eternal did and it felt good too.

You can turn on the original Doom portrait in the UI settings too.
