I'm literally on my third run of the game's campaign this month alone. I can't stop myself. What's worse is that I plan on getting a gaming PC in a couple months and I plan on doing another run on there too. I can't help it, Doom Eternal can't come soon enough. On one hand I want to do another DOOM run, double dipping into the PS4 version but I don't think my spergy asshole can deal with multiplayer achievements again.
i know they have literally no value shut up
I played it during the beta and thought it was alright. Then I tried it again last year and kept getting killed and I ragequit. Haven't touched it since.Multiplayer was fun, but you could tell it was an after thought.
I love how the game is going further than 2016 did to eschew "immersion," which is what modern games obsess over. Like how the weapons are now literally floating and rotating like in Quake, the flamethrower which makes enemies drop armor in the same way the chainsaw dropped ammo, and the new life system that respawns you right back in the fight.Eternal is so promising because of all the focus they're giving it in the promotional material. Bethesda seem to have figured out why people went so nuts over the first game and have given a ton of leeway to the dev team this time around.
At this point my only concern is they might overdo the narrative and cutscenes, but I have faith enough the team knows not to ignore that people loved the comparatively minimalist approach.
Vignettes at the start and end of a mission, but goijf into third person for sick nasty angel taunt moments would kill the flow.
I'm wondering if it would be considered off-topic to discuss "Doom Clone" FPS games from the 90's in this thread?
Wolfenstein 3D was the predecessor to Doom, and you had things like Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and Chex Quest directly based on the engine of the classic Doom games.
While the Build engine games like Duke Nukem, Blood, and Shadow Warrior aren't built on the same engine as Doom, they're typically considered part of the "Doom Clone" family given the similar mechanics and the era that they came out in.
Heck, there were a lot of Doom clones that I played on the PS1 that aren't even talked about anymore like Alien Trilogy (basically Aliens TC but officially licensed and including stuff from Alien 3 and the first Alien) or the Star Wars FPS game where you played as Kyle Katarn (forgot the name of the game itself)
IIRC, there was even a South Park game like this for the PS1 in the late 90's but it was pretty terrible, which was the main reason why Trey and Matt took a more active role in making Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole
Does this include Doom 3? I don't care about console ports for the first two, but Doom 3 on Switch is a cool idea and it'd suck if this shit was there too.Good news: DOOM 1, 2 and 3 have all been shadow dropped onto the Switch today.
Bad news:

Now that Bethy has Ubisoft beat for wokest vidya company they're going after EA for having the most nonsensical business practices.

Given that Doom 3 ran reasonably well on seventh gen hardware, you would think it could also run on the Switch. And maybe it's just me, but the screenshots look no worse than the console ports of the BFG Edition.Someone on /v/ has claimed that Doom 3 does not have any DRM at all. There are several ugly looking screenshots of it on the eShop page so I'd probably wait until it we have a clear picture of how it runs on the Switch.
You can still use the BFG edition disc and just play the versions of doom and doom 2 on the disc on xboneYeah fuck this shit. The login issue is across all platforms AFAIK (X1, Mobile, PS4). Also, Bethesda delested the pretty good Xbox 360 ports of the game to release this shit.
The footage I've seen has the shoulder mounted light and it has the Lost Mission, so it's based on that.Is the doom 3 re-release the BFG edition?
