DOOM

I’d rather ID experiment and try new stuff, see what works and doesn’t than just make the same game over and over.
I don't disagree with that. Eternal was very different than 2016 and I loved it, but a lot of my criticisms don't have to do with the game "not being Eternal again". There's a lot of really wonky decisions that were made that detract from both gameplay and immersion. Regardless of how the game itself stands against its predecessors, there are actual glaring flaws in its design that detract from the experience, with some of them not existing in the previous game in the franchise.

Don't forget the green glowy "markers" they left all over the "path" you need to take.
Still better than having a seemingly perfectly climbable ledge that would just bounce you off into a bottomless pit (they were still present in 2016), even if it did result in some shit level design.

honestly if they do quake reboot or whatever, make it like quake 1's lovecraftian themes. i just find the strogg boring, and quake 4 other than the scene you listed was just a meh game to begin with from what i remember when i played it like 10 years ago.
I'm at the final couple levels (19 out of 22) and if there's anything I can say about this, it's that the final third of the game makes it obvious some higherups at ID really want to do a Lovecraftian Quake reboot.

Some people have speculated this started out development as some sort of Quake game that got retooled. I'm not sure if I 100% believe that but there is a lot of Quake DNA here, especially in the later chapters.

pirate, lol.
also eternal dlc's are alright, TDA is a whole 180 from eternal anyway gameplay wise.
I'll get around to building a PC sooner than I thought. I figured I'd be a consolefag forever but all these companies behave as if they hate their core demographic and desperately want those people to never buy anything from them again.

I get what you're both saying in that such things kill immersion to a degree. I would cite two things: they're video games made for a the general public, and the general public is a whole lot stupider than you could ever imagine. If you don't believe me, work in healthcare or attend any military branch's basic training. Do either for a week and it'll shock you how fucking retarded a lot of people are.

I mean it's also two years ago, and the last two attempts at a DOOD movie failed terribly. (The very last being a direct-to-stream thing tells you all you need to know lmao.)

I don't think id is in any rush for a new go anytime soon.
That movie was so bad and low budget that it was hilarious

The problem with TDA is that it needs a pretty beefy rig to run it. And also that it costs 80 dollerydoos. Addionally, I dont think people are into the 40k doomguy in Army of Darkness theme as much as iD thinks people are.
I don't know if my PC is beefy, I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a 6600XT and so far it runs good enough for me with FSR on balanced (default resolution). I was expecting a lot of blur but not really.
I didn't buy the game though, I'm still on my free month of Goypass. I really like the art direction, also I wish the Doomguy could jump more than 5 cm high. I know they turned him into a tank but come on.
There's a couple of things that I don't like so far: the mech (such a dumb sequence) and the way climbing is implemented, sometimes it doesn't work correctly and you're pushed back.

I bet they make a DLC were you play as the girl and next Doom game you play as woman.
Wouldnt be the first time.

I dont think the chick is ugly? I dont think shes pretty, but shes average.

Just finished it. Nigger I can't believe that they cucked out on Ahzrak's murder. If there was ever a time for gore IN A FUCKING DOOM GAME it was beating Ahzrak with a mace. (Presumably due to the ESRB or whatever.) WHAT THE FUCK

The game still gets a 10/10 for that banger soundtrack though.

I thought it was really weird that theres a obvious 'final' boss with multiple stages and cinematic mid-battle cutscenes. Then the game is like 'uhh actually we have another level to go' with a much easier boss thats just two people in a room. Kinda underwhelming. Then again we haven't really had a good boss finisher since we shot a BFG at point blank range of the spider mastermind.
