There's a balance when it comes to incorporating progressive elements. The first season of the revival got it right, as did the next few seasons that followed. You keep it light, you keep it fun. The more heavy handed "messages" started to creep in later in Moffat's run and it hasn't really gotten any better since.

I like Nctui and his interpretation of The Doctor, but I'm probably not going to feel anything when the character regenerates tonight. That's sad considering, at least going by this thread, that I've had more of a positive opinion towards this latest season than most.

This season definitely had its ups and downs, but I feel it's the best season the show's had in at least a decade. I could do without the nigger "culture" episode and all the homophobia bad cripples good shit (honestly as much as I hate fags and niggers, disabled people have got to be the worst group out there imho. They're even more likely to be pedophiles and rapists than niggers and troons combined and I've never met one who isn't the most selfish person imaginable), but other than those two stories, this season's been surprisingly good.

If the rumors are true, I'm going to miss Ncuti. Despite being a nigger, he's quickly become one of my favorite Doctors and I hope we someday get him for Big Finish once his career dies because Hollywood realizes nobody wants DEI. Also if the Billie Piper shit is true, I can't see that being good.
 
any advice for kiwis to watch this shit live without having a cable/loiscense, kinda want to see how bundled Russell has this

Was actually coming here myself to ask this question as I cant find a livestream/broadcast of it without disney plus....but then it occurred to me that despite my previous pledge to watch/review this shit in real time I genuinely do not care enough to waste the next hour so im just gonna periodically refresh the r/doctorwho live reaction thread (currently they are crooning over how evil white incel villain is also a transphobe) to see just how shit things get

EDIT: Seeing more and more comments about how he regenerates into Billie Piper at the end on said thread and also on x....waiting for visual confirmation first before hitting the "They really are that fucking desperate" button

EDIT 2: Oh and uh I guess the whole Loom shit that crusty old who fans have been sperging over since the 90s is canon now/again but does anyone fucking care at this stage?

If you use a UK VPN you can watch via the BBC iPlayer when it goes live. You just have to put in a UK postal number when it asks. I haven't done it since the 60th so I can't remember if you need to make an account as well. Some VPN relays are blocked so you may need to hop around. I personally use Mullvad, some relays were blocked but others were fine.

Unless it's a Disney+ exclusive and not on iPlayer at all in which case I don't know. There are usually Doctor Who threads on 4chan on the /tv/ board, maybe someone has a link there?

Actually it goes live after its TV broadcast, which is happening now

I'm inclined to not watch even though I'm morbidly curious about the ending because I don't want to inflate the ratings. I know one autist not watching isn't gonna put a dent in things, I guess it's the principle of the thing. Why support people who hate you?

I mean....there is not really anything more to say that has not been said already. People called it, it was leaked, the leaks came true....and well here we are.

Honestly may as well lock the thread and archive. There aint really anywhere it can go in its death throws at this stage. For me the show died over ten years ago with the fucking moon episode so I aint exactly distraught, just tired and bored.

I don't know, it's not as if we don't have 50 years of other media to consume and talk about. I suppose the thread would be a bit slow then, but there's always people discovering the show one way or another.

My hope is we get comfy Wilderness Years 2 where the majority of fans making stuff agree to just ignore everything post Capaldi and go from there. :)
 
You know they’re desperate for ratings when not only do they break out Tennant but Billie Piper too. RTD cannot let go of the old characters.
